  1. Yeah simple logic but what is turbulence?...hmm i wonder...maybe a bit too complex for your simple mind. Dumps like HKS and similar are poorly designed in that they create excessive turbulence in their 'split' design. Excess turbulence in the gate separation pipe means more backpressure in that part of the dump, which means gasses are less willing to flow out of the gate and therefore more boost. If you have an 'OK' exhaust system its not a drama. If you have a very free flowing exhaust in which gasses are more willing to flow through the turbine wheel and main pipe, rather than the required amount flowing out the gate like theyre supposed to, that creates dramas. Thats what the problem was. So how you come to conclusion that tells you stock dumps are restrictive, even though they fixed the problem, god only knows. And thats the reason why in most cases, upgrading to those shiny exhaust parts is an absolute waste of money. But if you want to do it go right ahead. Sure we could all spend $1k+ on a nice Trust setup. The longest extension pipe would mean the biggest wang right?
  2. 1st cylinder failure isn't very common... Id definately be getting your injectors tested. Also you say you upped the fuel mix, what management?
  3. Well the fact that you have the NA supra that youre not happy with kinda makes things a bit more long winded in your case, but oh well. You need to firstly buy a cheap run about daily, such as the R31. Nothing wrong with those. Even a corolla or something. I have a Holden VS ute for a daily. Then buy your dream / ideal track-street car, go about modding it and whatever you want to do with it. Keep it registered though. Drive it on cruises and occasionally on the street, but risk being pinged. You can then drive to track days and what have you. The only thing with this idea is that if you break something at the track, you have to be prepared. Sure you pay 2 regos this way BUT you dont have the headache of trailers and tow cars. Ive done this for the last 4 years, and *touch wood* haven't ever had to tow the car home and overall has been minimal fuss. Again its about having spares and tools to be able to limp the car home. Also driving within limits and not being stupid. Russell once hit a wall during drifting at Winton and smashed the whole front of the car inc IC etc. With some spares and tools we managed to get the car going NA (bypassed IC). Simple stuff like that.
  4. I have mine right in the back left of the boot, up against where the factory jack usually goes. I too had the weight counterbalance in mind.
  5. Mate get over yourself! Youre turning this informative thread to shit. What Ash is trying to say is that the same turbo/engine packages that come from this one shop vary between stock and aftermarket dumps depending on how much money the customer wants to waste on shiny exhaust parts. The curves between the various packages are always very similar from what ive seen. Thats why they recommend NOT to waste money on aftermarket dumps and manifolds and just stick with the late model stock stuff. I used to like shiny exhaust parts but now I dont. I had problems, ive seen the light. Theres no magic behind it, just common sense.
  6. Everything that hasnt been marked sold is still for sale Also have: > RB26 Complete Head - $1600 > RB26 Sump and Diff Assembly - $300
  7. That CES stuff looks pretty nice! Although they have TERRIBLE customer service. Everytime I contacted them for pricing and delivery eta etc they couldnt tell me or the person who knew wasnt there and they never ever called back! Nor did they reply to emails! But anyway I had the HKS dumps with -5s and with my ultra high-flowing exhaust, i had serious boost creep. Creep from 18 to 22+, it was uncontrollable. I then went to R34 Stainless factory dumps and the problem was ALL GONE. I say bolt on a pair of 33 or 34 factory dumps, and get a nice front pipe. Just as long as the inlets to the front pipe are the same size as the outlet of the dumps (no need to get any bigger) youll be fine. Oh and dont forget adjustable cam gears for awesome increases in response
  8. Guys ive gotta say, this is seriously one of the best packages ive ever experienced... Bas is always washing, polishing, maintaining this car whether it needs it or not. Not to mention the INSANE amount of go this thing has, with midrange and top end kick to blow anything off the road, all done by such a reputable workshop. Gonna miss this thing man, sad to see it go. Bloody tuff.

  13. Hi guys, Im selling my GSR, as its time to move onto something just a little bit newer for a daily I think. Having said that I have never had any problems with it and it has always been really reliable with 156,000kms on the clock. Gets 400 city driving kms on $40 (98ron). It has a Jap-Spec Motor which breathes through a 3A Racing air filter and feeds through to a full 2.5" exhaust and out to twin 3" pipes. I had it serviced 1,000kms ago as part of its 5,000kms service ritual. The engine has never seen any more than standard boost. Outside, the body is in fantastic condition having had a full respray in its original white colour. The original bootlid has been replaced with a spoiler-less GL bootlid to eliminate the nasty GSR spoiler. The wheels are 17x7" Lightweight Racing rims custom professionally painted full gloss black, tyres with plenty of tread. Tinted windows all round help tie together the black and white theme as do the custom black/chrome badging. Huty duty lowered springs give the car the tough stance as well as tight and direct handling. Inside there is a Momo sports steering wheel/ boss kit and a nice and simple turbo timer, which always lets the car cool down properly. The interior and seats overall are very clean and in great condition, just the daily wear and tear. I am selling the car with a RWC which I will have absolutely no trouble getting as the car needs no work done or any money spent. Also the car still has 12months rego left. If youre looking for a mint unmolested GSR then you have to see this one. Asking $11,000ono. Thanks, Mat. 0400 558 030
  14. A couple of my mates got done over the weekend, I knew this was going to happen so my car stayed locked in the garage. So much for the big crackdown on drink drivers over the easter break...trust the coppers to grab anything they can. Rats.

    Dt Panels.

Yeah its possible. I wouldnt say wear and tear but more like paint fading and sucking through over time. That happens if the prep isnt done properly, ie the correct use of primers. Once paint is applied it will look nice and shiny and perfect, but over time the clear will suck through and dull off and give that nice orange peel look...which is what Kris has.
