  1. If they have soggy brake pedals the pads need replacing maybe? Mine has ABS and the pedal is actually really firm and the brakes have just flat out surprised me a couple times when I've really needed them used them as to how good they are. This is the first ABS car I've owned but I read somewhere that if the brake pedal feels "spongy" then it's time to change the pads. Oh yeah and I missed that bit about Type-M's...ok as far as I understand it, in R32s there was a GTSt Type-M (with a bodykit, bigger brakes, etc) and a regular GTSt which was cheaper. There was also a Type-S which I believe was a lower trim level. In R33s there was the GTS25 Type-S (non turbo) and the GTS25t Type-M (turbo) and no non-turbo Type-M. And then of course a bunch of other variants like GTS4, Urban Runner etc, all of which were non-turbo. Urban Runner was RB20DE non-turbo (nice lol) and GTS4 was ATTESA AWD non-turbo. So anyway, by the time R33s came about all turbo skyline GTS25t's were type-M and all N/A ones weren't type-M
  2. Hi, yeah I have a series II GTS25t and am very happy with it, great car. If I had a bit more cash I prolly would have looked around for a 98 R34 GTT, but apart from that no complaints whatsoever, I love my car, and judging from the attention she gets so does everyone else As slow13dude said, GTS25t M Spec is a turbo RWD and GTS4 is NA AWD
  3. Hey first off, Settlers is well known for being a goddamn ripoff. Also I know someone who went there interested in a car and they wouldn't let him get an independent mechanical check - be very wary of dealers like this. Thirdly for 47k that would want to be the most perfect stock GTR in existence. If you really really love it then in my opinion get it completely independently checked and THEN offer them 40k, and be prepared to walk away (if they say no and you come back again they'll milk you). By the way I doubt there's any hurry cos that GTR has been at Settlers for a while now, I saw it first about three months ago and not sure how long it had been there then.
  4. Lol yeah but did you see the fatality figures in that table for F-series??? For the DRIVERS of the F-Series I mean...that's goddamn scary. From memory you're twice as likely to die in an accident if you drive an F-Series than a camry. And we all know what camry drivers are like.
  5. What worries me is that implies it's not the only SUV with scissor doors in the midwest, oh, I think I'm gonna throw up again.... With the bullbars and stuff...I swear it's 99% psychology...intimidation, feeling protected...all that stuff they said people drive 4WDs for. I dunno, it just sickens me though that people would put all of that before other road-user's lives. It's as if people in the 'other car' in an accident are the enemy or something???
  6. What if I said I didn't see a four door? Can it be a farkin anything if no-one saw it? If a four door falls in the forest and Strutto ain't around...
  7. Yeah well, aircon's overrated anyway, I did a few tests and worked out I used roughly twice the amount of fuel on a journey with aircon as I did on the way back with no aircon.... Anyway, organise it during the day (pref not logan) and I'm there. Maybe just find a large carpark somewhere with something like a subway attached? Or Maccas for all you grease-freaks
  8. Hey all, came across this link and thought you all might like a look, it's a pretty sweet looking car but I dunno about the woodgrain, it's kinda cool in a kinda bad taste way? Hell, the wheels and body alone make up for the crimes-against-interior. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/507023
  9. I must be blind, I can't see all the "bright colour showy" pics everyone's referring to.
  10. Hey check out this *ahem* tasteful 4wd including 24" chromes and scissor-doors. http://www.cardomain.com/id/bella1 Excuse me a sec I think I'm gonna throw up now....
  11. Yeah and 35mph isn't fast either, that's what about 60ks? So that's basically a speed-limit crash...16% chance of life-threatening head injury, one in five chance of life-threatening chest injury...I'd be too damn scared to drive if I drove an SUV.
  12. This is from an article in The New Yorker ( http://www.gladwell.com/2004/2004_01_12_a_suv.html ) and says it better than I ever could: Very interesting article. I saw some of the same research and sources in a Sydney Morning Herald article last year.
  13. How about we just change it to "women and carparks ...a recipe for disaster". (Except women in Skylines of course who are well known for being excellent drivers). I just saw a woman in a liberty backing into a parking space so slowly and then adjusting about 3 or 4 times to straighten up will cars banked up behind her so far that they blocked an entire lane of traffic on the road. Inconsiderate bitch, she could at least attempt to hurry but noooo she looked like she was doing everything as slowly as possible. Edit: Actually the liberty is a 4wd huh
  14. BUMP to the top..I'm fond of this ol' thread.
  15. I'd hate to be paying your fuel bill, hope you had some of those coles vouchers.. So now does the headlight just rattle around or something? I wonder if you can secure it with wire or something in the meantime if you can't find the part. I'm not near my car atm so not sure exactly what bit it is. I guess they'd be the same as an S1 so a wrecker should be able to help well enough, just don't act like you really NEED the part or they'll charge like a wounded bull... Unrelated but I know of someone who recently picked up a pair of rear brembo calipers off an evo 6 for $50 from a wrecker!!!!! Then he looked around and found the front cut of the same car and got the front pair for $75!! These things are like a couple grand each from Mitsubishi!! I think I'm gonna start cruising wreckers for bargains.. Oh yeah also do a search on these forums for any R33 front cuts that ppl might have taken engine etc out of?? If there's any around they might not need that bit.
  16. 3lit3 Fors3 ok, I agree if people take responsibility for their actions then they have the "right" (liberty would be a better word) to do whatever they like. The problem I have I guess is that if the law doesn't force them, many people won't take responsibility for their actions. Like if the soccer mum kills someone with the bullbar, unless she is held liable then she will consider herself free of blame - "if it's not against the law why shouldn't I do it" or "I wasn't charged so obviously it wasn't my fault, it was the pedestrian's" etc. Make 4wd owners take responsibility for themselves and their vehicles and YES it will be much better for everyone - for we who don't drive them AND for the responsible ones who do, because really it's the other ones giving them a bad name huh - just like us and hoons. Well the easiest and most obvious way you could do it is to introduce a licensing system specifically for 4wds much like with guns. For instance, unless you have a legitimate reason (ie you're a farmer and you need to shoot roos on your farm) you or I cannot go out and have a licensed semi-automatic rifle. This was instituted after Port Arthur. Basically the view was taken that unless you give a good reason why you need it you can't have it. A buy-back scheme was introduced. For those who go off-road every weekend etc - you don't need the biggest 4wd out there to do that, just like duckhunters don't need M16s. Restrict certain size/weight 4wds, or restrict their access to urban areas. Give them concessional special registration only valid in certain rural or semi-rural areas, or on legitimate travel to and from such areas (ie on weekends for recreational users). Oh and bullbars - I was out in the country this weekend and heaps of cars and some SUVs don't have bullbars. If people don't always need them in the country why would anyone need them in the city? You can't tell me those leather-clad prados or range-rovers are expecting to collide with a water buffalo anytime soon... As for whether or not people are likely to die from a particular crash - that's the easy part. Studies are run constantly on crash-test data, using every vehicle type on the market in virtually every conceivable situation. If you gave those scientists the type of vehicle (and whether bullbar etc) along with speed of impact and where the pedestrian was they could tell you with a reasonable degree of accuracy whether a particular vehicle would have proved fatal etc. Anyway, we're not talking about border-line cases where they're not sure, but cases where you could say "well this bullbar (or 2.5 ton SUV for that matter) was clearly the difference between life and death for the victim.
  17. Ok man, my mum wouldn't have been impressed though I think haha, she already said she wouldn't go up to my grandma's with me again in my car, and I wasn't even speeding (much). No more than the family-holiday commodores and magnas surrounding us anyway.
  18. Humans don't have a "right" to free choice, humans have whatever rights they choose to take for themselves or whatever rights the society they are within gives them. Humans in Australia have the right to vote for instance, that's not a universal human right though, just ask Cubans. People in OUR society have the limited right to choose from a limited number of things on offer at any one time. Like did we have a "right" to walk into our local Nissan dealer in 2000 and say "I'd like a brand new Nissan Skyline GTT coupe, with a warranty and I'd like to see an options list too"? 4wds aren't a right they're just available, and something being available doesn't necessarily make it morally vindicated by the way. Again, I could argue that I should have the right to choose to carry a gun on my hip, or the right to booby-trap my home, or the right to secede my house from the rest of the country and elect myself president-for-life of the newly-created Republic of Seanlandia, but in my free-to-choose society my government would emphatically tell me that I'm not free to choose these things (or many others). Anyway, my point here is that when I try to choose things that I may want to do but negatively affect my neighbours (like blasting heavy metal at 4am) I'm usually forced to desist. But apparently not if they "choose" to inconvenience, polllute, obstruct me by driving an SUV. I agree about driver training. As for manslaughter - as Krawler said, if you cause a death through negligence or irresponsible actions in any other way you're almost invariably charged with manslaughter, so why not bullbars? Afterall, just last week - epileptic man jailed for causing a needless death by driving knowing he has epilepsy. So why not soccer mum jailed for causing a needless death by driving with a bullbar she doesn't need knowing full-well what they do to pedestrians? The only difference I can see is the man had epilepsy whether he wanted it or not, the woman didn't even need the bullbar....
  19. My car simply runs better on optimax than ultimate. I've tried it several times thanks to posts like this and it just runs better on optimax. On ultimate it stalls more from the revs dropping and bouncing while idling etc. I accept that Ultimate may be better in some places/some cars but so is optimax, definitely.
  20. Nah scissor doors are harmless...if you want to do it, do it. My own personal opinion is that the doors are fine the way they are, I'd be a bit embarrassed getting out of one that had scissors actually (unless it's a lambo  ) and frankly I just got a better way to spend a few thousand bucks.
  21. I'm going up Cunningham's Gap today Unfortunately my mother will be in the car with me hehe... Also gotta watch for cops on the brissy side of the gap because they sit down the bottom of the hill with a speed camera and to stay within 60 you gotta ride the brake all the way to the bottom. Nice bonnet btw Stephen And don't worry about being overtaken it's better to drive a bit slower than to drive too fast and get a lift home or worse
  22. Well, my lawyers tell me I need to award the prize so...the prize is that you are now entitled to change your title to 'Box Identification Pimp' in Profile Options! Enjoy!
  23. Hard to tell from just that pic, but what colour was the 4wd? It's definitely scratched thru the paint on the front bar? Agreed about the dishonesty part...if someone did that to my car I wouldn't be TOO angry (so long as there's insurance etc) because I know that accidents happen. But if they did it then tried to get away with it, THAT would make me far, far more upset than the accident itself. Yeah prolly true about people arguing against performance cars, though I still think 4wds are objectively worse for everyone involved in most driving situations.
  24. ahahahah that's a good one mate
  25. Thanx for organising that btw Cy...we didn't get to meet officially but had a chat near the end I was in the silver gts25t near the end just in front of the 3 silvias. Was a really good night, everyone was responsible about their driving etc and everyone I met seemed like good ppl. Will definitely be coming to more cruises. If I can afford the petrol.
