I have the extractors from dondesoto, the rb30e ones with an rb25 faceplace, though they are to suit an r31, so you would have to get an exhaust shop to cut and shut it. I replaced them with some fujitsumoto's that dump into 3" for my rb30de

ive got 8.3, 2555deg cams in mine, peak power is 6000rpm peak torque is 5000rpm, verry grunty down low, perfect linear graph (thats with vct) im hunting for a front facing plenum, was looking at the greddy copies (cheap) +q45 tb, why do you need a high volume plenum? i would have thought when its at WOT its at WOT - so doesn't matter?
-
ok, to start with, cams are a must, its the difference between 120-130kw, and 150+kw with the 3L, thats just with regrinds, you dont lose drivability and it makes it a hell of alot more fun, and not much to pay, but yeah a budget tho - but in that case why balance? it aint gonna rev past 5k. As for injectors, you wont get far with the n/a items, you will need det ones if you want to make any reasonable power, and they cost like <$50. Safc can tune the injectors, as can emanage etc.
-
just had it going then, perfect, idles mint, starts first go, revs crispt and instaant, no flat spots, no splutter, pure q45 lov'n
-
im putting one on my car atm (actually in the middle of it, only on the net to find safc in/out settings) thats on a 30de, ill let you know how it goes. it sucks heaps at idle though, so with any luck the air speed wont be too bad, on an n/a 25 i really cant imagine you needing anymore than a std rb25 afm

is the cas the same as rb25?

No, the stock plenum is fine, BUT you need to bore it out, with a dremel or something, or take it to a proper machine shop. there are 2 types of XF throttle body, there is a 65 and a 68mm, both are easily big enough. It wont bolt straight on, you will need to drill into it to make the bolt holes line up, and you might have tps issues (best to use the xf tps and switch around the 2 end wires, thats for the 30e need to confirm for the 25...) that said, what mods are on your 25? cam? higher compression? headwork? tune? if its only mild mods, like exhaust/pod etc, then try a 60mm TB from a KA24e it more the airflow increase thats suited to your motor, and it bolts straight on, but you do still have to bore out the plenum (to match the tb size) or you wont get a gain. i put an xf tb (68mm) on my old 30e, with basic mods (mild cam, extractors, exhaust, cai pod, advanced base timing, remap, water plenum-bypass, GT40 coil pack, indexed over gapped plugs, etc) made heaps of difference, one of the most worthwhile bolt on n/a mods, but the engine would have benefited the same from a 60mm, as past a certain point, there was no more pickup. stock afm is fine, 75mm int. diameter you should pickup some info here, should be similar for the 25 as the 30e http://wiki.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?t...F_Throttle_body

P Plate Laws For Engine Modification?
SKiT_R31 replied to Cartz144's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
They never would, and probably wouldnt know where it was the cam cover would NEVER come off the engine. The whole point is, you drive around in a stock lokoing car, stock interior and stock engine bay, they'l send you on your way within 30 seconds. just be polite and say you just drive it for the badge, but you know its a jap taxi and its good on fuel being only a 2.5L etc... you have nothing to worry about, as long as its quiet, which i personally prefer anyway (for a daily), because you can get infront of people without everyone looking at you like your a hoon criminal. edit: the only thing you'd have to worry about is emmissions, which i highly doubt would be tested on a 'stock' exhaust, and with a decent tune on some good fuel (gogo E10) with o2 working and cat, aslong as the cams aren't outrageous, you should still pass ok. BUT once again a stock car, you wont have any problem. -
P Plate Laws For Engine Modification?
SKiT_R31 replied to Cartz144's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
you could pretty much garrantee doing that stuff would be illegal, part of the p plate law is law against engine modification. That said, they would NEVER know, all that internal stuff they could never find out, you've just gotta make sure you keep the engine standard looking, i'd be keeping the airbox with a highflow panel filter, stock exhaust manifold, high flow cat, stock turbo exhaust? just make sure its quiet. you dont want the car to sound lumpy, but if you sort the vct properly (r33?) it should idle pretty smooth, 60mm nissan tb, hide the ecu, dont have any rice inside the car or engine bay, or outside the car. that intake and exhaust would really lose sfa performance, and considering that means the cops wont even look twice, its you best option. What counts is whats in the engine . Decent cams, good compression, balence, tune, the right headwork and it will be a weapon. what do you mean crank shaft? -
After Market Ecu, For Hi-pow 30de
SKiT_R31 replied to SKiT_R31's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
nah as i wrote in my last post, what he ended up doing, was use the RB25 afm on one of the throttlebody's, with nothing ont he other throttlebody, each feeding into seporate pod filters. He then put 370cc injectors in the car (37% larger than n/a) and tuned the safc the rest of the way to bring it back on par with stock fuel mixes. I now have it Y pieced running through the RB25 AFM, the afm hits high 80% (untuned safc, stock 25det ecu) so it's definately pulling some air, its not maxing it, but if it had bigger piping to suck through, esp after its tuned, i reckon it would see fairly decent gains. The problem with ITB's is the 4x$ figure it'l cost me to setup, but they would be horny i reckon. HMMM either way it needs to breath more.... upping to 2x54mm to 2x 60mm's and y peicing that into the Q45 (or hitting MAP sensors with no y piece) is still an option... ugh hard choices... i like the even dispersion of air through the stock plenum with 2x TB's, but i hate hot air, need more flow, shorter runners are a plus as is shorter intake piping, plus they look heaps better... Does anyone have a front facing plenum on their N/A here???? -

How much are you after? A microtech is pretty ideal, my tuner has had alot to do with them in the past, the only issue i has is they can only hold 1 tune, is that correct?? I just really wouldn't mind having 2 tunes, one for high octane, high oxygen race fuel, and one for the best pump fuel. But for power figures, i agree this is probably the best way to go. top end is what its all about, im ok with letter it rev . Yeah cheers for that, im aware about the vct tuning i think you've mentioned it before? I think that will make a big difference though, as atm with the cams its completely out of whack. Im not quite sure i understand what your saying about don, so... he was going to just run 1xQ45 TB instead of the 2x 54mm ones? and he had an SAFC, why didn't he just tune the SAFC for a Q45 Input and an RB25 output??? The stock RB25 afm has ~ 80mm external diameter, minus all the crap inside it, it would probably have a total internal area of around ~ 70mm. If you remember dons setup, he used to have twin separate pipes, with the safc and off sized injectors accounting for the extra un-metered air flow. This worked ok, but a/f mixtures were all over the show, constantly changing between runs etc, and were quite random and very hard to tune, so i Y pieced them into a 3" pipe (75mm) and even though the was a drop in total area, i actually noticed a nice performance gain, which surprised me alot, but best of all, the car ran the same all the time. So you've changed your idea, you reckon FF is the way to go?? mmm ill look into some bench flow tests between the different plenums -

SKiT_R31 replied to SKiT_R31's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Cheers for the discussion, this is what i'm after. for starters ive worked out that 2x54mm TB's has the same total area of one 76mm TB, plus butterfly losses. My problem with it is y piecing it to go to 1 afm, then the long piping to get cold air, especially because it gets absolutely roasted by the extractors, all air would be hot as by the time it hits the head. The idea with a front facing, is its on the cold side of the motor, short piping, straight out of the engine bay to the cold outside air. Yeah i have a Q45 AFM. obviously im after whats going to make the most power, and if i can get more power from the stock plenum and twin tb's then thats what ill have, i just dont think thats the best way. I really would have thought 6 short equal length bell mouthed runners feeding into on front facing collector would have been better (esp for top end). Just not sure about losses in intake scavenging? The engine isnt anything like it was when don had it. Before i wasnt sure if it even benefited from twin TB's, now you can feel the difference between 98% and 100% throttle and i really think it would benefit from more flow, christ it sucks some air. But obviously an alternative would be twin 60mm TB's and boring + internal polishing the plenum, i'm just after the best result -

Ill give my tuner a call when i get home what about front facing plenums? for comparisons sake, do you think its worth over double price for this; http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SKYLINE-R32-...1QQcmdZViewItem VS This; http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Intake-manifold-Nis...1QQcmdZViewItem I'll be using a Q45 TB (im not saying im looking at buying either of them particular items, just trying to get some info on how the n/a would react with defferent FF plenums, if at all.) -
i also aggree with everything above. On that note though, i turbo'd an n/a car for <$1000, inc ecu, injectors, highflow t3, stock manifold, sidemount and piping, dump and exhaust, all second had though, went hard, just food for thaught. Your N/A engine would be fine, there would be no need to get a 25det, because to be making that sort of power reliably, your going to have to rebuild the entire engine anyway, and nothing will be left stock. before you decide a 10 second car is for you, think why, and drive a 12 second car, for most people a car such as an r33 in the 12's would be waaay fast enough, esp for street, and you can keep some drivability.
-
you'll need 'enough nos to level a city block' just put double welds on your floor pan, and ignore your computer, the manifolds fine.
-
dont do SFA, some have said they noticed a sliiigghhttt better response, but they probably had dodgy mounts waste of money, but they do look cool - but then ontop of that they can make your car vibrate
-
I've got some, how much $ do you think they're worth? with discs, heaps of meat cheers

ok, i've finally sorted finances so its time to buy a few things for the old 30DE, but i really cant decide which is the best way to go, im really after daily usable power, so a flexible tune for slow daily driving, and WOT, ontop of this, its not 100% necesary, but i wouldnt mind having the ability for more than one tune as i wouldnt mind trying some high oxygen race fuel in it (like the shit thats 35% oxygen). sorta things ive been thinking are just the usual power fc, microtech, or even somthing like the greddy emanage ultimate, although its a piggy back, i like the features like 2 tunes and being able to run off the 02 sesor to keep a certain a/f mix (so i could keep it reasonable on random oxygen fuels). but i wont touch it if its going to be a paint in the arse to tune and it wont net me the same power as the others. background on the car? 255deg cams with 8.3mm lift, qdj ex. cam gear, 10.5:1 CR pistons, shaved head/block (up around 12:1 CR now), vct connected (and i would like the chage when it kicks in etc for ideal performance), Fujitsimuto Extractors (JASMA) 6-2-1 mandrel, large primary's dumping into 3" collector. Full 3" exhaust, with SFA back pressure. 25DET injectors, bosc 023, malpassi fpr, etc. car made 151rwkw with sfa done to it, stock 25de ecu, 10.5:1 CR, no cai, rb30e tiny extractors (wildcat :|) and a 2.25" pressbent exhaust. with those cams etc and twin tb's it make heaps more than that now, its like comparing a 25det to an rb30e, you cant tell its the same engine. other things im going to be buying at the same time is a front facing plenum, and a large 80-90mm tb, and a q45 afm. I've already got a 4" apexi pod, this will all be boxed where the battery normally sits with the underneath cut out for CAI. I have a dodgy keyway and damaged balencer, i was going to replace it and was wondering if i would get ANY benefit from somthing like a romac? (without getting the whole bottom end balenced with it) and any other bolt ons it'd be worth getting... also just a note, the car will more than likely end up with a wet nitrous injection 60-100hp ontop of that. cheers

doesnt even sound like its revving!

give you missus a big kiss for me! thats damn good of her aye turb's is a bit rich for me, but i will just note, try ADVANCING the base ign timing on your car. Like as far as you can before detonation. I bet it fixes your boost problem. (if timing i too retarded the exploding gas goes out the exhaust causing the turbo to sin its face off even with the wastegate open) cheers
-
we need thread for 'sleeper' mods, mods a cop wouldnt pick up on. i'd say, max reground cams, (255deg, 8.mm lift), cam gears, high flow panel filter (keep air box), headwork (light shave - for ~ .5 - 1 CR, p&p, thin head gasket) stock exhaust & headers, ignition timing, powerfc and tune, etc) for a few k$ you can have a pretty responsive stocker with a bit of punch (as quick as a gtst) and it will look standard . with the stock exhaust, a good tune, vct setup correctly it will idle normal, sound quiet, and go hard
-
you can have your cam gear out a tooth, i did with mine, and i have 12:1 CR and high lift cams. you cant really tell a cam by looking at it, but yours could have a reground one, or an rb20det red top one etc, you never know what those crazy japs could get upto if you take off the cam gear over you can see if its got adj gears also while your at it, wind some more ign timing into it, its prety cool over there isnt it? you can net a bit more power that way...
-
The dip is in the torque curve, maybe something to do with vct timing wrong for your setup? sure it doesnt have different cams or have the cam gears adjusted (or a tooth out)?? thats abnormal for the peak power to be so far up, is it stock ecu? what happened to limiter?? needs to be dumped, 3 inches minumum!
