  1. DickSmith and Jaycar didn't have an exact match for the plug, neither did the place I got sent to in Carnegie (radioparts?) Anyway, I've got a 2 sided 4 pin connector so my new idea is to remove the old connector and replace it with an Australian standard connector. Only thing I'm confused on is the end of the Apexi turbo timer has 5 wires as you can see in the second picture, so how do I wire the turbo timer to the new connector? I looked at the Apexi wiring diagrams but I don't think thats what I'm looking for, the "control unit" (the timer) has 5 wires that are not connected to any plug, I need to wire that to something but the only thing in the glovebox is a 4pin plug which I think is for the timer. Regards, Gareth
  2. bloodsword27, looks like my email notifications are not working again. I need slightly higher offer for the boss kit and you can have it, $50 is a bit low (posted)! Steering wheel sold pending payment.
  3. Xizor, excellent point. I'm just thinking that if its placed behind that firewall facing the rear of the boot compared to sitting on the side of the car facing the other side of the boot. Once has more room (across the boot), but will it sound different? I'm curious if other people have tried both installs, I'm sure some of the shops have experimented.
  4. Hmmm, do you also get this sound when you back off the throttle? Is it all gears or just 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd?
  5. Hmm, I looked at the apexi pen turbo timer harness and I thought the connectors look different. Now that sounds like a good answer, I'll drop by dick smith and ask them for a plug that looks like that Now I just have to get the wiring right with the plug and its all good.
  6. Hi, Ok sure but whats the part called? Does it have a name that I can look for on the website? I should add that the turbo-timer came installed with the car (from my knowledge), its just that at some point between auction and Australia it got removed and I don't know how/why.
  7. Hey guys, In the globebox, right next to the boost controller there are 3 plugs, two of them are connected and the 3rd disconnected, I *think* its for the Apexi pen turbo timer but I'm not 100% sure. Unfortunately its not connected at the moment, someone ripped it out at some point Does anyone know where I can get a connector for it like the pictures attached? Anywhere that does postage or in the South Eastern suburbs would be great Regards, Gareth
  8. This is actually done either from the factory or during compliance in Vic in regard to series 3 R33's, ie. the ones with Xenons in it. I'm pretty sure my one was like that from factory but I could be wrong. I thought it was a requirement that low beam stays on when high beam turns on if you had factory xenons, I can't imagine it been illegal in QLD, but its best to check your local laws. Putting HID into high beam does sound like a bad idea, my high beams look yellow compared to the xenons but I don't need high beams very often.
  9. Ok, last 5 VIN's done.
  10. My R33 GTR gets about 16L/100km if driven with some hard driving and some normal driving (ie. more normal gentle acceleration than thrashing). Or 20L/100km if driven hard more often, the acceleration makes a huge difference for me, the more you stay off boost the less fuel that is used
  11. Ok, great, I'll buy the CAMS license on the day. Just need to find a helmet and a fire extinguisher. I am guessing the fire extinguisher need to be mounted inside the car and secured with bolts? Will need to work out how its done
  12. With getting a CAMS license do I *think* a level 2 speed (L2S) for events like SAU Deca. Do I apply directly to CAMS for a license or through SAU Vic? Oh, any recommendations on where to start looking a helmet?
  13. There are some good articles on sound-deadening doors somewhere on the forum. Nice install, I'm curious about the difference between going for the area where the battery is normally located and the side-of the boot as you have installed. I'm assuming the bass would sound quite different depending on the install location? Has anyone tested how the different installs sound? I assume that the back of the car only fits a very small sub, 10inch?
  14. Yes, Deca looks like an interesting event. I'll do it if I can get off on-call for a few of these dates
  15. My car has yet to get above 85 degrees, I think it hit 90 degrees once but it does have a large aftermarket radiator. I'm running a 5w40 oil. Have pushed it hard but not for a very long amount of time. Does this sound normal?
  16. Went here around 4:25 or so, walked around a few times and the place seems bigger than it used to be. Very popular and there was a band there too. Had no idea where to find everyone so I ended going up home.
  17. Haha, nice photo. Thanks. I've met Bec before at the show and shine, and I've seen Ash and a few other guys but didn't really speak to them. Anyway, will try and find you later today (as long as I don't get any calls on the support phone ).
  18. Will try and turn up so I can meet a few people, unfortunately I'm on pager so won't be staying long. How will I find the SAU group?
  19. Duncan, is it an accepted fact that any attempt to increase the front-wheel bias in the R33 and R34 GTR's will cause damage to the transfer case over time? I mean I assume that the engagement of FWD more often will cause more wear, any idea of how quickly this can occur? Or how hard a transfer case is to rebuild/replace?
  20. And then you can add that Australian taxes on imported cars may be higher than the US equivalent. I haven't done any research here so I am not sure who has higher taxes...
  21. Didn't know bonnet pins were illegal, they do stick up a little but what counts as the "bonnet line"? Anyway, looks like I just missed the Winton fun day, that would have been great . I'm looking at doing the advanced driving course with Driver Dynamics in January so at least I will have an idea of what my car can do. I'll keep an eye on the events calendar to see whats going on next year.
  22. Top-speed run does not interest me, I enjoy acceleration and high-speed cornering and testing the limits of my car (excluding the top speed, it would be fun but I don't want to risk blowing my engine up to see how fast it will go). The last 3 options sound good, I assume everything besides the advanced driver courses require cams license and a helmet? And a fire extinguisher? My car has bonnet pins so that should cover the secondary bonnet restraint requirement Oh, and skid-pan would be great fun if the club does that kind of thing Thanks for the replies, I'll keep any eye on the events calendar. Do SAU and WRX club hold joint events or should I check the WRX club's calendar? Are SAU'ers welcome?
