  1. did my first trip recently between the two, 10hours with a second driver, left sydney at 2am after chinese new years so took years to leave the city... if travelling at night be careful with fuel stops
  2. went top side in, too much oil under but the exciting news is it looks like its coming from everywhere, almost an engine out job! great news is my car has been raced before, the lockwire on some components is evident too this. thanks to the useless roadworthy dicks who said my car looked good and my mechanic who assured me it was probably just driven hard on the road
  3. isnt this pointless as you end up spraying over your marks anyway?
  4. im thinking of buying some wheel ramps, im really unimpressed with the idea of going under though, i already had a blast getting the sump drain bolt out
  5. it isnt normal to do filter and cooler work from the underside is it on a gtr?
  6. i have claustrophobia so have problems going under the car, i am deffinate it is the oil cooler and filter assembly i just need to get at it from the top side down, the plenum is just a pain too get too BAMR33 - i have already checked hoses, gaskets etc. i know where the problem is, getting too it is the problem thanks
  7. coil packs + tape is a great idea to help cut down a possibility, another idea is the O2 sensor(s) could be kaput and making the car run too rich and fowl plugs?
  8. fill up the tank with a descent amount of fuel, run the fuel pump in reverse by disconnecting the plug and running the wires to the opposite terminals, only do this for a couple seconds return to normal sounds like the filter in your fuel pump has picked up crap, and im guessing there isnt much in the tank right now anyway
  9. Hi guys, trying to diagnose litres of oil that has poured out of the drivers side of the engine under the plenum and im having troubles removing it. I have removed all the injectors, bolts to the block, fuel rails, and hoses at the rear of the plenum, but having no luck getting the AAC off. have photo attached got one of the bolts off, but is there and easier way? i can wiggle the plenum assembly around off the block, but cannot remove it as it wont come out far, can only assume its just the AAC still attached causing this. Prior to all the belts coming off the car was making a weird whiring noise, i got the power steer unit overhauled, and have just inspected the belt which seamed in great shape for 90,000kms, and the idlers and pulleys seamed healthy too i did notice the pulley on the aircon unit has a little bit of play in it unlike all the other pulleys, when spun freely it makes a grinding noise, how hard is it going to be to fix this? and will i need to dump the gas? thanks for the help guys, once this is sorted, hicas and the massive ammount of grease i found under the front left steering rack i can maybe get the car i purchased from a dealer interstate on the road!
  10. maybe this is two problems, but linked to the speed sensor in the dash? my hicas was fine when the dash fuse blew, worked fine and powersteering didnt go heavy, now it has the dash running again the same old problem is occuring
  11. how did you go mate? did the power steering become heavy right away, or come on after driving a couple mins
  12. consult that bad boy, or try swap ecu with a friends?
  13. consult cable? showed one of mine was reading 100 all the time
  14. Vehicle: R32 GTR Problem: After a minute or two the steering becomes heavy, soon followed by the HICAS light illuminating on the dash cluster. My Solution: HICAS ECU is kaput! This can be located in the boot on the drivers side under the parcel shelf. How to test yours: Under the parcel shelf three 10mm head bolts hold in the ECU, undo these then unclip the ECU, replace with one from a car with working HICAS. For my test I used the HICAS ECU from a R32 GTSt, worked excellently, only took 5 mins to d the swap and back, and probably about 10 minutes driving it. Hopefully this will make it easier to test the ECU before you buy and fit a lock bar and rip out all the HICAS system.

  16. Hi guys, I need a HICAS ECU for my R32 GTR, but a GTSt one will do the job fine (i have tested this) Thanks David
  17. my 89 gtr drives fine for a couple mins, then the steering goes heavy, then the hicas light comes on further down the road, i had a feeling this is too do with the ecu so im borrowing the ecu from a GTSt today to see if it remedies the problem, if it does i will try write up a 'how to stop a damaged ecu guide' as the ecu physically looks fine inside, other than that i may have to remove the hicas, something i dont really want too do
  18. that avatar makes me feel ill every time i see it
  19. ah i think i was only searching recently sorry guys
  20. im just sick of the searches being filled with crap like the whoring threads. im even having troubles finding the hicas solutions, on the problems other people have had
  21. is this a good upgrade choice? is it easy to do? we have a R33 turbo on the table at home, what would i have to modify to fit onto the R32?
  22. Awesome guy! Knows a lot and very friendly!!!
