Hi
Does anyone know how to tell what year engine you have by the engine number?
Ie. is there somewhere that says "Engine number 'x' started in 1991" etc
Thanks very much for that Greg
Apparently the hard bit is putting it all back together again!
I think I'll let them do the lot as I don't want to do anything wrong there!
Hi
A mate of mine just let me know that I should get the head planed/decked when I'm changing the head gasket. Is this totally necessary ?
It's an RB26, and I'm replacing the gaskets with a Tomei gasket kit (metal headgasket).
It is indeed good to come across friendly coppers who will do their job without any sort of prejudice towards modified cars etc, and who do it in a professional manner.
I've been pulled over a couple of times (for random checks - I've never been pulled over for doing anything wrong ) and only once have a come across an egotastic copper. He did remind me though of a Gestapo officer with his high boots and jodhpurs
Exactly what the other guys have said. It's very very easy to paint your cam and plug covers.
Mine are painted green .... doesn't mean the engine came from Midori though
Did you end up doing your drive shafts Mark ?
I agree with Lucien, do all the gaskets while the engine's out.
I pulled mine apart and did headgasket, all other gaskets, new pumps etc ... definitely worth doing for peace of mind
Mr Beer - when I was in QLD I went to a wrecker and picked up a sun visor for $30. Just have a ring around wreckers who have front cuts ... should be able to find a pair!!
