  1. Avoid the chamelon MNP colours I think, just too much hassles and the changing colour paints are so 90's fad...it's gone now. Obvious bias for me was the Bayside blue, mainly because that's what I picture a R34, much like I picture a R32 with gunmetal grey and R33 with MNP. Blue does stand out a bit though because it says "I'm a GTR" which can be annoying. I would say the best colour for resale as when I was looking I wanted a BSB. Black looks fantastic but, as with my other black car, it's too hard to keep clean constantly. If you are the type that cleans your car every week then that's not really a problem because it'll stay clean often. Lighter colours like White and Silver are easiest to keep clean and it stays inconspicous and often mistaken for a garden variety R34.
  2. ModYourCar have a car cover that doesn't touch the car I think...lemme see if I can find the linky I saw before... http://www.modyourcar.com.au/touchless-car-cover-p6931 there ya go...seems quite expensive though, not sure how sturdy it is in a strong breeze. just read it, says it's usually for indoor use, so maybe no go unless you can secure it.
  3. If you're going to get a porsche, get some form of 911 (and not the 986), the rest is crap. If you gotta get a rex, MY00 or nothing. Failing that, Ford sierra rs cosworth or saphire cosworth. Saphire's are nice sleeper sedans.
  4. Or if you got a mate ask him to put a battery charger on it every couple of weeks to top it up. Pain in the arse resetting all your audio and clock
  5. some of my cars of choice within budget would be RX7 RZ, BMW M3 or M5 (E36/E39), F6, or maybe even a boxster...ah what am I saying, why get a gay looking 986 boxster...
  6. Welcome back to the TE37's, you can't go wrong
  7. burnouts on street tyres = fail. guess if you know the history of the tyre that's ok...wonder where they get them from...
  8. Ah when you test drive a car you should always be able to give it the beans to redline, regardless of if it is an excel or a ferrari. At the end of the day, that's the manufacturer's specified limit and if it breaks doing it then it is not your fault (of course user error ploughing into that tree or getting the wrong gear is different). But always ask before you do it, it gives the seller an opportunity to come clean "err you don't want to do that, the head gasket has a crack in it"...so problem solved
  9. Hey there I'm getting that family SUV or large sedan (wife doesn't want a wagon otherwise I'd have talked her into a stagea ) so I'm looking for a new or near new car (leaning towards a forester) and visiting the dealers. Do dealers really think people are that stupid? I mean I know they're in business to make a profit like anyone else but the number of times I see the pink slips showing a price for a demo/2ndhand car at equal to or more than the price of the new RRP for that vehicle astounds me. We all know that we gotta haggle with dealers to get a good price but I'm wondering what people have been able to talk those dealers down to? Not private sales as of course private sellers have their own reasons for selling. So what bargains have you guys got off a dealer?
  10. he wants to sell it quick? he's offering a test drive and I'm sure he wouldn't mind a proper inspection. otherwise what's the reason for the urgent sale?
  11. brother in law had some tyres delivered, no problems from what I heard and good prices.
  12. nice work...not to much a fan of the super contrast/saturated look though.
  13. It is ugly though...it makes the cima look pretty. I prefer the jzx100 sorry
  14. pretty sure most coilovers are illegal as well.
  15. wonder what sort of handicaps each competitor runs?
  16. just fit xenons...just don't go too blue or you'll get a work order i imagine (dunno about Vic).
  17. I go through that intersection every day, saw it flash once I assumed it was for a red light, but looking back I wasn't sure if the guy went through the red or was speeding...he appeared to be going at a fair rate so maybe he'll get done for both touch wood, yet to get a speeding ticket in almost 15 years of driving
  18. yep NT is now 130km/h limited. I believe that the road toll increased after they did this...fantastic effort there. Only non limited roads are those not gazetted public roads or accessible by the public. They are the only truly unlimited speed roads (i.e. private tracks). Back on topic I find the best roads are those unknown ones in the middle of nowhere. There's no one that sticks in my mind mainly because I don't bother reading what road I'm on but there have been some great roads, they're just not necessarily the main roads. The back roads are where it's at where you can enjoy your car within the speed limit.
  19. team orders for Brawn would be to slug it out...after the Renault thing I don't think it would be wise for any team to ask a driver to move aside if the other driver was a legitimate candidate for the WDC. At the end of the day I don't think Brawn would care who won as long as it was one of their drivers and if they fight it out to the death they're looking at a 1-2 finish in the WDC too. Honda must be spewing
  20. I took a lancer into a dealer to get serviced and it came back with the back end smashed up...they said a pajero had hit it in the workshop...even if this was true it just goes to show that many don't take care with other people's cars. At the end of the day it's worse than what you expect a rent a car to go through. I work with dealers often and between the sales staff and mechanics I'm surprised more stuff doesn't get screwed up with things like redlining on a cold start to handbrake turns in the parking lot. It's one of the 'perks' of being around different cars. Most wouldn't pass up the opportunity to give a car some beans. You're probably stuck with them on the warranty job though if they haven't fixed the original issue properly.
  21. There are speed cameras in the tunnel but operated by MRWA so it's more for traffic flow purposes to monitor how the traffic's going. The cameras have yet to be setup for police purposes and are only used in real time i.e. not recorded although there is the capability but MRWA prefers not to do it (as with other real time cameras located around freeways). It could in theory be used as speed cameras if they wanted to. My sources suggest that police have installed point to point cameras outside the tunnels to measure the average speed of motorists and therefore fine drivers who average over 80km/h for the tunnel section. I believe it is in the testing phase although I'm not sure when it will become fully operational. Exactly how accidents occur in the tunnel (save for issues with the vehicle) is beyond me.
  22. if you're going to get pods, consider 3A racing filters, around $30 and better than Apexi, Blitz or even K&N. article
  23. I think you can get an R35 for about $160-170k if you ask nicely on the road that is, so that's a pretty good price really for the performance.
  24. FWD drift action in the accord? anyway, it's very easy to get the accord to understeer at least, maybe when you do that into the curb you'll think twice If you want an R33, consider a non turbo version at least so you only injure rather than kill yourself when it's winter. I think you should learn from a lower power car about car control, consider an AE86 if you want RWD goodness, and learn it on the track, not on the roads. Wheelspin = loss of licence on the roads.
  25. I don't think you can register it interstate? unless you mean get the dealer interstate to register it in WA for you but not sure how that works other than via a transfer of licence to WA? Would save going over the pits I guess. When I got mine from Victoria the owner deregistered it (he gets refunded back the rego so factor that in negotiations) and then you get a temp permit, take it over the pits and rego it. Transport itself costs about $1,800 is a sealed container (apparently).
