  1. Started new thread for the next round: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/442512-sau-vic-2014-motorsport-championship-round-4-winton-saturday-17th-may/?p=7269790 Entered.
  2. Since no one else has posted yet... Entries for non WRX members opened today: http://www.wrx.com.au/Default.aspx?pageId=1540753&eventId=899262&EventViewMode=EventDetails Note unlike previous days, Only Paid Entries Will Be Included in Entry List. This one is combined with Porsche again. Sup regs list 120 cars, 20 max per group. 19 spots left as of right now.
  3. Another update to the championship standings as I had Pete in the wrong group. There is something wrong with this picture.... 1 Craig Ferdinands Audi RS5 22 2 Ash Cosgriff HSV Clubsport R8 20 2 Chris Madden Nissan Skyline 20 2 John Packham Nissan 200sx s14 20 3 Aaron Barnes Nissan R35 GTR 18 3 Dave Marinucci Toyota 86 18 2014_ClubChampionship.xlsx
  4. The organisation from a communication point of view was good with the PA. Also don't think I have ever seen every flag point at Sandown occupied with 1 person, let alone 2! Had a chat with one of the WRX committee guys and can understand their position, wouldn't be easy organising these days and keeping them financially viable. I for one would be happy to pay a higher entry fee if it meant more track time and less entrants. Got told I was over driving after one of my sessions, don't recall going off the track or displaying any un-sportsman like behaviour but officials word is final so that's that I guess. Was also a bit disappointed to only get 4 sessions as entry was almost as much as the last PI day but you some people cause red flags when "over driving" But anyway on a positive note, still a good day out with everyone else and glad the weather held out. We got a good turn out with 16 SAU cars entered (was 12 at Calder and 11 at PI), so the social aspect, club putting on a BBQ etc is great to see. Though I don't recall seeing any banners....richo? Have guessed some peoples categories based on times so if its wrong let me know. And for LOL's or state the bleeding obvious, attached racechrono data comparing the prius and RS5. Horsepower is definitely king at Sandown. Lost 3secs on the front, 3.5 on the back and another 1 just on the straights! 2014_ClubChampionship.xlsx
  5. 20 car sessions at Sandown are a bit of a joke when you have people that don't know how to use mirrors, let alone with 140 cars. The Alfa round we did last year was 5 groups with 100 cars. Got 5x 10min sessions from memory. Another 40 cars, shit. And that's if there are no delays....
  6. Surely it doesn't matter how many cars? Class D - Std 2WD was just Ben and myself with 4 other cars doing a single round. I'd have thought a fair proportion of the member base would have cars fitting into that category. That said, one thing I like about doing the Maserati and other days is the variety of fast cars. Having some open class cars gives spectators something to come watch. f**k knows they're not coming to watch a prius
  7. More the merrier I say! Maybe its a case of... if build it, they will come?
  8. That said, still like to nominate Andrew Collins for the Motorsport Committee. And I'll be there.
  9. Entered! I'm gonna need my own prius class if you guys are AU3 as well!
  10. Something for the SAU committee but what about hiring a garage at these events for the club? Few people usually get them to get out of the weather so instead maybe get one as SAU for all the club members to gather and shoot the breeze between sessions?
  11. Funny bunch they are. If it makes you feel any better scrutineering gave me a hard time over my velo harness for being FIA and SFI certified, then tried to tell me that it wasn't possible and must be fake or mismatched set.
  12. Another vote for AD08's. My car has no power and weighed in at ~1265kg with full tank/no driver on the scales at PI but the tyres have been brilliant. Best I've used on any car. If I had to complain, they're a bit noisy on average country roads but then the car is also a tin can with no sound deadening. They even did ok in the rain at PI though I was too chicken to push that hard. Have done 10 track days from memory and about 15k on the street, they're still going. Some of the days were 20 min sessions and I just belt them from start to finish without issue. Again, serious lack of power is probably a significant factor there. I counted the laps from Natsoft which didn't include SAU NATS Mallala or Hillclimb days, nor 1 or 2 DECA's. PI - 155 laps Sandown - 18 laps Calder - 37 laps Winton - 27 laps So yeah, they might cost $50 or even $100 a tyre more than something else but its well worth it. Tyres and brakes are the last thing you should skimp on IMO.
  13. Yep awesome day, finally got under 2mins so was pretty happy with that. Noticed a few photographers in various spots, love to see some more around the track. That zed looks well sorted, impressive time.
  14. Ouch, but at least it was only cosmetic Entered, finally get the prius at Winton. Can't wait
  15. Good day indeed, quite happy with the prius doing a 1:12.5. Must have been an evo thing as one in group 2/8 got a bit carried away on the overtaking front
  16. Quite surprised at the prius getting quickest time on battle 1. Admittedly that was purely out of spite because Klaver made a big deal out of beating me on the first run lol. I made my feelings known haha.... Some other quick clips from my poorly placed gopro. Was hoping to see some some video or photos posted, guessing our resident media pro's weren't around this time!
  17. Another top effort by the organisers and volunteers, couldn't have asked for better weather either. Haven't had that much fun on the skid pan in a long time, even if I did completely fark up half the layouts. Shame about the stupidity off the track, thought I was just being a grumpy old fart.
  18. Used Pedder's Ringwood a couple times for wheel alignments and been happy with them. Initial alignment after fitting my coilovers (that was done elsewhere) and then again to tweak after a track day. Pretty sure one of the guys is a regular at WRX track days.
  19. Good work, looking forward to this one.
  20. Struggled with traffic most of the day, apparently you need HP for Sandown hehe. That said, still managed to do a 1:35.0230 in my last session. Richo you were right about the tyres, felt heaps better at 32 hot. Will try 30 next. Speed or serious lack there of best shown with video of Aaron and the fridge carving me up at warp speed....
  21. Won't help starting at the rear, he'll be lapping my prius in no time. Asking for times seemed pretty pointless. That said, overtaking won't be an issue if people are sensible as per any other day we've done.
  22. Had to skip this one, damn family members. Do they do these advan days often?
  23. Yeah weather sucked. Had zero grip in the rain so called it an early day
