  1. my my, such wit and guile! I really wish you wouldn't talk about your mother like that. I was merely making an observation. I get a bee in my bonnet when people buy these cars "coz they're kool" and have no idea whatsoever about mechanics. I've driven an r32 GTR, and to tell you the truth, I was overwhelmed by what an amazing vehicle they are; I didn't feel worthy of it at the time I drove it, as I knew that you would need to be fairly switched on to drive it to it's potential. An (89) R32 GTR is also a 16 year old vehicle now, so I would like to think that those who drive them would have an inherent understanding of the goings on under the bonnet, the high likelyhood of something going bang if it's not maintaned to a T, and at least knowing that the turbos will most likely need to be replaced within the first year of ownership. So that's why I get pissed when some squid with NFI goes out and buys a GTR with no concept of just what an amazing car they are, their heritage, and as one of THE best cars to ever come out of Japan, and wants a swichable 3L kit/ choose any other mod that someone with a clue would at the very least question the feasability of. There are only so many GTR's in existance, and even fewer in Australia, and they deserve to go to worthy homes, and one day I would like to think that I'll be able to own one, that's if there are any left after so many of them being wrapped around poles or neglected to destruction, by people who buy them for all the wrong reasons. So Ali, if that doesn't sound like you, I apologise, and at least you were man enough to admit that you made yourself look like a dick, which I do respect. But please, look after your damn GTR, get to know it intimately as they are very special cars that need lots of attention and respect. and for gawds sake, think before you speak, haters thrive on stuff like you said to confirm their beliefs that skyline drivers are wankers with no clue. my apologies for the hijack.
  2. found this - www.takakaira.com/accessories/nightpager/nightpager.html Ali-turko, dont mean to offend, but people like you are the reason people think skyline drivers are wankers. what's real funny about this whole BOV/no BOV argument that repeats itself here is that the no BOV crew think it's cool to have the "pigeon" sound, which , correct me if I'm wrong, is just as attention grabbing as some of the bovs on the market, so before pointing the finger saying people that run and like the sound of BOV's calling them ricers etc, take a look at yourselves! Dont get me wrong, I hate those stupid "ultrasonic happy joy bus brake 3ssqvrt" Bov's as much as the next guy, but I run a greddy type s BOV that is not designed as such to whistle, but is just a by product of it's construction, and something which I do happen to like the sound of. It's not intrusive, and doesn't make people I'm passing think something is wrong with my car, it's just enough to know it's there. My car also came with a pod filter which means if I do the plumb back option, it ends up sounding like afore mentioned bus brake BOV, which I hate the sound of so dearly. I would actually like to quiet mine down a bit because I am very conscious of the volume of the sucking sound you get from the pod filter, but I'm not really sure if there is any option other then to revert back to a standard airbox. So, bnr, after all that, the easest was to get a bit more noise that i've seen (which i think is a bit silly and cheap looking, but none the less) is to drill a whole bunch of holes in your airbox on the dirty side of the air filter. you could also remove the resonating chamber from the airbox (the one that usually goes in to the inner guard - also kind of a cold air intake - it's designed to reduce sound emissions). Honestly, what's wrong with having a turbo and wanting it to sound more like a turbo?
  3. has anyone replaced the standard clutch fan with a thermofan? would there be any problem with doing this? I'm not quite sure what the advantage would be, but I imagine the clutch wears out after a while, so the fan may not be as effective as it could be. That and it would make the engine bay just a smidge neater.
  4. any chance you can post the different styles up in your gallery? are the kits 'glass or urethane?
  5. I'm sure if you found an owner nearby they'd be happy to be your driver for a modest fee. I'd feel flattered if someone asked me
  6. you got em cheap mate! i thought 3k for wheels and tyres was cheap when i got mine for my old car... I can vouch for them being a bloody hot looking mag!
  7. Hungry6 I would love to see your collection when I'm down in brissie next!
  8. Mx5's were designed as "the ulimite sports car" (or something) I feel that the japanese, when they want to build a sports car, look at the fundamentals. keep the weight down, good suspension geometry etc. Jap sports cars are usually designed as sports cars first, family car second. as I can interpret it anyway. with the current aussie crop (and the way it's always been since I can remember), it's the complete reverse. jap sports cars are usually watered down versions of an all out sports car (save the main design ie GTR as to gtst etc) Aussie sports cars are warmed up versions of all out family cars. I know that BMW didn't get their reputation for being "the ultimate family car" lol. and if you think beemers are crap, hire out a Z4 for a day! The focus of jap and aussie cars are at opposite ends of the spectrum. so you have to give credit to the Aussie cars when they can stick it with the big boys in a shootout. but I still know what I would prefer. Aussie build quality is still dubious, and although skylines are becoming more common, they're still far less of a "me too" car than commies and 'coons are. I tend to feel that jap cars are all together more samuri sword where as aussie cars are more... Conans sword. That can be taken both ways, and the vids of the falcon prove that - man that things got some f**king balls!!! but I still think a gtr would whip it's arse given some corners. "power is nothing without control" etc etc, and the jap sports cars were designed with chassis to handle it. That's my one eyed jap loving view anyway I still luuuurve v8 supercars and there really is no sould like a good v8... and I love v8 commy utes... in black... I would just never expect it to do what the skyline does with the same finesse... I'd prefer a slim jap over a pudgy aussie any day hey hungry - did i mention i'm incredibly envious!?!?!?!? yoooou bastage!!!
  9. FFS. dont like, judge the car purely on it's merits or anything. did you click on this thread thinking "gee this sounds alright, might just be my mod" ??? "one of the fastest street car ever built". so i guess it can be streeted somewhere, just not here. personally I think it's f**king awesome... although I did expect a bit more power, considering they make 1000hp from GTR engines... I can imagine it would be slightly torquey tho! how sexy is that flat black TT behind the skyline in one of the photos...
  10. yes. but if you're not hard under boost or anything, it's not really going to cause damage. a risk you may run tho is sucking any shit in the bottom of the tank into the fuel lines, and clogging the fuel filter. rare, but possible. I'm guessing you weren't running the tank as empty as you thought you were...
  11. thank god the wanker is gone... didn't know of him but here's to hoping he never buys a skyline again. I have to agree with the person that said people like him are the reason some people think skyline drivers are wankers. myself included! but i guess that's like any good car, some buy them for the right reasons, others for the wrong reasons...
  12. *Free bump* I doubt that the rims actually "look" that big fitted... that's some serious rear wheel steer goin on
  13. yeah that was the impression i was under... any way to renew the fluid in the sealed unit? anyone know who in brissie sells redline off the shelf?
  14. what was their prob with the zorst? just the usual too loud crap? so what ur saying is if you get it engineered you can just flash the slip/plate and all is apples?
  15. in qld. I thought if it had a filter on it they were ok... might at least serve to throw them off
  16. engine gasses,,, wankers. I guess I'll just have to take my chances. I've seen plenty of fooly sik cars running around with bus-brake BOVs so if i get picked up on it somethin aint right... cheers guys.
  17. what the title says. does anyone know where I can find the related legislation? so I can stuff it up any cops noses if they hassel me about it, if it is legal anyway? tried to search but it wont recognise anything 4 letters or under, so dont burn me for starting another BOV thread, lol thanks
  18. Na, auto, 93... I reckon you're better off going for one of the last '32s in a manual gtst for that price
  19. I had an idiot on a 4 way unsigned intersection that didn't have a clue, thought she was meant to give way to me (she was on my right, I on her left) had my right indicator on and she stops in the MIDDLE of the intersection like I was going straight ahead, even tho I still wouldn't have been able to get past her. idiot.
  20. It really is bullshit the way they go on, I mean really, you've forked the money out for it, the least the government should allow you to do is salvage what you can. just another case of them "protecting the local car industry". yeah right. more like protecting their party funding. wankers. who do they represent again? the public? oh sorry, forgot. to ask a stupid question, what exactly am i looking for on that GTR? can someone do like a pic with arrows or something? i mean i see the rust, but it doesn't look that bad to me. wouldn't set alarm bells ringing anyway. I gotta agree tho there are plenty of cars driving around in australia that have have rear ends and shit welded back on. alot worse than some of the bingles that these cars have seen!
  21. So tomma what were the name's of each oil. just to be a pain in the arse so i dont get mixed up...
  22. well i'm half way through.... found a quick easy way to lose 10kg off the car if you're lookiong for weight reduction tho! you can run the bumper without the metal insert perfectly fine, save that the number plate lights attach to it. basically all it is is a shock absorber for the chassis - the skin is in no way attached to it. you'd be f&*ked in a rear ender without it... Here's to praying it turns up, and fits without a hitch (pardon the pun, man i'm funny). Other wise I have to ride 600k's to bris on saturday! not my idea of fun...
  23. good stuff might have to get me some next pay! I find 45 degrees in 2nd is much more fun anyway
  24. how do i change my donk? mine's got a "t" on it any more word on the user title?
