  1. Can anyone tell me look up my VIN? The one on the paperwork is BNCR33-******, but I can't seem to look it up in FAST
  2. Here you go, I think this is how I use the FAST program (first time), image atttached.
  3. Any leftover for an R33 GTR (series 3)? Regards, Gareth
  4. Oops, think I was referring to http://www.carminder.com.au/index.htm , not CarWatch. Will chat to QuikTrak, I'll do it if I can get a discount off my insurance (and I can't see why not, it would help prevent theft ). Regards, Gareth
  5. I'll try giving there office a call next for the details, I'm not sure if I want to pay an extra $365 a year in fees to have my car monitored. Do you recommend any other GPS tracked alarm systems? Does anyone else use another GPS tracking system that they'd recommend? I know there's CarWatch and EziTrack. Regards, Gareth
  6. If you ever see the option of going to a "Corporate Contract" deal I say go for it. Vodaphone with 14c/min to any phone (mobile or landline) with no flagfalls. And 9cent SMS'es 6cents per 5mins to Vodaphone phones Unfortunately vodaphone's coverage isn't as good as Optus outside the major areas (from what I've seen).
  7. Trex101, thanks for your help, I'm still learning about things such as oil so I didn't know what you needed to understand about the car for a response. Your post makes sense, I'll have a look around and I might try out Mobil 1 first as it seems to have quite a good reputation. Although another question, if Mobil Delvac 1 and the normal Mobil 1 0w40 were the same price, which one would you recommend for a GTR? Regards, Gareth
  8. Hi everyone, I'm looking at purchasing a GPS tracked alarm system for my car, at this stage I think I'm settled on the Quiktrak system as been very secure. I know Chris Rogers provides a lot of advice on the forums but he doesn't work in Melbourne. Chris if your online whats your recommended installers in Victoria? I live in the South Eastern suburbs so if you know a good installer close to here that would be great Can anyone recommend a good install place and any ideas how much it will cost? I'm looking at the "CarWatch" system, I might need some optional extras depending on what it comes with and how much it costs. Also, when I get something like there "CarWatch" system installed do you have to subscribe to their monthly monitoring? I do believe the system can be set to call the owners mobile if something went wrong which would be ok with me Regards, Gareth
  9. Hi, I'm pretty clueless about things such as oils but I've read through the thread and I'm still struggling with the concept of oil viscosity ratings and which oil to use. I've been having a look at : http://performancelub.com And the price between royal purple and mobil 1 seems pretty close but Redline is damn expensive. Anyway, lets use Royal purple as an example, they make: 5w20, 5w30, 10w30, 10w40, 15w40 & 20w50 Now, if I am reading correctly, the first number "5" means that the oil flows easier at cooler temperatures. So the "10w" would take a little longer to warm up and start flowing easily? And the "20w" would take even longer? The upper number, "30", "40" et cetera is the temperature the oil thickens at when its hot, I can't remember how to work out the temperature but I know the larger the number the higher temp it will take to make the oil thicken is that correct? I've been reading: http://www.autoeducation.com/autoshop101/oil-change.htm Anyway, on my other question, I now own an R33 GTR with a fair number of mods (I'm going to find out exactly what soon) I know its aftermarket intercooler, radiator, full engine rebuild (unknown mods), and possibly aftermarket turbo's (the auction did not detail this). The car has also done 148K, Km Would I be better off buying a Royal purple 10w30, or a 10w40? Or do I need to find out my oil temps during use? Or would you recommend the Mobil 1 0w40 (or 10w30)? The car will be street driven with occasional track use, but not anytime soon so for now it will be a street car Regards, Gareth
  10. Some interesting replies so far, I'll double check what wheels I have on my car in a couple of days, from what I know there just 18inch alloys, nothing too special. Nothing I'd like to get stolen either obviously so I would be buying some lock nuts if the car didn't come with some. Thanks for the advice, I might look around for what lock nuts are available and compare the prices....
  11. Hi, Just another curiosity question, whats the difference between buying some fairly cheap lock nuts, for example spending $60 at Tyrepower or similar. And spending two hundred dollars on Rays Dura Nuts or another expensive lock nuts. I assume its more than just the way the nuts look, but whats the difference? Is it related to protecting the wheel from been stolen? Regards, Gareth
  12. Be warned though that oil-type filters are not legal in Victoria. So I have heard that K&N is not legal in Vic but could do with some confirmation... Gareth
  13. Thanks, will do. I'm hoping there's no complications with removing the aftermarket steering wheel and putting the original back on. Its a series 3 car and a series 3 wheel so it should be ok, I think Regards, Gareth
  14. I now have a Series 3 steering wheel for a little over $200, bought on yahoo auctions through slidewizeimports. Thanks to anyone who replied
  15. I personally found that HSBC and MembersEquity unsecured loans were roughly 11.45% which is not too bad for unsecured personal loans. There is a really cheap company called EasyStreet but I don't think they will loan much money at all as they wanted security which was a different loan with a different division of the company. Most banks will prefer if you tell them you are taking it out for 5 or 6 years and pay it off early, but watch out for exit fees. Regards, Gareth
  16. Hi, Another one of my clueless questions . My car currently has an aftermarket intercooler and two pods which is not a good thing in Victoria So the plan is to buy an R33 GTR airbox, my car is a series 3. Are R33 GTR airboxes the same between series 1, 2 and 3? Are other R33 airboxes different to the GTR airbox? Is the snorkel different between series 1 and 2? (and 2 and 3 are the same). Is the airbox the same as the R34 GTR airbox? (I thought I read this somewhere but the price difference is large so I'm guessing this may be incorrect). Before someone asks I have searched but I'm still confused Regards, Gareth Oh if anyone has one for sale I'm in the market for one (PM me )
  17. Melbourne, Victoria.
  18. Hi, Looking around for an R33 airbox and funnel to suit a series 3 R33 GTR (1998 model). If anyone has one please PM me. Regards, Gareth
  19. I'm actually interested in more pictures as well of the different colours available Its hard to judge from just looking at a tiny strip of the leather what it will look like when its in the car...
  20. Thanks for your help everyone, dropped an email to Rampant and Nisswreck to ask about pricing and availability. I also found out I have an expensive aftermarket steering wheel, in my opinion: http://www.autotek.com.au/shoponline/produ...&merchID=18 If anyone is looking for a MOMO, Millennium 350mm in a months time then please PM me It looks really nice but I'd rather have one less thing to get defected on so it has to go Regards, Gareth
  21. Hi, Just looking for a Series 3 R33 GTR steering wheel to suit a 1998 R33 GTR. I will also consider series 2 GTR's steering wheels. Regards, Gareth
  22. Omurru, thanks, I think the compliance workshop should be able to take care of it. Haha, if only this Momo steering wheel on my car was factory. Ok, will check out series 3 steering wheels next Regards, Gareth
  23. Hi everyone, Just thought I'd ask for a clarification, I think I've read somewhere that replacing a vehicle's steering wheel that came from the factory with an airbag with an after-market steering wheel without an airbag is illegal under Victorian law. Does anyone know if this is correct? I am asking because I recently purchased a 1998 R33 GTR from Japan and the car will be on its way to Australia soon, it has a momo steering wheel on it currently. Do I need to change it back to a stock steering wheel for it to be legal? Is there any difference between Series 2 and Series 3 steering wheels? Any idea how much they cost? Does anyone know if they're hard to find in Australia? Regards, Gareth
  24. I used PhoenixImports Australia, http://www.phoeniximportsaustralia.com/, Az is very honest and straight forward to deal with. I'm still awaiting my car to arrive in Australia, it leaves Japan on Saturday 31/3/2007, once its arrived I can give some more useful feedback on the car itself Regards, Gareth
