launch in 2nd gear if you need to get to 100 quick, time lost in mid is gained from lack of change up.

http://www.keepntlimitfree.org/ has some stats which may be applicable. unfortunately it'll just keep getting that way unless drivers and educators move up a rung and so do cars. Maybe to keep crap drivers off high limits they introduce a 'super license' of sorts and if you have one you can then drive in the 'open right lane/140km/h' of some roads? That will mean current crap drivers will have to sit through intensive training/tests or fail and continue in the left/middle lane only (subject to traffic). P platers could also be subject to the left/middle lane only pending say 12 months of blemish free driving, and perhaps if you commit any offence such as running a red light, speeding, etc. contrary to the road rules it resets the time for a further 12 months? therefore you have a system where new drivers can be tested in the new tougher regime and are P platers to get their eye in before 'graduating' to the 'super license' (maybe a retest at this point?) and existing drivers can try their hand and see if they are good enough or stick with the 'standard' license. Drivers and cars should perhaps be tested/RWC every year for the first 5 years, then every 3 years until age 65 before every year again? Let's face it, when we are young we are sometimes stupid and when we are old we don't have the same reaction times anymore. This type of system will not penalise any existing drivers as they can drive as they are now, and will allow for standards to increase for those drivers good enough. It will also mean that eventually the bad drivers should be reduced as old ones stop driving and new drivers are better taught. Then the system can be updated so that if the limits increase, so too can the training and criteria for gaining the 'super license'. It can also mean international/inexperienced/scared drivers can still drive but not interfere with experienced road users.

radar detectors are legal in WA. radar jammers are not. yes i've seen detector/jammers mounted and hard wired in cars, but if you know what you're looking for (I assume a cop would?) they are easy to spot. I just saw on the news about the new 'video' cameras they are going to use, not sure of how they would work or be detected. I like the police minister going on about the more cameras the safer the roads, without any statistics to back that claim. Interesting how they say 1/3 of revenue will go to victims of road trauma, how about the rest going to fixing the roads and educating drivers better to fix the problem first.

sweet, anyone want to meet up at city west this saturday night? I guess it's every weekend

no radio of Webber, so assume either he got instructions silently on his display to perhaps turn the car down or noone told him to hurry the f* up to chop off Vettel. You'd think RB would want him ahead given they need to keep someone close to the Macs in the WDC and Webber happens to be closer at this time.
-
probably doesn't want engine to blow, whatever the problem is they'll fix it so no penalty come next race. Probably run fresh engine/gearbox in next race without penalty.
-
also someone forgot to tell Webber that Vettel had a problem and he should have been hammering it and probably could have got 4th

Their effectiveness is limited, and pretty much useless for laser/handheld as when the detector goes off it's pretty much just telling you that you've been done. My old radar detector wasn't very effective, and police won't hassle you as long as you don't stick it in the middle of the screen. I had a detector for about 2 years out of 15 years of driving and I have never had a speeding ticket. Didn't really change my driving habits and during the time that I had the detector it didn't make me feel like speeding or anything. They are useful for people with lead foots to help them change their driving habits, as I find it did make you think twice. I never relied upon it to get me out of anything.

I may have found a co-driver, considering neither of us have touched one of these karts we could be one of those fabled back markers aka Spa 2001

Q: (Livio Oricchio – O Estado de Sao Paulo) Mark, was your strategy to keep Vettel inside, not to make him brake before and you keep your position, even if you brake late, he would go straight? MW: It wasn’t my plan to get him on the inside but he got there and I thought OK, I would just stay in the middle, as straight as I can, to make his line as tight as possible into the next corner obviously. And once we got to the braking point, he was obviously in a very strong position, but before we got there he came across to the right and I couldn’t react fast enough, because I wasn’t at all expecting that at that point, and that’s why it happened so fast and there was contact. Of course in Seb’s car, it obviously feels very bad for him that I’ve turned left into him, but I’m pretty confident that there was some drift from his way and then it was a f*ing disaster. So you have the line. I think that sums it up. edit: I would laugh if Vettel sports a shiner at the next race meet..."ah I walked into a wall"

Senna caused lots of accidents in his time, he's very aggressive and goes for it. that's fine if you scrap cleanly and come together because of a wheel lockup or loss of traction but turning into the car was foolish. Obviously Vettel wanted the cleaner track to brake because he would have know if he held his line then Webber would have outbraked him into the corner. Webber could have moved aside and gone into the dirty part of the right side of the track too but what driver would allow an easy pass, even for a teammate? Just look at button and hamilton, noone wants to give an inch when it's for a place, especially for 1st. It seems obvious to me that RB think Vettel has the better chance of winning the WDC and want him to get maximum points, Webber is the buffer boy. They probably were not expecting Webber to be as competitive and therefore would suit well as a 2nd driver happy to take the scraps and block opponents as we know Webber is usually pretty good at defending but not so aggressive in overtaking. Not so much the cakewalk for Vettel he thought it would have been this year.

dodgy beechboro drivers. can always file a report with the cops, shouldn't be that hard to search parts of a plate and match up with a car make/model. Ok, it 'shouldn't' be hard but the cops probably can't do much because of the difficulty in accurately identifying the driver.

Our New " Sports Waghoon" R36 Passat.
mickey replied to msports180's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I saw a black R36 in the city, nicely understated I think. Less chance of eediots keying it I guess. -
I noted the tampons on his ears too, Nicole will accessorise him soon.
-
muhahaha fark don't you want to smack Vettel in the head only chance for Webber now is big drops of rain.
-
if button conserves his tyres and it rains that'll be a waste because the frontrunners will probably pit before the tyres fall off and they switch to inters.
-
meanwhile, how do cops lock up their wheels? I'm pretty sure it would be an FG or VE they are driving with standard ABS, so at worse they dropped the anchors and broke very hard. I'm with everyone on the bad pulling out of traffic 101. Maybe the cop cut you some slack because you were on your P's and a more experienced driver should know better, which I think makes sense. Just don't end up like those tosser P platers on the road that think they are the best drivers around because they've played gran turismo for 4 years.

bugger I wish I had money, I'd sell my white TE37's and get these as I was looking at powder coating my set something like this colour.

post some pics up to make it easier. gl! -
prediction for tomorrow is for Hamilton to win if there's no gremlins. I think the car's high speed corner and straight line pace will make it easier for the mclaren to get a ahead of the RB's in the first few laps and with the pace coming out of a corner it will make it very hard to overtake them. They're at least 5km/h faster than the other cars in the speed traps and the RBs are well down on top speed. The RB's need merc engines. edit: also while I'm at it, did anyone see the question time post qualifying? That question from the floor about whether Webber/Vettel had gone out at incorrect times (i.e. Webber says he should have gone out last) seemed to hit a nerve in Webber and Vettel judging from their facial reactions...it seems whoever's leading the points race should call the shots on timing for things like pit stops, qualifying and the like and I think Vettel still thinks he's the "1st driver" for RB. A little competition suddenly makes things different ala Prost v Senna.
-
not sure, op probably thinks he should have been done for failing to give way properly...or just for driving a skyline?
-
Yeah it's old news, give it a shot and you won't be disappointed for $30. If you're too nervous I would trust K&N above the stock filters for $100.

ok of course motorsport in general, including F1, contribute to the R&D of cars in general. There's hundreds of inventions that NASA has founded for use in the space program that are used in everyday life. Things like invisible braces, memory foam, teflon, shoe insoles, etc. I'm sure F1 has spawned a myriad of things that also have been used in normal applications. By your reasoning there's no point in motorsport in open wheelers because noone really drives them, should just be maxi taxi racings, and just to keep it all 'useful' everything should be legal so cars should race with normal road tyres and fluids. Extreme forms of motorsport is what makes the breakthroughs in technology which trickle down and may be used even in non-motorsport applications.
