Bridgestone Adrenaline
Bullet32 replied to STATUS's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
From the pictures that you have posted it doesnt look to me like "tearing", what it looks like is almost certainly a tread join separation. With almost all UHP tyres the tread is joined on to the casing after the casing is put together, they're not one piece, when the tread is moulded on to the casing the manufacturer almost always deliberately overlaps the tread join to reduce the chance of seperation. It looks like your tyres are "feathering" at the overlap point where the tread has been moulded. This usually happens when the tyre has suffered from excess heat build up for an extended period (such as drift or track racing). From my experience you should be able to wear the tyres down to the belts without the tread letting go (if they are built well) because where it is lifting is only the overlap point, the actual tread join would be further around the tyre underneath the top layer of tread. If you are worried about it you should contact the manufacturer or wholesale distributor though. I hope this helps -
Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them

Good to see someone giving the Federals a run on the track. Just a few questions: Did your dad use the 595 street tyres on the track or did he go for the 595RS or RS-R semi slick track tyres? Street tyres arent made to withstand the extreme temperatures and stresses of track racing, yes some are better than others but a street tyre will never perform on the track as well as a track tyre, you also have to factor in the price tag from brand to brand aswell. If your dad used a street tyre then perhaps the better choice for track racing would have been a tyre made to be used on the track? Also you dont say how they handled or whether he got great times or even how responsive they were. Not many serious racers rate tyres for how they wear, just the performance. Given the circumstances though what great service you got from Federal - You took tyres around the track "racing" fang the crap out of them and then they agree to replace the tyres... Try doing that to Holden if the gear box failed given the same situation, what would they say? At any rate good to see you have the confidence to give them another run. -
Registration Inspections In Nsw
Bullet32 replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
If it is modified in anyway you will have to take it to Dickson and they almost always fail you on something... -
Yeah that was me, I saw you too... I was kinda waiting for you to accelerate up on my right so I could say g'day but you stayed behind me th whole way. P.S. Your driving lights are really bright, you might need to adjust them down a little (or it could have just been cos my car is very low)

Yeah, I broke it at Texikhana... Hicas pump shat itself, leaks like a siv now, so John is pulling out the entire system. LOL - James can be pretty disgusting at times, we bet him $20 that he wouldnt do it... We quickly learnt that he can be bought pretty cheap

Aftermarket wheels need an engineers cerificate?? - Thats absolute crap, any engineer worth his salt will tell you that the only reason you need a certificate for wheels is if they change the track width more than 15mm. Think of how many cars there are on the road with aftermarket wheels and stereo, thats a sh!tload of cars that need engineering. Dickson rego inspectors are just failed mechanics with a grudge against the general driving public. Rant

Sunday sounds good but I wont have a Skyline to drive, its going in to Trojan on Saturday to have some "surgery" done.
-
I remember the days when the old ACT crew used to gather at Jerra pub on Tuesdays for trivia night, beers and dinner... What happened to that? *looks at Jayce* Hehehe They were some fun nights especially when James snorted salt and ate a chocolate mouse with everyones dinner left overs mixed in :laughing-smiley-014: I think we should arrange a weekly or even fortnightly meet up somewhere where people can sit relax and have a drink together. Just my two cents.

You should have asked me... We have the 595EVO available in 205/55R16 - Awesome tyre... Now you know
-
I know that this has probably been asked before but why are we not showing the times from the back track in the afternoon? I dont think that the morning times should be the bench mark because the track temp was cold and there was little grip especially for those people using semi slick tyres. There was also a lot of loose stones and dirt on the surface in the morning. The grip level in the afternoon was substantially better because the track temp was higher and there was less crap on the road surface - therefore giving the drivers a better chance to utilise their driving skills knowing that the car was less likely to lose traction. Perhaps an average from the morning and afternoon runs should be worked out and used as a comparison?

+1 for John @ Trojan.

2am Melbourne lock out? Wha?

Im glad to hear that you are getting some good mileage and performance from 595's Sorry but I dont quote prices on the forums, try contacting Trojan Motorsports in Mitchell if you are in the ACT for a quote.

Great photos Mark!

G-Money - They look like Subaru wheels and if you are planning on fitting them to your Skyline you could be in for a rude shock as the stud pattern on Skylines is 5 x 114.3 and almost all Subaru's (WRX's and Liberty's especially) are only 5 x 100 only the later models from about 2006 onwards had the same stud pattern as Nissan. Just some advice to consider

LOL, Ok then - I'll use my semi's, you use yours and we'll see who ends up being quicker than who
-
Ok then, so you'd have to be a computer nerd to know that?

I always try to treat people as I would like to be treated on here and I agree that we should try to keep the insults or agressive behaviour to a minimum... I have a pretty dumb question though - What the hell does "pwning" mean?
-
Quick question... Is anyone going on the dry skidpan with semi slicks on? I know that there are a lot of handbrake turns needed but the problem will be that I have a nice new set of semi slicks that I have just finished bedding in and I dont really want to shred them in one day.

I think I'll just meet everyone out there, there's no point for me to drive in to the city and then back out towards Queanbeyan... Plus I want to get as much sleep as possible

I use the 595 (ss) on the street and 595RS for track (sometimes street aswell) and the RS are very grippy but thats not to say that the regular 595's arent. HKS Hypermax D? - Are they really stiff? If they are to stiff then you wont get very good traction under power or cornering because the car will just want to oversteer all the time. Im no suspension expert but Im pretty sure that you need a medium - soft rear suspension set up to get the best traction under acceleration. Maybe ask around and see if you can dig up some opinions on the best suspension set up... Im pretty sure that Sydneykid knows his stuff when it comes to suspension. -
The 265 / 35 R18's wont be in until we sell out of the RS and we still have quite a few of them left. When the RS sell out they are replaced by the RS-R so there could still be a wait on some sizes.
-
30 People means more runs each and less waiting in between, dont complain!
-
Just an update on the new 595RS-R that so many of you have been waiting for! Stock is arriving now of selected sizes - 255/40R17 is the first size that we have recieved in stock which just happens to be the perfect fitment for GTR or the rear of GTSt (with aftermarket wheels). 595RS-R is the new evolution of the 595RS, the casing of the new RS-R has been reinforced with a steel belted sidewall to reduce flex and provide a much better footprint on the road in extreme conditions (such as track racing or hillclimb). The treadwear has also been reduced from 180 to 140 making for a better performing tread compound and stiffer tread blocks which helps reduce tread squirm and improve steering feel and responsivness. You can find more info at www.federaltyres.com.au or call your nearest Federal Tyres retailer.
