  1. Ahh, i dont think so, i think he just burned the good tune onto the Knocking fuel map, and the A/F ratios acutally got better. No matter how much fuel he took out of the normal fuel map made any difference to the A/F as my ecu was always running on the knocking fuel maping
  2. ^^ Unfortunately its all we could do at the time, i know its not the best solution, but it will do until i get the knock sensors fixed in the future. i just want to get the car running on the good tune again. I will have to have a look in the ECU tonight to see if anything is wrong. Thanks someonestolecc
  3. Oh yea, Here are my mods if that helps at all, RB20DET manual EBC 3inch exaust + Dump FMIC GTR fuel pump Std turbo 11psi +pod Dr Drift re-map std ecu
  4. Hey there Just a quick question, i recently bought a new turbo for my Ceff, the turbo in question is a Rx7 Series 4 front Compressor housing and plain bearing core with a rb20 turbine housing on the rear, it also has the Rx7 steel wheel too and the rear housing has been machined out to accomodate the exaust turbine. The turbo was quite cheap so i bought it thinking that i could put it on myself and hoping that it wouldnt turn the RB20 into a lag beast. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has dome something similar to this, what power they got, what the boost response is like, if the Rx7 hitachi HT18 (i think) turbo will actually be any better than the std RB20 one? Also recently i had my car tuned by Dr. Drift (Sam) which was great as he tuned my std ecu and got all the A/F ratios all sorted out. only problem is that my knock sensors arent working correctly (i think) so he ended up tuning my knock fuel map instead of the normal fuel map as the ecu was always picking up a knock event and swapping maps to the knock fuel map. My problem is that my car has started running rich again (lots of black smoke under accelaration eg running rich as it was before), i thought this might be to do with playing around with the knock sensors and maybe getting them to work again? would it be possible to unplug the connections on the knock sensors to get the ecu to continually trigger a knock event and swap maps to the good "tuned" knock map? or can i just unplug the knock wires from the ecu to get it to swap maps? or will it just put the ecu into a different "safe" mode and not make any difference Here is a dyno chart of before and after results, and it also shows off some of Sam's (Dr Drift's) great work http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y65/Ceffy_SA/Scan10001.jpg Sorry about the long post
  5. Good to hear the Ceff is going alot better now Huddy, was alot of fun trying to tune your HKS EVC III around Pt Wakefield, had boost response like a light switch You still running about 1.1BAR through the 2530? Cant wait until to see it out on the track again some time soon Gettn a new turbo for my Ceff tonight, RX7 S5 comp, high flowed RB20 turbine, i hope its not going to be too laggy...
  6. Spotted a Black Ceff last night with some black rims on it at the lights just of McIntyre Rd in SA around 6:00pm on my way up past Tea Tree Plaza on the dam Bus
  7. Hey Huddy when did ya get your comp re-mapped? Hopefully your boost response will improve a bit more, especially with the new hks actuator.
  8. HEHE, I chose burn in hell Funny, i didnt even know Ceff's had that stupid chime noise at 105km/hr, mine must have been removed by a previous owner in Japan. Still dam annoying, my G/F's toyota soarer starts chimeing at 105km/hr, pisses me off something chronic
  9. I have some STD struts that i used recently in my Ceff to go through Regency... Well its not Cefiro stuff, its actually Laurel front srtuts (to bring it up to STD height) and R32 Skyline rear sturts, they are in fine working order and should get you through regency. You can borrow them if you like? Im in Adelaide And as HUddy said thats unfortunately how it works in SA
  10. No Worries Huddy, always willing to help out a fellow Ceff owner. I think your doing the right thing by leaving it for a bit, the clutch did feel a bit strange... Look forward to seeing it out drifting again If ya ever need any more help with it, gimme a call.
  11. Hey Huddy Did ya end up putting that boost gauge in i gave ya? If ya did what does the boost curve look like now? Did tuning the HKS boost controller the other night help at all? Oh yea, Crazy Ceff, its making big power!
  12. I bought my R33 NA disks off NissanSilvia.com from a private seller as well as some R32 turbo calipers for $300. Having some trouble bolting my calipers up thoug, they do bolt straight up but i have no brake perssure in my brake lines with the calipers asn R33 disks bolted up (brake pedal straight to the floor)
  13. Bad luck about the front ender. How is your intercooler? Not sure about your raidator, could be stock, was your car a factory turbo? looks alot thicker than my ceffy's rad, my car was originally a non turbo though and i dont think the radiator has been changed sorry to spam your thread but if yours is a Autech kit what is mine, i always though mine was a autech too? http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y65/Ceffy_SA/ceffy.jpg
  14. I have heard that you need to replace the master cylinder on a std non turbo Cefiro to a R32 turbo/R33 turbo or the brakes may be a bit spongy when you upgrade to the 4 pot calipers. I dont know if thats right or not because the master cylinders are basically the same? Just bought some R33 non turbo disks and R32 turbo calipers last night for my Ceff, will attempt to fit them tonight....
  15. I would be up for a cruise for sure!
  16. Yea i would be down for sure
  17. I though i would put mine up, came like it is from Japan so i guess you could classify it as a tough Jap 4door Oh yea and anyone got one of those cool chrome style cefiro front grills f/s, i would be willing to pay $$$ for one
  18. I wish i have some articles written up, i have only done minor things to my cefiro like installing HKS electronic boost controller, replacing manifold>turbo metal gasket, head deck install, replacing aiflow meter, boost gauge install and air/fuel ratio meter install.... ill send my details through and sign up, ill put the Cefiroz.com link in my sig on any sites that im on, cause Ceffys rock!
  19. Good luck with the site someonestolecc, cant wait till its finished,
  20. This is my 1988 Ceffy RB20DET (Was factory non turbo) Factory 5spd with 280km/hr dash Blitz pod filter GTR fuel pump 3.5inch dump pipe + 3.5inch exaust HKS EVC3 boost controller JIC Coilovers Camber adjustable towers + Tower brace Bigger anti roll bar at front + new bushes Std diff i think but very tight!
  21. Ahh, i dont think so i was at Mallala on Sunday for the drifts, i live up near TTP though, you would be able to spot my car it has a huge cruisingsa.com sticer on the back. So your ceffy looks similar to mine? got any pics, i would love to see it!
  22. Hey thanks, it actually came like that from Japan, heres a better pic if your interested http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y65/Ceffy..._SA/Cefiro5.jpg
  23. Only two votes so far for SA although there are quite a few in SA on the roads 99% of the time a fellow Cefiro owner will give me the thumbs up or a wave, no fellow EA Falcon owners ever gave me wave in my previous car (EA Falcon)
  24. Yea mine does the same thing for about 5-10 mins (depending on weather), i think its just the engine retarding the timing to create more heat and warm the engine up faster, you would probalby find that if your cefiro is turbo the turbo starts spooling up earlier and with alot less throttle. Does anyone know what sensor triggers this, is it oil pressure/temp or water temp or both?
