  1. Forgive me, but i don't see your delema? Your trying to stay under the power/wieght ratio for legallity. GTR and R33 to powerful - fair enough but why are you going to spend all that money, time and effort on a slugg? As far as I see it, You have two options 1. buy a shitter and save your money for a weapon when your P's expires. (added bonus is, most people learn heaps about maintaining a car very quickly when you own a shitter because if you don't maintain it. . . . it dies). 2. Take your skyline blinkers off and find a car that has the attributes you like and is also close to mark you wish to reach so with minor mods it will be there! Alternatively if you already have the GTS-4 then invest time not money into keeping it neat to retain what ever resale value it has. Which to be honest is 5/8ths of f**k all (Ishould know, I've got one! )
  2. Hi-cas issues were probably already there and from memory you have to be careful to specify the year/make of your car because I remember something about a different boss between earlyR32 and late or GTS-T and GTR!
  3. I've driven a bus around the arc de triomphe and as you said there are no lanes and seemingly no rules but very rarely is there an accident apparently! The few people I spoke to said it's because you only ever attempt it if your confident in your driving.
  4. jebus! An XR6 for a first car, doing it tough Are your perants adopting? I went into mechanics and the first car I purchased was a bright yellow 1982 carona for a carton of vb which a friend had left in my fridge! This thing was mint and I loved it! Many much more expensive and quick cars followed but my fondest memories still sit with that yellow carona. The point to this waffle is, I appreciated that car so much because I achieved the purchase and maintainence (everyday) on my own and it had a great story behind it. That car has passed through 4 of my friends hands and never missed a beat even after 350,000kms It all depends on your values I guess but I think no matter how rich you are, if you earn what you get it's that much sweeter! EDIT: must clarify that by achieving the purchase, I had got a vehicle for effectively left over beer and by sacrificing then i got much better cars along the way and at 23 now own 90% of my house, have an R32 and an R1 on a crap wage. Not show ponying but as a father started this thread - If you give your child the building blocks they might just build a castle
  5. Call it "tinkerbell" cause it's so purdy and then shock people with an RB30DET hidden under the svelt exterior! Awsome job!
  6. Don't quote me on it as it was a while ago now but a bosch pump with the same flow of 165L/h was a XXX XXXXXXXXXX915 and the one i got was a XXX XXXXXXXXXX985 If you can get hold of a bosch catalogue tomorrow, it's all in there
  7. I haven't had any personal experience with lightened flywheels but by all accounts on the many other treads on this subject it seems to have made a sizable difference to the cars acceleration with the draw backs of having to rev the motor more on take off and rev drop occuring much quicker between gear shifts. But the general concensous was a great mod once you'd altered your driving style to suite! Do a search remembering to change the "last 30 days setting" and you'll find several threads Hope that helps
  8. Hey mate, I installed a bosch pump into my R32 GTS-T and never looked back! The problem with the fuel pumps in the gts-t's is they don't actually just stop so you need a new one, oh no, they like to play games - cutting out intermitantly, running at a slower speed and occasionally they'll only be capable of one of the 2 stages expected of it! So if you're wanting to start getting more performance then don't skimp on this item and go the bosch straight up. Cost me $280 self installed and there's a DIY in the tutorials section From memory, the standard pump was rated at 165L/h and the pump I selected was rated at 185ishL/h My model had an internal built in check valve which is also important The 040's and 044's that are whored everywhere are rated at 240L/h or so. Huge over kill unless you have a powerful GTR. No check valve so you have to set it up externally and are an open base feed type which shouldn't be used in a skyline tank! Also don't look at that "capable of 600HP" crap either that walbro love to bandy round. The pumps job is to supply an adequate amount of fuel to the motor. So L/h is where it's at! Work shops will always want to sell you the easy option because it makes them the most amount of money for piss all time. Research, get what you're happy with and tell them what you want them to do. Hope that helps somewhat Waits for rebutle
  9. The whole line of arguement in his defence is that he gunned it UP TO 60km/h when his post said XXXkms/h. Yes, I can count and thats three figures without any mention of the speed limit! Speaks volumes that he hasn't reposted.
  10. I'll second that too! And Jason. . . . .Noooooooooooooooo! :laughing-smiley-014:
  11. I Just happen to have a genuine standard R32 GTR gearstick in great condition, so if your interested, post your intention! $5 is all i paid and $5 is all you'll pay. BTW are you sure it's an after market box because it could just be the short shifter making it stiff!
  12. 1st vote for removing this thread please!
  13. Or it could be roll over noise with in the gearbox! Slight chattering of the gears with the clituch engaged in neutral. You can't diagnose these things on the net unfortunately but there's some food for thought
  14. Top answer Liz! I've asked wether people found the car to have better drivability before or after a lock bar without anyone actually giving me a definite answer. I Know that 4WS can significantly reduce a lap time if it works correctly but I'm starting to get the shits with wondering when it will go haywire and fighting it when it does! So Agreed, Hicas will become aquanted with the bin! BTW, What differences did you notice after removing? it because when it works, I can really feel it. Which is why I was reluctant to get rid of it if it was only a set up issue.
  15. Good to see another intelligant comment from the brains trust! Daaahhhh, Loser! I'm sorry if the "OPEN" forum for people to express their "OPINIONS" got a little mature for you! "Fully sick effort mate, good to see ya got ya licence back. stupid police". Suppose that's what you'd rather hear. I would have thought that some one with a online name "paladin" would have stood up for a more noble cause!
  16. Mate, like a lot of people i'm sure, i've done more stupid things than i'd like to admit! And I certainly enjoy the odd spirited drive and lets face it thats why we bouhgt the car we did. I Honestly wasn't trying to be an arse hole and tell you off (me of all people, huh!). My experience is an extreme one but not uncommon and even with just you driving, you never know whos kid could run out or more importantly to you, the greater skyline community and certainly anyone who cares about you, the damage you could do to your self. so have your fun but maybe within a reasonable range or even better go do some track days. BTW. I've got an R32 as well and your car looks sweet.
  17. I vote for a starlet gt turbo = most fun car for the street that hoots
  18. I don't know you personally but maybe they stopped hanging around you because you obviously had a brain fade and was stupid enough to do effectively twice the legal speed limit. I had a friend in high school who lost his licence at much the same speed, Lost contact with him but found out two years later that he got his licence back and was speeding to work, lost control, killed his girl friend and made him the proud owner of a new set of wheels = a wheelchair Not trying to be an arsehole but i hope for you sake you learnt your lesson
  19. Plug it in to have your servo-tronic assistance (steering light at low speeds and gets heavier as speed increases) and take the bulb out of the cluster.
  20. I've got an R32 and i moulded mine inside the ashtray so with the lid shut, "What turbo timer?". Flip it open and there it is.
  21. Is that a hole near the front?
  22. Just a computer! no sensors so yes put it where ever you like.. . . . In the bin preferably
  23. All the splines looked the same to me and I didn't have instructions but I do always check for things like that! May be it would apply to the other varient we didn't have.
  24. I only asked because I was reading a thread and Sydney Kid said that it was crucial to center the hicas before a wheel alignment so I thought i'd pose the question but he's a busy man and sick to death of hicas questions. So i'll live with not knowing Cheers for you posts
  25. Awsome thread that will get used very often! The only thing i would add is the replacement of the pulley bearing as I had done this a long time ago due to not wanting to lose my R12 and both my friend and I have to now do it again due to our bearing becoming noisey. For the sake of a $ or 2 it would be well worth the insurance!
