  1. ardie if you are able to help me I would love some help Thanks for everyones help in this post.
  2. Thanks, the main lesson is to be more careful of which importer you use. Or buy locally....
  3. Working on that with the importer, I am really frustrated now. Its disrupting my holiday and the car is still not registered after over 6months! As for forking out extra money, too late. I've already been screwed over time-wise, with an incorrect valuation, and stroage fees. Anyway, I've decided that the post was a little pointless so Ive edited my first post. Regards, Gareth
  4. Yes I understand the compliance rules. I would not personally call the car heavily modified, when I bought it I was not aware of all the modifications. I only knew about what the importer told me. I dont believe he was fully aware of the modifications either. The turbos are stock as far as I know, its mainly the number of small changes. And this was through a broker, through a company. I will give the importer some time to see if he can sort this out for me, I am offerring to pay some money for it but I am not exactly rich. The car would be used for compliance purposes, once I am past compliance its all fine. Anyway, I will await an update from the importer. Apologies for the random post, Ive been a little stressed over getting the car on the road. Regards, Gareth PM me if you really want to know....
  5. Hi, I am in a bit of a situation with compliance. Compliance have advised my car is too heavily modified to be complied without having a stock R33 GTR onsite for 1 to 2 weeks. My importer is also trying to organise a car but he has not been able to do this yet. EDIT - Ive decided that I should probably sort this out directly with the importer and compliance workshop. This post was made while on holiday so I should have probably put more thought into it before posting.... Regards, Gareth
  6. Yes, I am checking with the workshop if they are ok to swap the Japanese braided lines for ADR approved ones if I deliver them to the workshop. See ya, Gareth
  7. Interested in a set for an R33 GTR, just waiting confirmation from compliance. Can you please PM me the details?
  8. Yes, it clicked a while after I posted that braided hoses must be ADR approved. I will ask compliance how much bradied hoses will cost, and if its worth doing... Thanks a lot for the help!
  9. Agreed with the above. However Ive decided to go with stock suspension for compliance. One day I will look at this group buy again, hopefully when Sydneykid is less busy.
  10. Is this group buy still going? If it is can you please PM me your phone number or a little information? Currently the struts on my car are completely rusted out (they were japanese coilovers), so my car cannot be complied yet.....need new suspension ASAP.
  11. Hi, My R33 GTR is currently in compliance and has two modifications that cannot be identified. One modification, mod1, compliance have advised * it will have to come off as it joins one of the oil galleries. * Mod2 is unknown but possibly weight saving... On another note, I have been advised the A-M steel brake hoses must be changed to DOT marked hoses in Victoria, is this correct? I thought that people buy steel brake hoses all the time.. Regards, Gareth
  12. If you have more money to spend you could start looking at Frankston, although I haven't heard good things about the suburb. I'm not sure if the northern suburbs of Melbourne have similar prices to what your looking for...
  13. My experience as a 23 year old modified R33 GTR owner, the no accident history with a rating 1 certainly helped getting a good price Torque under 30 (for GTR's) Ryno - must have owned a previous high performance vehicle for 2 years Sun Corp - u/25 Vigil aka Unique U/25 or under 30 for GTR's (I think) Shannons - garage only Young and Cool aka Famous - knocked back on electronic application but offered over the phone. Any modifications to engine internals (eg. injectors) or turbo or wastegate and no more insurance...(at least for myself). Slightly cheaper than Just Cars and GIO (by $100), much lower excesses. Just Cars - Very good price but $2900 excess GIO Custom Car - Very expensive until they agreed to meet and beat the Just Cars price and offer a better deal. AON - No Imports GIO Customs were excellent on the phone and happy to beat Just Cars quote and do a better deal, there policy is also not restrictive and there excesses are expensive but a little less than Just Cars, about $2600 in an accident or $5000 for a non-listed driver but they came out on top and I've taken insurance with them.
  14. I assume you've read the sticky topic in this forum on speaker install? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=164820 Its shows hot to install speaks with sound deadener
  15. An excellent letter Roy, I'd also be interested in the response.
  16. Hi, Apologies if this is off-topic, I'm not quite sure where to ask so I thought here would be a good start I've seen it mentioned that after importing a vehicle from Japan, and paying customs and GST on the car, you are able to claim back the GST component in your tax return. I assume that the claim must be made in the year that the GST/import tax was charged? In my case I'm close to finishing my tax return and my car started the customs process last financial year, but by the time I get the bill it will be well into this financial year (hopefully soon). Do I have to claim the GST back next tax return? Also, does anyone have an idea *where* on the tax return you claim this back? Currently I'm not employing an accountant so I thought I'd ask here before I start asking the tax office. Regards, Gareth
  17. blk_sz, drop me a PM, interested in which import company you are using. My car was also redlined but I was less lucky, they decided that the telegraphic transfers and auction paperwork was not enough evidence, they believe the car was undervalued so they forced an independent valuation. The valuation came up higher than the price I paid for it, however I've been stuck for over 6 weeks so at this point I'm just paying the extra $$$ to get the car out, I think I just got unlucky, overall its still pretty cheap but I still feel ripped off, I'll be lodging a complaint to my importer to complain to customs about the extra $$$ and ridiculous amount of time to get it out of there. The storage guys are been nice and providing discounts. Regards, Gareth
  18. I'm up to approximately six weeks or a little more now, the car has apparently been cleared by customs at an inflated valuation, it was valuated twice and they came up with more $$$ then it was bought for in Japan. No idea why all the cars had to be red-lined but I'll be happy when I eventually get to compliance Another valuation is an option but if it is lower customs may or may not accept it so I just want my car out, its still a good price overall... Regards, Gareth
  19. Hi everyone, I've been looking at buying a Canon IXUS 75 and an SD card with it, the new 4GB SDHC cards have a new speed rating, class 2, 4 or 6. I understand that class 2 means a minimum transfer speed of 2 megabits per second, if I'm just using my Camera for just photographs and the occasional video, will buying a class 4 or 6 card make it any better? Or is it more important that I choose the brand carefully? I've found a nice Toshiba 4GB Class 4 card on Ebay for $50, I just need its not counterfeit like 1/2 of the other cards on Ebay. Regards Gareth
  20. The workshop, RAW Imports have been fantastic, however I was informed that my car cleared quarantine last Friday. And was supposed to be transported to Richmond but it now it hasn't got to Richmond yet. I keep calling but I'll have to wait till it gets to Compliance before I can do anything.
  21. I use the Recreation Sandringham, its not that cheap, about $70 a month or close to it but I do have a 2month $50 pass that I can give away... They also don't mind free 1month trials been given away, but don't know if I have any of them left. - Gareth
  22. I must disagree with the radar point, according to: http://www.trafficlaw.com.au/speeding.fines.html Its etiquette not the law that they will show you the radar. As R31Nismoid said, you have already admitted to do something wrong, so its going to be hard now Read the above site, its a stickie from somewhere on this site, has lots of good information. Regards, Gareth
  23. MANWHORE, its been 3.5months all up, it looks like 4 months to get the car or even longer 8 months is absolutely ridiculous. vrfour, thanks for the info, thought I was getting screwed over here, other people who import said they've never heard of this. My importer has given the customs broker a helping hand with booking it and hopefully it will be done very soon. I was actually wondering if it related to end of financial year but I'm not sure if that makes a difference to quarantine. Regards, Gareth
