  1. Oh if anyone is kind enough, maybe they could test the voltage on their CAS so I can compare with mine. I can supply ECU pin numbers, wire colours etc if needed. I wanna know 100% for sure.
  2. Well with a bit of research I found the CAS test section in the stagea service manual It says the 120 degree signal should be between 1.3v to 1.4v at idle, and I imagine it should be a reasonably steady reading aswell. So it's looking as though mine is playing up. Please sit down before reading this part. A new item is worth $1042 from Nissan, what a joke that is.
  3. No worries, that's what we're here for
  4. I hope someone can help me. I tested the voltages coming out of my CAS today and I think I have found a problem. The voltage coming from the 1 degree output is around 2.4v at idle, and sits quite steady. The voltages coming from the 120 degree outputs is fluctuating from around 0.9v to 1.6v and seems erratic. Now I'm thinking this voltage should be around 0.2 to 0.5v and should also be steady like the 1 degree voltage, am I right? You can notice a very slight rough idle (more so when cold) but also when warm, and a timing light shows the timing mark jumping around slightly. Do I have a stuffed CAS?
  5. Wondering if anyone knows if this is normal, I've tested the voltage outputs from my CAS and have found something that may be a problem. The signal from the 1degree output is around 2.4 volts and sits quite steady at idle. But the 120degree signal seems very erratic, jumping between 0.9 to 1.6volts at idle. Is this normal, or is my CAS U/S?
  6. A little bit of bi-carb soda in the hot water helps neutralise the acid in the gunge build up aswell and helps get rid of it faster.
  7. We've cleared that issue, what I need to know is the R34 has sensors that the R33 and Stagea don't have, and will the R34 PFC run correctly without these? eg: boost pressure sensor, throttle motor. and theres also a communication connection between the ECM and the TCS/ABS units.
  8. Ok, I've found out that the VVT on the R33 and R34 are basically the same ON/OFF, the R34 has just been improved to give a smoother transition. So this should work ok. The other problems are that the R34 has a boost pressure sensor and the R33 doesn't, also the R34 has some sort of throttle motor on the throttle body. The power FC could be easily fooled into thinking these were connected, but would this affect the running of the engine if it didn't get the correct signals?
  9. I can see why the A/C doesn't work properly, the R33, Stagea and R34 all have slightly different A/C circuits. May take a bit of nutting out to get working sufficiently. Can anyone tell me if the boost pressure sensor and throttle motor are critical for use with an R34 GTT Power FC? or can I just fool it into thinking these are connected?
  10. Cheers guys, very helpful info, only other thing he has a problem with is that the PFC won't switch on the A/C compressor, but I can't see why not, it's exactly the same as an R33 system. If the output from the ECU is connected up correctly I can't see why it wouldn't work.
  11. Well Ska aka Cyrus has a R34 GTT PFC in his series one stagea, he says that it runs fine, and was originally putting out 220awkw. The only problem is he doesn't know how they got the PFC working with the non neo engine. Apparently it doesn't control the A/C compressor or the engine warning light correctly. I'm sure this could be worked out though.
  12. Does anyone know how the Power FC controls the VVT in an R34 GTT? as I have found out the Neo is different from the earlier RB25DET. Does it control it the same as the stock ECU eg: infinitely variable? or just like the older R33 engine eg: on\off? Cheers And if anyone knows, would an R34 GTT Power FC control the VCT on an R33 successfully?
  13. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the R33's have a seperate ECU for the auto trans.
  14. I wonder if Power FC's have an auxillary output, most aftermarket ECU's do. So when you reach a certain rev range it switches on eg: nitrous or a water spray. I imagine this could be used for the VVT. I'm interested in this as I'm in the process of doing a manual conversion, so the auto wont be an issue for me.
  15. So Basically, if Ska has a R34 GT T Power FC in his S1 stagea, he wouldn't have any VVT control. I wonder how much difference it actually makes?
  16. I remember SK was doing some testing with machined down DBA rotors on S1 rear. Was wondering what the outcome might be, SK?
  17. I'm quite interested in the Secret tweak you speak of Andy, and will be in contact in the near future about it mate. What I'm more interested in at the moment, is whether the R34 GT T PFC will plug straight into an S1 ECU harness, and if it will actually run the S1 non NEO motor successfully.
  18. That'd be great, how much easier would it be if we could get Mercury Motorsport to divulge their secrets.
  19. I think Ska may already have the proof, if he definately has an R34 PFC, and can confirm that the ECU plug hasn't been replaced. I'd still like definate confirmation if the R34 PFC will run a series one stagea though.
  20. I have a turbo off my stagea, good condition, no actuator though, done about 80k kms, only ever ran standard boost, they are the same turbo as an R33 unit. Only problem is I live near Newcastle NSW.
  21. Are the oil pressure gauges mechanical or electrical? , I'm interested in a boost gauge (PSI), volt gauge and electrical oil pressure gauge. All 52mm 270deg smoked face, delivered to post code 2324. Cheers.
  22. I'm almost certain the idling problem, is caused by the idle control valve, at the back of the plenum. Mine had the same problem when i first bought the car. I pulled it off and cleaned the carbon out of it, and that seemed to fix the problem. There is a thread on here from way back, which explains how to do this, don't ask me where though.
  23. Got mine on monday, cheers Bass, looks the goods. Can't wait to get it fitted.
  24. They are used, but in new condition, been in car for only 6 months, and I only drive it once a fortnight.
