  1. Does anyone have some advice out there? I've had a closer look at the dyno chart and been more observant of the boost since posting and can add more hints to you mechanical geniuses out there. Boost rises rapidly and smoothly to 19psi, drops to 17psi, spikes to 17.5psi then drops back to 17psi by redline. I've just installed splitfire coils and peak boost has raised by 0.10Bar with no changes to engine management or boost. (boost fluctuations are still present) Is the problem with: a) the boost controller b) boost controller set up/settings/install (doubtful on this one as i trust my tuner) c) stock wastegate actuators d) something else Has anyone else experienced similar problems with this boost controller or with their GTR's? Cheers, Ryan.
  2. Yeah that's the frustrating issue Scott. The package has so much more in it and i'm not being able to get to see it because of continued boost dilemas. It's really frustrating. Power rises smooth and fast with the boost but once boost peaks and drops everything flattens off when i should be seeing results closer to what you have. I find it hard to believe that this is just a case of this boost controller not working for me on this package when i know it works fantastically in other applications.
  3. Hi, I am experiencing some very frustrating boost control problems on my 32 GTR. When purchased the car had an old model Blitz SBC type S that was hopeless for controlling anything over 12psi on my car. I did a little research and found only good things said about the Blitz dual SBC type R (dual solenoid one) and went out and got one. On the initial dyno session the spark was getting blown out by boost because of the poor condition of the plugs. Platinum ones gapped to 0.8mm went in and fixed that problem. On the dyno when the boost gain is turned up boost will fluctuate -+1 psi after reaching the set value (it shows a nice little wave on the dyno read out). When the gain is turned down the boost curve can be flattened out somewhat but it is nowhere near rock steady. Now it will reach the set value and drop a little rise back up to the set value and fall again. It looks very much like the frequency of the boost fluctuation wave has just been reduced (i.e. just one fluctuation now instead of about 5 with a higher gain). The car is a 32 GTR with 34 N1 turbos(bought new), Djetro PFC, built internals, 700cc injectors, 044 fuel pump, full exhaust etc. We are currently running 17psi and getting 362hp rwhp but it is really evident that the unstable boost is killing the power from about 5,500rpm onwards. To say that this isn't what i expected from one of the 'higher' end of the EBC range is a bit of an understatement. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is occuring and what to do to go about fixing it? Cheers, Ryan.
  4. My old Hr31, Rebuilt turbo: VL turbo rear wheel, R33 GTS25T front compressor and bearings Front mount 3 inch exhaust SAFC II Standard everything else running 1 bar 240rwhp
  5. Not wanting to change the topic too much but in answer to your querie Sydneykid it cost me $1,900 from memory all up. As Gav says there are a few people over here that have the maps so the install and tuning costs were down on what you mention. My calculations for the normal PFC certainly didn't factor $550 for two Z32 AFM's as i was only going to use new items for piece of mind. I assume the $550 you mention is for 2nd hand? if not thats a top price and maybe my calculations would've meant i stuck with the normal PFC i already had. As they say 'the past is the past' though and i certainly dont regret the choice i have made. For my mind the Djetro is a good piece of kit. Cheers, Ryan.
  6. Hi, I've had a PFC Djetro installed in my GTR for a while now and have noticed a slight change in the knock readings i am getting. First tune i would get readings no higher than 40 Current tune i will get readings below 30 and then every now and then one will be in the high 30's. I have heard that the PFC sees a reading of 60 or more as a genuine knock event and in that event am i being anal worrying about something 2/3rds of that? I have also noticed that the higher readings i get are not when the car is at full load but when i back off the throttle or at odd moments. Got any theories why this is? Car gets another tune tomorrow (because boost control has been problematic a new EBC gets done tomorrow) so i'll see if things change after then. Cheers, Ryan.
  7. Guys, My car orignally came with the standard ECU but with a PFC to chuck on later. I had a bit of a think ahead and asked a few mates with GTR's with upgraded turbo's similar to mine and found they had no end of troubles with AFM's and upgrading them with first RB20 then VG30 items. I factored the cost of upgrading the AFM's and subsequently the pods and adaptors i had to suit the standard AFM's and using the PFC i had then worked out it was a much simpler and cheaper exercise to go the Djetro. That plus not hearing anything but praise for the results they give. It just made sense to me. Since having it installed i can honestly say there has been no difference in cold start, light throttle applications or idle from the standard computer. The car gets fully tuned tomorrow (i've had boost control probs.) so i'll be able to tell you the final result. Cheers.
  8. My old GTR did repeatable 12.4's with a vigorous launch (1.6 60ft) and about 110mph terminals. Stock except for exhaust and boost restrictor out. Seems like the times posted are about right to me.
  9. Will consider swap + cash or cash adjustment depending on value for 32 GTR aftermarket name brand gear. Cam Gears (new) Tomei Poncams 270deg straight fit (new) Intercooler EBC Cheers, Ryan.
  10. Am I the only person here who doesn't have a radar detector and doesn't see the need for one? It is a simple thing to not go over the speed limit 99% of the time.
  11. Item: 2 x 32 GTR air flow meters Location: Perth Item Condition: just came off the car, working fine, mesh still attached Reason for Selling: not needed as i have installed a Pfc Djetro Price and Payment Conditions: $200 each or $375 for both, cash (if in Perth), or direct deposit into my account. Extra Info: Will post interstate, at buyers expense Contact Details: pm or 0405 026 364 Item: Standard 89 32 GTR ECU Location: Perth Item Condition: just removed from the car, i believe it is unchipped. Reason for Selling: not needed as i have installed a Pfc Djetro Price and Payment Conditions: $300 cash (if in Perth), or direct deposit into my account. Extra Info: Will post interstate, at buyers expense Contact Details: pm or 0405 026 364 As mentioned above the items listed have been removed from the car due to the Djetro not using AFM's. All bits work as per normal and have come off a very clean low km GTR. I'm heading away with work next week so last enquiries for a few weeks will have to be friday. I'll chase up the thread when i return if there are any interested parties. Cheers, Ryan.
  12. As per the title, I am chasing a standard 89 32 GTR fuel rail in good condition that does not leak (like my current one). I'm in Perth. Cheers, Ryan.
  13. I went with the inspector when my first GTR came in, he had no dramas with that and i dont think any inspector would.
  14. Bump. Would consider swap for 32 GTR after market bits especially Jap name brand oil cooler kit with filter relocator etc that is GTR specific. (Grex etc.), intercooler. Cheers.
  15. Item:R32/33 GTR PFC + handcontroller Location: Perth, can send interstate Item Condition: New Reason for Selling: Using Djetro instead Price and Payment Conditions: Direct deposit, cash. $950ono Extra Info: Postage at buyers expense Contact Details: 0405 026 364 or pm As mentioned above i have a R32/33 GTR PFC and hand controller for sale, in the box, never used. It has been taken out to have a look at it, but it has never been in a car and the handcontroller is unmarked. Selling because i am using a Djetro PFC instead. If you wanna talk about it i'd prefer you call as i may not be checking the forums too often. Cheers, Ryan.
  16. Ditto, Thanks Ben, although i have heard a nasty rumour that the H1's wont fit into projector type R32 headlights, can anyone confirm as i'm too lazy to have a go at fitting them until after christmas?
  17. Yeah my bad, at the end of the day my 2c for anyone who cares to take notice
  18. Sammie, The number of replies this thread has got since you started it certainly shows that the community is trying to give you the benefit of their knowledge as there is nothing closer to a Sau members heart than someone getting their first skyline. Talk to your Dad and if he is cool with a 32 as your first car he obviously thinks you can handle it and the responsibility and may even go as a guarantor to help you get it. My only advice is to perhaps think about something a little cheaper, but always get the best example of whatever car you choose to buy as it will likely save you in maintenance and help with re sale. P.S. I started with a 31, got a 32 GTR before i was 21, got another 31 and have recently bought another GTR. Sure i'd be a bit further ahead financially but the reason why we drive these cars is because we love them and the joys of owning them sometimes out way logical thinking Cheers, Rhino.
  19. Picked mine up last night. Quality looks great. Just gotta get my act together and fit em.
