  1. Not as big of an advantage in an RB being that the valve train is very light...well compared to a pushrod motor anyway To the guy above...I heared mixed reports about the BC valves, some of them are just rebranded quality brands, some are of lesser quality
  2. So good for around 340-350 rwkws at best, might not be too bad on a stock mouse trap...not sure I would go high-mount/externals for that power on a GTR though
  3. Just noticed the question hasnt been asked, what spec TD-05s? 16g/17/18G there are even a few with 20G comp wheels floating around
  4. Drag racing is a different kettle of fish to circuit stuff..at the drags you do what half a dozen runs at say 11secs of WOT compared to 4 15-20 min sessions of full noise. Kinda relevent, a Friend of mine drag raced his XA hardtop falcon for years, making 480rwhp with stock rods/crank and hypertech pistons, first track day bent a rod in the 2nd session. Quick edit - I would happily whack 2 TD-05s to my 220,000k old 1jz and dragrace/steet drive it....would I do track days no way! Not sure if the OP wants to do circit work or just have a quickish street/strip car
  5. hahah I can see how that would get in the way
  6. As for a hoist collapsing.....I have personally seen 2 do it....
  7. Im thinking worse case senario. Shit can and Will happen. Believe me I would love a place where I could go rent a hoist for a few hours, but only if every avenue was covered to ensure the saftey of people and the cars. Also what about theft? if you leave your car there for a week, Cameras would help but wont stop nosey buggers sticking their dirty fingers in your glove box or taking a liking to your gear lever So calm down you overly sensitive twats, I am trying to offer all sides of the arguement, where you will have shit heads messing with peoples stuff, stealing your tools blah blah. On the other hand, a big(ish) parking area for customers who have something go wrong while the car is there so it can be moved off the hoist and at least moved out of the way, sounds better than charging them double and having a hoist out of action, even if you charge 20 bucks a day for the parking area. What would you do about staff....as in what would the job description be? you counldt just have them sitting around all day, maybe a qualified mechanic how can offer advise and/or lend a hand where needed. Would help turn around times if a car is going to run over time.
  8. find a copy of the RB engine manual, there are a few floating around the interpascals. A Head Gasket is a head gasket, only pain in the arse part about the RB is getting the cam timing spot on after its all back together.
  9. If the RB26 is brand new it might cope with 400kws.....but 20 years of abuse i doubt even at 300kws most untouched RB26s wouldnt last 2 track days
  10. Garrett 25/30's......? righto
  11. Kinda off topic, but do the 2 smoke jetski motors use expansion chambers...kinda hard to see in the pic
  12. Ahhh I remember this car from when it was in Zoom mag all the time, nice, good to see how have gone a long way power wise since then.
  13. While it sounds like a good idea....there is no way I would sign an imdemnity with god knows who f**king aroud with the hoists/compressors etc.....what happens if a hoist collapses with my car on it? Or I slip and split my skull open because someone left oil all over the floor? Im not one to sue people but having no cover would turn a lot of people away..including me. Also things like what if the air compressor breaks down...would you still charge people even though they cant use all the equipment. Even little things like if you had say an engine building room and an engine fails due to foreign objects...who's fault would it be etc. It would be a logistical nightmare at best
  14. I agree with Ben, my RPM 5-point felt very nice. Cant comment on the 6-point ones though
  15. Nice car, good to see people going to the n'th degree on performance. But after spending 10k on an exhaust manifold, you have off the shelf cams and a near standard head? Surley there is more to be gained playing with real performance cams and not the average stuff the japs come up with. Im sure you have your reasons, but if it were me I wouldve saved 9k on a manifold and spent that playing with cams/head combos. Well actually if it were me I wouldve bought a 2nd hand JUDD V8 lol But like I said im sure you have your reasons for doing it as you did.
  16. 2nd hand car yard....say no more...they are all bad! Doesnt matter if they sell Imports on VN vacationer Wagons
  17. Why would you want to?
  18. LOL Firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4.....makes twin scroll easy on an RB
  19. Kinda hard to tell, but does look a bit lower the the bay than what it would be using 25 mounts. Stu.....Those Turbos...you gonna be hitting Willowbank
  20. Leaky intake piping will more than likely be the cause.
  21. Lifting the rear of the bonnet makes it worse 99% of the time, creates a high pressure area at the rear of the engine bay and makes airflow worse. I would dissconnect 1 fan and go for a drive, might help with airflow through the radiator when driving. Oh BTW do you still have a/c?
  22. Be careful the the ink gun might spin a bearing out of nowhere
  23. You have a 62 deg thermostat but the temps are in the 70s when driving. Something seriously wrong there...and why so cold? even 70 degrees is too cold for a production engine, should be up near 80
