Dan I agree with you on every point there except the one about road trains doing 180 - I know from personal experience that they don't do 180 as they are electronically limited to 100kph in the engine ecm - which can tell from gearbox and diff ratios when it is made at the factory what speed it is doing. And also any workshop that mucks around with governers on the truck are up for big fines if they crash - thats one of the first things they check when a truck crashes is the ecm printout to see if it was governed and to what. But yeh everything else was totally agreeable

The 4wd's ARE bad whether used incorrectly or not, although using one where they are designed to be used is fine, thats their purpose.

Dan thats exactly my point! The 4WD's have these problems WITHOUT driver error included, whereas an import doesn't - it takes a driver being stupid to cause the problem!! which addmitedly happens more often than not because of their appeal to people of a young age who may be inexperienced at driving..

Cam - I was saying driver error aside, a 4wd is a more dangerous vehicle on the road than an import purely because of what it is, its shape, size etc - any vehicle can be dangerous if your a f**kwit about things...

shyster - about the fellow in the R34, thats not the cars fault - that is the drivers fault, sure if he was in a 4wd he wouldn't be doing those speeds BUT the fact is it was his choice to go that fast, not the car. It was a very unfortunate thing to happen. If used correctly the car isn't dangerous whereas the 4wd still would be, just by its presence on the road it blocks visibility etc. The import however doesn't.. and yeh a higher tax for 4wds would be ideal... could deter some people from purchasing...

Honestly - do import cars cause problems on the road?? No.. (This is not including driver error etc which can happen in any car) I just don't see how an import could. You might say an import is fast and speeds a lot - but that all depends on HOW and by WHO it is driven by not because of the type of car it is.. You might say that we are two different groups complaining about each others choice of cars, but its not - 4WD's are a genuine problem on the road - the main thing I hate about them is visibility issues they cause, particulary when pulling out next to one..

If my car is noisy - so what? Its against the law - but its not going to hurt anyone... (unless excessively noisey - like enough to peirce ear drums - but really noone is gunna get away with that..)

Cam - the arguments you put forward against the import side of things are fair enough - but - import cars don't cause problems on the road(admittedly the drivers can and will) that 4WD's do. Noisy exhaust - not gunna make someone crash, dark tint coupled with a lowered car - not gunna be a problem for someone to see over/around.. lowered, hard suspension - which by the way ruins your handling and braking distances - that statement is a bit general, it should be improperly set up lowered and hard suspension, otherwise why the feck would race cars use it??

Vortex = 95 My mate put it into his supra and within like 100k's his plugs were fouled... mind you it ran extremely rich... but still... I have filled up everyday for the past 5 days for when they eventually run out...
