  1. Hey guys, I hope this is in the right forum. Anyone know some good, cheap online retailers? Lately I've been looking at buying boost controller and a ECU and prices vary wildly depending where you look. E.g. Apexi AVC-R, one of the most popular EBC is $570 delivered some places, $880 at others. Blitz Dual SBC Type-S - anywhere from $395-$660 And it's like this with all products. I think it would be really cool if people posted links to their favourite online stores so that when we want a new part we can shop around easily and find the best prices. So far the consistently best-priced one I've seen is Nengun www.nengun.com . anyone else?
  2. I didn't realise R34s came in Sonic?? My R33 SII is Sonic Silver Metallic
  3. Makes sense with the snow tyres being skinny - smaller surface area means weight is evenly spread over a smaller surface area so the tyres sink through the loose top snow.
  4. I think he assumed they were spinning before he turned the corner, but by the situation he described they would have started spinning AS he turned and probably only a split second before he accelerated too hard and the whole car started sliding.
  5. Yeah when I first got the car I had it fishtailing (wildly) once when I had to turn into traffic and was blocked by a parked 4wd to see if any cars were coming, eventually I just said "f*** it" and went out into the lane, there was a camry almost on me so I floored it and got round the corner and started fishtailing badly, about 45 degrees one way then the other and with countersteering got it under control. Basically - don't hit the pedal too hard when you're turning a corner. Robz it happened to you because you were turning into the tunnel, stay off the accelerator until you get straight again and this goes doubly when it is wet.
  6. EU can't make law on such things...France is still an independant state, EU makes some agreed laws across the EU with regard to stuff like work permits blah blah but as far as day to day running of cities etc there is no way in hell any state in the EU would hand over its autonomy to run things as it sees fit.
  7. Leaving the keys in is just insane....I usually leave the doors unlocked, windows up, but hell if I'd leave the keys in, that's just asking for it, how hard is it to take the keys with ya.
  8. I've seen some semi-auto coupes for mid-high 20s, some sedans for low 20s. I even saw a coupe tiptronic for $27k for a dealer...and then there are some way up in the 30s, it's weird, on a car that relatively new (and most of them are bassically stock) condition shouldn't make up that much of a discrepancy?? Pretty sure at those prices I'd prefer a 33 GTR anyway personally.
  9. I want to know who "*****" is :'(
  10. Yeah the $950 is totally outrageous...so is $700, in my opinion. I'd pay about $200 if I wanted them, and if they were legal - I'm not sure about either of those things yet. I dunno, Skyline taillights are so iconic, I feel like it would be blasphemy to change them. Even when I was playing the Need for Speed Underground games I couldn't put ricey mods on the R34 taillights because it just felt...wrong lol. I actually like the LED ones better.
  11. Oh yeah I forgot to mention there's also full damage modelling
  12. Hey all, dunno if you all seen this but I just came across a new title coming out for xbox, release date supposedly about 3 weeks. (early may). If any xbox fans been waiting for a GT4 alternative for their consoles here it is! I found a demo of it on Mechassault 2 disc. Basically it has 230 cars, like GT4 but ferraris, porsches etc, can do full-on performance upgrades all the way up to ENGINE SWAPS . Also visual upgrades, body kit parts for all parts of the car, and from what I saw on the demo nowhere near as ricey as NFSU2. On the demo the driving physics is really good too, feels a lot like the GT series. Here's some features lifted from the official website: Make every car yours: Collect models from more than 60 top car manufacturers, including Mazda, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, and Dodge. Trick out sport compacts with real-world body kits, rims, spoilers, decals, side skirts, fender flares, and hood scoops. Add motorsport decals and team paint-schemes to supercars, GT racers, and exotics. Transform production cars into racetrack monsters. Tune it up: Take your car to the garage and install alternative engines, suspension kits, bolt-on superchargers, brakes, rims, racing slicks, and more. Fine-tune gear ratios, fuel-mapping, forced-induction pressure, tire temperature and pressure, and ignition timing for the ultimate setup. Experience the most technically advanced driving simulation on Xbox: Top automotive engineers teamed with experienced programmers to create an advanced physics engine for Forza Motorsport, designed to simulate authentic car performance. Cars incur damage and wear, which affects car performance. Advanced tire and suspension models respond to heat and pressure changes as well as weight transfer and aerodynamic load.
  13. Yeah in recent years I've heard 4WDs are becoming more and more of a problem in the UK and europe too. The majority of non-4wd users drive small cars that are good in the city, but 4wds are still and issue - the mayors of London and Paris have specifically said they will look at measures to ban them from the metropolitan area in the future.
  14. R33s aren't ugly. Some of them are poorly styled, some of them are showing their age because of poor/no exterior modifications. I think series 1 gtst's without any bodykit look dodgy mostly because of the rear spoiler - but as GTS33SOM said, that's personal opinion. Overall I don't think R33s are ugly at all, and frankly I think it's rude to come to a skyline forum and say "R33s are ugly" when about 1/3 of us here (at least) own R33s. If I thought R32s were ugly I would keep it to myself because I would realise that a) it's subjective and B) why should I care if someone else has what I think is an ugly car? Plus, in all honesty cars grow on you. I used to think R33s were unattractive, then after a while I looked again and thought "Hmm you know what? I can see where it's coming from now, it's a Japanese muscle car". You also have to look at it in terms of its Nissan stablemates. Put an S14a next to an R33 and notice the similarities. Same goes for S14b and series 2, S15 and R34, S13 and R32. Look at it in context. S13 used to look dog-ugly to me, and sileighty used to make me feel sick...now I actually like the sileighty styling, I'd buy one if I wanted a zippy second car. That's how styling can grow on you..
  15. Yeah the ones I posted are Activek, but how do they make them clear??
  16. A guy has these for sale on nissansilvia.com forums for the outrageous price of $950. They look...well interesting anyway. Anyhow, the bit I'm interested in is he claims they are made from original Nissan lights, he also has ones for S15s, 180s etc, claims they are all made from original nissan lights. I have to admit, they do LOOK like a clear version of the real R33 lights....what do you think guys, are they original? If so, how the hell is it done?? The original plastic is red plastic right? No way to "bleach" it.
  17. I think they have to go further than fixing a tax break....a council in sydney recently decided that because 4wds use more of the road's features - more parking, more wear to the road, more pollution, cause more traffic - they should pay commensurately more for local parking permits. I think this is the right approach - it should be extended across rates and regos. If they want the privelige of having an oversized, unsafe, unnecessary vehicle then why shouldn't they pay for it at least?
  18. Was looking around for an ECU for the auto too. Like Sydneykid I'm not keen on sacrificing long-term durability though. At this stage I'm looking at getting either an e-manage or SAFC, maybe SAFC because it looks easier to tune. Obviously it won't give the performance kick of a full chip replacement but I guess that's just life hey
  19. I think the link between unicorn and kirin is a bit stretched....that said though I've seen many depictions of kirin that DO appear (somewhat) horse-like, and they weren't western versions. Yes they also share features of dragons to an extent, but are often depicted more quadropedal than any oriental dragons, and they share lion characteristics as well, but they are often longer legged, more like a horse-shape with dragon/lion features etc...anyway it's not exactly a unicorn either. Bah let's face it, it's a Kirin, not a lion, nor a dragon, not a unicorn and it ain't no horse... The "real" reason Stagea has a unicorn on it is probably far more bizarre, and at the same time far more mundane. Ie the head of the design team liked unicorns and his co-workers didn't give a damn either way. Oh yeah, add on the fact that the unicorn probably embodies a heap of positive attributes that they want their car to be associated with - swiftness, mystery, legendary creature...and then remember it's a western concept and chuck in a good twist of weird for the Japanese market. And remember these are the same people who came up with car names like 'Gloria', 'Laurel', 'Silvia'....need we say more?
  20. Dunno whose this is...but goddamn reading about that makes me angry!!! Firstly, isn't it the cops responsibility if the car is a) stolen or B) obviously in an accident to find out who owns it (very very easy for cops) and contact them to find out what's going on??? I think it's very obviously likely to be stolen because if the owner had that same accident as IF he would leave it there to be picked over by thieves for two days. ESPECIALLY if he is THEN going to have it removed anyway as he apparently did. So if that was reported stolen and the cops saw it and did nothing and in the meantime it got looted of everything useful then the cops should be liable, and if whoever owns it comes on here then I guess he has the people from that BC thread as witnesses. Oh and the people who looted it...god I hope they were just scum thieves and not skyline owners themselves looting parts, because thieves should have their hands chopped off AND their own shit taken as compensation. That's the thing about thieves, they never seem to think it's such a cool thing when someone steals THEIR stuff. And if skyline owners would strip a car like that for their own 'lines...well god I just would like to think that wouldn't happen.
  21. Personally, I'd take the GTR. For a start, it's well - a GTR. This question is no different from asking whether a R33 GTSt is better than a 32 GTR. The only difference with this question is your factoring in the 'rare' factor of R34s...which will flood our market in the next three years I reckon. R34s are already becoming less rare, the rarity may be a factor right now but it won't be for long. R34's a great looking car, but for those who say the R33 is ugly well, I disagree. Some versions of the R33 aren't so great looking, mainly maybe a stock series 1 R33 GTSt but next time you see a 33 GTR in person go up close and have a look. It's a very menacing, agressive, muscular looking car with a lot of presence.
  22. I got a quote from JB at indro a while ago for a very basic job and I thought the price was outrageous...ended up getting the guy from repco next door to do it on his day off for a quarter of the price.
  23. saw a nice white 33 gt-r in toowong about 5pm today, and a white S2 with stock rims and exhaust (!!) in milton.
  24. Curses, now I got sidetracked for three pages then looked at the date!
