  5. liz is a boy? so that's what that was.....
  6. I'm surprised it took until page 2 for someone to say that.. although maybe it was all the "suspense" on page 1 fatz calls everyone a pussy, and he's usually right. but good on you for giving it some stick - to have a scrape you were obviously pushing pretty hard and to have a minor scrape means, like already said, that you have done something right to avoid having a bigger one!!
  7. are they definitely metallic? pick them out, wash them and have a look. i see specks in my oil pan after an oil change but it's just dirt. once the sump plug is off the next thing i do is pull off the filter, and a bunch of oil comes out and drains over the crossmember and into the pan. all the dirt that stuck to the old oil from the LAST oil change on the crossmember is going to get washed off into the pan! so I'm not worried unless it's definitely metal.
  8. if it's a loud whirring then the bearing is on the way out. my car was basically a minter when i bought it and still made a little noise in neutral, clutch out. it's not noticeable unless I listen for it though, and I have a stock exhaust. when you get the clutch done, tell them about the noise symptom and make sure they grease/replace any bearings that need it. opening the gearbox is a bigger deal so I'd try and avoid it unless you've done the clutch and the noise is still just as bad.
  9. maybe they were running without oil to save weight? seriously though that's gotta hurt the hip pocket! any motor will die if you push it hard enough, interestingly mazda's next rotary will be a clean-sheet design. there is not enough left in the renesis to tweak it for the next model.
  10. Meh, i've got friends running more than that (16+psi, 270rwkw). The thing to remember is that the candle that burns twice as bright lasts half as long. Maybe you can run 14psi for 3 years, 18psi for 1 year and 20psi for 6 months after which you need a rebuild. I pulled those numbers out of my bum, when you start to lean on the motor hard your tune becomes very important.
  11. petrol is made using old trees. putting bark through your motor will ruin your bores. sugar is converted to ethanol, after which the fact that it came from sugar is irrelevant. besides, mythbusters tested the sugar in the gas tank idea and busted the sphincter out of it. as for ethanol being corrosive it depends in what concentration and what your car's fuel system parts are made out of. In Brazil they run E85 (85% ethanol) and their cars run fine. A manufacturer just doesn't stick their neck out and say "my car will be fine" unless they have to, which is what is happening here. Sydneykid has been running 100 RON fuel for 12 months and has not had any issues.
  12. It's a little known fact that Snoop Dog works at Nissan and it actually stands for "Rizzle Bizzle" (or some other stupid crap that Snoop would say )
  13. more than you can afford, pal (ok so you should have said "retail", but close enough)
  14. hmm.. i'm going to need to bring out the flashing GIF (blitz will understand). if you have epilepsy now is a good time to look away... (no that's not a gay joke. thorry boyth!)
  15. That was so funny I just pooped a little. Sorry to say this, but your tuner doesn't know what he's doing. Sure you like him and you feel bad taking the car somewhere else, but is that important enough to you to let him potentially DAMAGE YOUR MOTOR? Would you feel better then? PFCs have no knock retard. None. They can flash the check engine light at you but unless you move that right foot of yours the car will ping itself to death. multiple batches of bad fuel is unlikely, unless you filled up from the same place or got unlucky and filled up at 2 servos when a petrol tanker was dumping fuel and stirring up all the crap in the servo's underground tanks. One of my friends had his car tuned by someone who was a "really nice guy" - turns out the tune was dangerously lean. Always take it to someone who knows their stuff.
  16. did you disconnect the bottom plug on your TPS? the timing will jump around a lot if you haven't done this. 25 degrees is a lot, but if your PFC was tuned like that then if you knock 10 degrees of timing out it will run like a dog. i am surprised your tuner didn't realise his ignition advance values were much lower than they should be and check the base timing though.
  17. good for you, but your opinion is irrelevant here. 92dB is a long way from being quiet, in fact 84dB is the cutoff for continuous exposure without hearing damage. if you want to beat your chest about having a loud exhaust find somewhere more suitable.
  18. yep.. unless you're making huge power the stock airbox is no restriction. and blocking off the BOV will make a loud chattering noise on gear changes. sounds awesome but if you want covert don't do it
  19. unfortunately my alarm suppresses the headlight warning, because the car thinks it's still on. grrr. if i had the right wiring diagrams i'd figure a way around it..
  20. I'd like to know if I can have my cake and eat it too, as well R33 S2 standard exhaust except for nismo rear muffler. Would like to open it up a bit but don't want more noise
  21. Does anyone know a good wheel repair place (preferably northern beaches) who will strip the old clear-coat off rims and re-do them? I assume they acid dip them or something, mobile wheel repair companies certainly don't do what I'm after.
  22. I've heard the opposite about water temp sensor, that the car drives fine when warm but like an absolute dog when it's cold. maybe there are 2 failure modes. GTR? yeah motor out job mate.. you gotta pull the motor out to do anything on a GTR
  23. never heard a car ping at idle. your ignition timing would have to be spastically off for that to be the case. my car does tick quite noticeably at idle, and if i crack the throttle open and give it another 350rpm then the ticking stops. i think it's just the normal injectors or one of the idle control circuits at work. not worried about it.
