  1. mine has the same thing happening! but i think the tyres are 15000k's old or so, and it's only just through the tread... hopefully i can get away with an alignment... have to see i guess
  2. WTF!?!!? why did he even ask for ID? if it didn't matter to him anyway? I'd keep your car locked up tight for a bit... admittedly, the info your dad gave wouldn't be of too much help to would be theives... would it? I thought they would have taken down what time you were home etc....
  3. 1hp is pretty much 3/4 of a kw so 300hp x .75 = 225hp. correct to 1%. if you're as crap at math as i am, using 3/4 makes it easy, and it's more accurate than most dynos. you can pretty mich say that rear wheel hp is approximately kw at the flywheel. It follows that you lose about 25% through the drive train. I think ps is .76? they use ps cause its a slightly higher number, and looks prettier on paper. I think there's something to do with it being a metric value too, but i'm sure that's not important
  4. amen to plastic bars! What could you pick up an OEM gtr bar for? I'm sure there's someone here that can tell us for sure whether it would fit or not... there might be enough give to get away with it. how about OEM 400r bar :bananaman :hearts: :headbang: We can but dream
  5. I had a look under the car this morning, to find to my delight that the rear left tyre is bald on the inside edge :whatsthat What seems wierd to me is that it is the only one - usually it's both front, both back, etc. Is this a tell tale sign of something more sinister? or should I get back in my skin and just get a wheel alignment? Another $500 bucks :chairshot
  6. Does anyone have a list of the roadworthy requirements in QLD/ know where to get it (ie website, QT etc)? I live in the sticks and want to have as many of my bases covered before I head 200k's to the nearest decent roadworthy agent. and have the least defectability possible!
  7. Dude!!! I need that phone number!!! lol does he even want need to see the car? I only have a week and a half left before I have to go through more crap to get my car registered (it's from NSW).
  8. series 2 - locks about 5 seconds after the ignition turns on! i'm used to it... it unlocks when you turn the motor off, do the series 1 do that too?
  9. and iwas gonna say it was a flare, as a joke....lol!
  10. mines ok :Pimp2: touch wood!!!
  11. If it sounds like boiling water, not clicking, I'd say it's something to do with the heater element, or aircon possibly? have you replaced the coolant lately? or you may have a leak in your a/c system....
  12. Be sure to let us know when they buy you a bmw.
  13. Just dont turn the climate control on when you're selling it. sorted I only just bought my skyline and have the exact same thing going on. Or just be straight up and tell em it's a common prob. I have this and my heater not working - turns out that's a common problem too!
  14. cool, thanks for that
  15. I thought I'd try this again here... from the "not another new guy!" thread Hey all, I've been lingering around here for a little while, top site you have here! I've just driven back 12hrs from bathurst (yep!) in my shiny new(for me anyways) white '96 gtst! Let me tell ya, I've wanted one of these for about 10 years, and after finally getting one, I'm in no way disappointed! I guess i had a bit of luck, as it rained nearly all the way home, which allowed me to get the "feel" of the dual stage boost Dayuuum!!! Anyhoo, being a newbie and all, I have a few questions about a few little glitches. Please feel free to direct me to any other threads that address my questions! Glitch #1 This may or may not be related to #1... The Windscreen vents dont work, and when you try and divert to them, all you get is a clicking sound form the dash, ala plastic cog not being able to drive the air diverter to it's position. Am i close? any fixes? Glitch #2, this thing is toooooo loowwwwww at the front. On the last service sheet, it says "adjusted suspension", however to me, the suspension aint adjustable... It's not coil over, there's no adjusting rings, it basically looks like stock that may or may not have had inserts put in. Check out the photo of the strut top, and let me know if it's adjustable or not! If it's not I'll have to get different springs, which is just great, cause I dont have a clue of the rate of these. All i know is they are, firm, low, and blue (the springs, that is). Thanks for any help!!! :Pimp2:
  16. will do thanks mate!
  17. Is there some way just to flush it? mine isn't leaking (that i know of), would it be worth it just to attempt to flush through, even just to make sure I'm not turning a small job into a huge job? if you could still get a small amount of liquid through, you could put weak hydrochloric through it (or radiator flush or something) to break down the rust. anyone cut the old one up to see just how clogged up it was?
  18. So i know the size to get when I do my oil change.
  19. Dot 4 and Dot 5 are not the same!!!! dot 4 is glycol based, dot 5 is synthetic! If you put dot 5 in a dot 4 system, unless it specifically says on the bottle that it is compatible with dot 4, you will have to replace every rubber component in your brake system, ie seals, hoses, etc, as dot 5 will react with the dot 4 absorbed in the rubber. Go the safe way, replace like with like!
  20. yeah they did. I really wanted one but this car was too good to worry about not having a sunroof... I sooo wish I had one tho, I love em! you can get top quality aftermarket ones for about 2g....
  21. The Auto's seem to fetch alot less than the manuals...
  22. Cheers guys, yeah i love the look of it, but if you saw the roads where i live... that and I have to do a pretty complex maneuvre(sp?) just to get into the servo here without scraping! I think i can get away with an inch or 2 without losing the look of it. I kinda have to do, it, cause it wont get a roadworthy otherwise yeah from the underside it just looks standard. no height rings, no nothin...
  23. From the tutorials/diy/faq section http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=17349

Anyhoo, being a newbie and all, I have a few questions about a few little glitches. Please feel free to direct me to any other threads that address my questions! Glitch #1 - The heater no workie I dont know whether the heater element is electric or just normal (ie off the cooling system), but I have checked all the fuses, they are all fine(it would be handy if I could read japanese...), the Climate Control works fine, as does the aircon, so I'm thinking that it's just the heater element not working, saving that i'm stumped. Has anyone else has this problem and is there a fix for it? Glitch #2 This may or may not be related to #1... The Windscreen vents dont work, and when you try and divert to them, all you get is a clicking sound form the dash, ala plastic cog not being able to drive the air diverter to it's position. Here are a few photos of the new baby at Mount Panorama for you to look at while you ponder my questions. Thanks for any help!!! :Pimp2:
