    Nissan CW726

Hi, I'm after any information I can find about this unit. It's what was fitted to my R33 GTS-T and didn't come with any manual. A user manual would be nice, and so would a service manual or schematic diagram if possible. I've been told this thing is oem'd by Clarion (the head unit is labelled Nissan) and the control unit which is in the boot has Xanavi written on it. Any help, email address's or links appreciated. And yeah, i've already found and searched the Clarion and Xanavi sites for info, none. mike

Yeah there were heaps of Skylines, at least 20. Obviously lots in the SAU stand, Fangartists and various other stands. For me the SAU stand was the best because it represented the best of what you'd call "street" machines, the kind of cars you can drive without getting too much unwanted attention. I caught up with Paul and Scott at the SAU stand who both have great looking cars and Paul was helpful in explaining alot of things I was wondering about the R33 Series 2. Got some ideas for future mods too I fogot my digital camera but there was a guy selling a CD of pics he took before the show opened, so there are lots of nice clean shots without people getting in the way. It was $20 but worth it, especially as i'm a crap photographer anyway. So if you haven't gone, you should before it closes, and if your reading this after its closed and you wished you'd gone, you missed a great show! And leewah(don't know if thats the right spelling) got his Dyno King crown back by 1kW, which he had previously lost to a competator at Brisbane Autosalon. Great show.. Mike
  4. Hi Chris, Ok, thanks for that. So I guess I could try Clarion for some info. I'd like to get hold of a schematic diagram or service manual, at least that way I can see if it can be modified for PAL. Mike
  5. cool, i'll be there mike
  6. Hi Jamezilla.. Thanks for the welcome and comments about the car, what can I say, i'm in automotive heaven mike
  7. heh, well i'm single atm so i can spend all my $$$ on it and not get told off mike
  8. yeah, i saw heaps for sale that had lotsa mods done by previous owners, but i wanted one that (a) wouldnt attract too much attention from the local ball busters and (B) would be clean so I could do my own thing with it. mike
  9. its totally stock except for a 3" exhaust system and muffler, which gives it a wicked sound, heh. Um, mods, well, first thing will be a turbo timer followed by a decent set of wheels to replace the standard Nissan items. Oh yeah and the sound system needs an overhaul, better speakers all round for starters. I kinda like the Nissan LCD system it has for audio control so I might leave that in, for now.... The list gets longer every time i think about it Like everything it depends on $$$$$$$$$$ mike
  10. cool, another new owner, i dont feel so alone Nice car, some good mods there... Mine is pretty much totally stock except for a nice 3" exhaust system, so i'll be working out what do spend my $$$ on next i'll be heading out to AutoSalon, prob saturday, dunno what time tho.. mike
  11. yeah congrats! I picked mine up last week ( R33 GTS-T ) and am also converted, they are an awesome car, and the pickup, mmmmmmm.. mike
  12. I'd like to join, just wondering if I can pay by direct deposit rather than trying to get a cheque or money order? Or can i sign up and pay at AutoSalon?? If all goes well i'll check out AutoSalon sometime over the weekend, looking forward to it.. mike
  13. Yeah, i thought the GT badges might also be a target, think i'll have to electrify the car so any little turd that tries to steal a badge fries, heh. Is there anyone getting reproduction badges made?? Places like Rare Spares sell replacement badges for the Ford GTs and Holden makes, someone must be doing the same for us Skyline owners. No holes, so either they were filled in or maybe it was a delete item from factory?
  14. Hi Chris, The unit has Nissan CW726 written on it. It has a 7" (approx) screen that shows either current radio station, cd stacker info, tv or input from the front mounted a/v inputs. The stacker itself has Nissan written on it too, and its a six stacker. Any ideas on where I might get information on it, google returns one link (in japanese) and thats all. I dont think its a Clarion unit as I believe those units allow the screen to retract into the dash, this screen stays out all the time although the angle is adjustable. Any help appreciated. Mike
  15. Hi Devil, Welcome to the forums from another newby! I just picked up my R33 GTST last thursday and still haven't come off the high of driving it, don't think I ever will, hehe. Love the graphics on your car, so when you get it repainted will it have graphics too ??? Pics of mine are in another thread I posted earlier if you wanna see it.. No graphics and it's black, a cow of a colour because it shows dust and stuff but one of my favourites Mike
  16. heh, thats one thing i'm scared of, someone stealing the badges! Is this much of a problem with Skylines??? All of a sudden anyone walking near my car (when its at work) gets a very close look, anyone who stops and looks gets alot of my attention Mike
  17. cool, I hope you enjoy it as much as I am enjoying mine! Why the heck Nissan didn't bring these things over back when they were in production i'll never understand. The ride, handling and performance is comparable or better to what was around in the local market back in the mid/late 90s. Nissan had a real killer here, shame they didnt act on it. Mike
  18. Thanks. Well the before and after shots are pretty much the same, as he must have had it cleaned and polished for the photo's, which is what I had done to it. As soon as I work out how to inlude pics you'll see it Mike
  19. Ok, that didnt work How do I attatch pictures? There is a button that looks like an envelope and says "Insert Image" but when I click on it a dialog box comes up asking me to type something in (between img and /img). What am I meant to type in ?? mike
  20. heh, thanks. Ok, these are the pics the previous owner took as my digital camera is screwed at the moment. Hope the attachment thing works.. here goes! Mike
  21. Thanks Yeah I know this will be the an endless money pit, not right away though, gotta clear a few bills before the additions begin, heh. The beauty of this car is it is basically stock, it hasn't been anyones project car, so I have a clean sheet to begin with, except for the 3" exhaust which is fine by me! First thing, Turbo timer... As much as I love sitting in the car I hate waiting, after that, speaker overhaul, the standard ones are either really average or these ones have died. I can live with the CW726 head unit for now though, wish i could for a manual for it. Mike
  22. Hey all, I'm now the proud owner of a 1997 Skyline GTS25t!! Picked it up yesterday and submitted the rego transfer info today, so officially its mine! Just had it cleaned and detailed and it came up a treat. Have to say that this is one of the nicest cars i've driven so far, you just don't get to appreciate them when you take them for a test drive, but now i've had a chance to drive it on roads in my own home area i'm just in awe of the ride and power these things offer. If you think i'm excited, yeah, you got it Thanks to everyone to answered my questions about insurance and stuff, was a great help. This one has a Nissan CW726 radio/tv/gps/cd stacker which didnt come with a manual and the R33 Owners manual (which came with the car) doesn't say anything about it. Does anyone know where I might find info in it, so far Google hasnt come up with anything Mike
  23. I've been looking at insurance in the last week and have some things to add.. Shannons were happy to insure my R33 GTS-T, however the guy flat out said they are not competative in that segment, and quietly suggested I try Torque or Unique. When I mentioned JustCars he said stay away, they have hidden excess's. Not sure what he meant by that, but looking at Justcars policy under the EXCESS heading they list "additional". Also, you dont get to choose your repairer, you can get a quote from them but Justcar will also ask you to take it to one of their nominated repairers for a quote, and cheapest quote wins... You also don't get a free windscreen replacement, you pay your excess and they will leave your rating alone. For all that, Justcar would cost me $1,188 and $1,150 excess. Payments can only be yearly. 3 year guarantee on repairs./ Famous Classic Car quoted me $1,100 and $1,000 excess. That includes my choice of repairer, one free windscreen per year, agreed or market value, personal items (limits apply), hire car after theft. So far it seems that Famous offer a better deal and at slightly cheaper rates, and they let you pay monthy, six monthly or yearly. The only thing i couldnt see in their policy was how long they guarantee the repairs for. I'll be ringing them about that. Mike ps. i'm 34 and currently rating 2.
  24. Thanks for the replies so far! I checked out Shannons first, but the guy straight out told me that for something like a Skyline Turbo they aren't competative, said that I would be looking at around $1800, then quiety said I should try Unique Car Insurance and Torque Car Insurace. When I suggested I was going to speak to JustCar, he told me he wouldn't recommend them because of their high excess's and hidden clauses. hmmm So, I rang Torque, number rang out... Justcar says $1,188 with an excess of $1150. Famous Classic Car Insurance says $1100 and an excess of $1000, any mods fine as long as they are legal. Unique says $1411 and an excess of $750. I got Famous from the link Bec sent me (thanx) and it says they come highly recommended. The guy I spoke to says they are the largest insurer of Skylines in Australia, could be b/s, dunno. As Unique work out to be the most expensive i've ruled them out. So i've just finished downloading the policy details for JustCar and Famous to try to see who offers the better deal for my money. I know JustCar are popular, and they advertise like crazy, but the thing the Shannons guy said kinda makes me worried a little.. Mike ps. I pick the car up on Friday so I have to work this out!!
  25. Hi everyone, I'm waiting to pickup my R33 GTS-T from the previous owner and there was one question he couldn't answer about it. The unit has an inbuilt LCD screen which controlls the sat nav, cd stacker, am/fm radio, audio equaliser and TV Tuner and, yes, get this, tape deck!! I didnt check for the brand when I test drove the car, but later on when I spoke to him he said it was a Nissan branded unit. Has anyone else seen one of these? I'd like to get as much information about it as possible, a manual would be even better!! Any help appreciated. Thanks, Mike
