Anyone Have A Gt Rs Or Gt Ss Turbo On Their Rb20
1400r replied to AntonRx7's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'd just buy a Garrett turbo something close to 2530 or 2510 if I was going to go new and sticking with the auto trans should cost you under $2,000 easy no need to spend 3,000 on a gtr-s if you will be happy with 220 ish -
Anyone Have A Gt Rs Or Gt Ss Turbo On Their Rb20
1400r replied to AntonRx7's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
from my understanding a Gt ss is just like a stock replacement turbo ie base model hks turbo the gtr-s would be interesting as its supposed to have the responce of a 2530 but top end is equal or greater to a 2540 so if you can afford one go for it. I'd say you should go for a ride in 32 or ceffy with a 2530 and see if you like the responce of it I know I was shocked how laggy mine felt with a 2530 after hearing how non laggy these turbos are. -
yep that right but I when I put one on also want to get rid of the line that goes in close to the TB towards the back of the engine bay has anyone tried this? would it cause any problem T'ing two lines together before running it in to the catch can
-
T it of the BOV? or somewhere close by off the cooler piping?
-
seriously your on a whole other level of smart Sydney!
-
I wouldnt even bother comparing a sr wt a 2530 and a rb20 wt a 2530 total different power delivery or a rb25 to a rb20 for that matter

[sa] 1993 Skyline Gts-t Type M
1400r replied to 32drifter's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Kym( phatgtr) and I are still watching the sale mate just so u know. -
looks like it may have been the non stock rubber hoses (no restrictor) from the actuator to the front of the turbo housing or the actuator was stuffed. Im leaning towards the hoses as the actuator(stock one) looked fine we swapped both over over anyway seemed to turn the ceffy into a smoke machine though!!! if you had seen the smoke I'm sure you would have thought it was making more than 225 rwkw
-
"anyone else have any ideas??? someone suggested checking a hose for a restrictor? is this the hose from actuator to boost control T piece (then to turbo on other side?) " Hud the hose with the restrictor in it should be on the boost controler to actuator side I think that right? guys little help?
-
sorry hud let me clarifiy you need to keep the restrictor as it reduces the size of the hole the air has to travel through which increase the pressure holding the wastegate(act) closed ( think about a garden hose when u put your thumb over the end) Ive read that by altering the size of the hole in the restrictor you can change how the turbo ramps up on boost ie make it spool slightly earlier or later( hpi mag did a build up on a jap spec s15 which they did this on) if your missing the restrictor entirely by using pretty blue hosing instead you may get the problem you have as there is not enough pressure holding the wastegate(act) closed

'hey are you on msn sounds like we always got lots to talk about lol... " Nup sorry mate you can always give me a call if u like names Ryan 041 115 2733 If I go to AIR tommorow I'll come say hi and see how u've gone with it "talking about wastegate??? is this the actuator thingo??? the gold round thing that hose runs to boost controller?" Yep sorry wastegate or actuator same thing sort of in my brain anyway "how do i find if there is a restrictor in what hose ???? is this a rubber hose" in standard form the standard black hose goes from the actuator (gold round thing) straight to the front of the compressor cover the hose has a sightly large black hose over the top of it. Are you still running the standard hose? if you are look for a white line on the inside black hose and the hose will feel solid in that spot as the restictor is a little metal fitting that has a small hole through it. If your still running this small black stock hose you should be right "and how on earth do i swap the wastegate's over ????" If you still have one of the standard hose of the two stock turbo's ur selling swap them over its easy as I did mine in 5 min looks a lot harder than it is just two bolts and the little clip. "just done this removed boost cont and ran hose straight from actuator to turbo (stock boost) === to check if it is boost cont problem result - seemed to be a little better, but unsure what boost it was at as i have no boost gauge and didnt want to push it too hard. but came on around 4500 ish in 2nd gear... also checked computer result - looks like a genuine nissan one, so unless its remapped (how would i check this) it looks standard." Id say the only real way to tell would be to take the ecu apart either that or look for a warranty stick thats been tampered with or broken. Are your running the stock wastegate? the turbo didnt come with a adjustable on? Try and get the hks turbo setup in the same way as the stock turbo if you can no boost control stock hoses and running from the actuator straight to the front of the compressor cover not running of the cooler piping or anything were did u get it from? does it look like its in good nick?

Robo's your cars a 33? yes so a ceffy with a rb20 is going to spool later than that. Huddy do you still have the standard stock wastegate if so swap them over and see how that goes. Mine was laggy too (not that bad) swapped the hks adjustable for my standard wastegate and it seems to come on boost a little earlier. Are you still running the stock wastegate hoses? if not you may not have the restrictor in the new hose and this can cause it to be very laggy. Mine starts spooling (in 2nd) at about 2,800 comes on song about 3,500 and pulls hard all the way to redline. I figure the standard comp would be no good lag wise as you really want to lean the fuel curve out a bit and advance the timing to help bring it on boost. Mine does feel very laggy down low Im hoping to be able to advance the timing a bit as Ive heard auto's are detuned from the factory so can take a little more timing. Any chance you got a 2540? by accident

What Mods do u have on your ceffy? an what power??
1400r replied to nytrda's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
thats good I use Simon as well thats were I had most of my runs in my 180 too so I was going to compare them. I just dont want to go somewhere and have them tell me there no way my 32 could reach the same fig as yours with the same mods. I might give simon a call and see if he thinks its worth running it before I get a fcd. Thanks -

1400r replied to nytrda's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
do you think the injector's are larger than standard? "Boff32" is selling his 32 on sau and ns at the moment and has made similar power to yours on what he thinks is a stock ecu and inj combo where did you get the dyno run done? -
try www.kansaiautomotive.com there in Adelaide but I fairly sure they have a a few sets
-
I'd say your hit the fuel/boost cut if your still running stock ecu try lowering the boost to 12psi
-
I put my stock wastegate on last night and the car seems yeaps better spools up alot better and doesnt hesitate at .5 bar like it did with the hks adjustable one I might get it tested at a turbo place see if they can fix it. Im happy running stock boost for awhile anyway till I get a remap and inj. Thanks guys

Ive got a 2530 on my fairly stock 32 and it has a hks adjustable wastegate on it I cant seem to get it to run less or stay on .8 or .9 bar I have it wound out (its almost loose) as far as possible yet it still runs .9 bar and feels a bit laggy. Are they made to run .85 bar( or 12psi) standard? I read this once in HPI and I guess it would explain why I cant get it to run less boost. How far is your done up and what boost are you running?

www.kansaiautomotive.com has one

Kym said he will pick up the FPR for me when he comes over (Sunday?) to have a look at the car. He said he will call you on Saturday to confirm. Is that ok?
-
Im after one for a rb20det are there different types? hey my mate in Sydney's looked at your car he tells me its gonna have a rb26 if you have a fpr 2 suit a rb20det maybe I can get him to pick it up of you? his names Kym

"hey matt, how you going mate? it isnt the rears, its the fronts as they have quite a bit of negative camber on them." yep I know the front has a upgraded swaybar too. "would you believe that it is now one colour? isnt that a surprise." sweet glad to hear it my skylines becoming a bit of a drift pig now "btw, you should come on a skyline cruise sometime since spring is here, would be ideal weather for it." sounds good any sideways action happin soon? I should have my power up sorted by then Ive already stuck the 2530 on just getting the cooler fitted this week Im hoping to make around 170 till I get a remap and injectors then Im chasing 220rwkw sic hows the 33 going? what sort of powers it making now?
-
Hi Duc its probably in part due to the GAB swaybars (if you still have them fitted) I remember when I put them on it cambered out the wheels a fair bit. Id be happpy to swap my stock 32 ones over if you'd like they should fit? he he
