  1. Hey everyone. Last night, my car got sideswiped, bastard drove off. Thing is, he left bits of his light assembly all over the place. I managed to put the pieces together in a rather amateur NCIS manner, and on the bottom, it shows NISSAN japan ICHIKOH 3429 L There was also bits of a headlight protector there. I wanted to know if anyone has a hook up with Nissan, or can tell me the model that this part came from. Our street is a pretty quiet one, and only local traffic goes through, so it might help find the arsehole who did it. The only lucky thing is that they swerved away from my Skyline, into the Swift that the missus drives. If the line was hit, I'd be too livid to type this, and probably in a violent rage, or thoroughly drunk. Anyone who wants to be a smartarse about owning a swift, consider this: If we didn't have that, the missus would have to drive the skyline. Her understanding of the manual gearbox seems to be limited to mule kicking the clutch, and throwing the gearshifter like a softball pitcher's fastball. It's little, auto and usually cheap to run. We have full insurance though, but the $600 excess sucks, as we're trying to save for a wedding. anyhow, any help would be appreciated. thanks
  2. It looked like Hamilton cooked it though. I don't think he could've stopped safely in time. He'd have needed a handbrake to make the corner at that speed with cold tyres. It's funny though, for the last three races, Hamilton has been saying that the car's inferior, that he got everything out of it he could, yet in all those races, Heiki kicked his arse. So by Hamiltons logic, he got everything he could out of the car, Heiki beat him in the same car, therefore Heiki is the superior driver? Not true of course, but it's about time Lewis stopped blaming the car when things are bad, and writing books about how great he is when they are good. He did qualify and start well though, I'll give him that. And regarding the drive through: Over-reactions aside, Reubens was in webber's blind spot. His mirrors don't cover someone on your 45, he moved sharply, as many do on the start, that Reubens was there was unlucky for both of them. Was a penalty legal? Yes. All contact can be penalised. Yet in similiar incidents, or even worse incidents, the FIA has done nothing. Personally, I'd prefer that the drivers are allowed to race, as long as no one is unfairly hampered by racing contact. Reubens was fine, and moved ahead of Mark, so he was in no way disadvantaged. No shredded carbon fibre, just a bit of a tap, in my opinion. If he had of leaned right into reubens and bumped him onto the dirt, well that's a penalty or a black flag any day of the week. If they are consistent and penalise that sort of thing every race, then fair cop. Otherwise it's going to become a farce. Almost makes me hope the breakaway will also break away from FIA.
  3. Yeah, unlucky to get a penalty. Reubens is in his blind spot, with plenty of track to move over. The person behind can see the person in front so it's normally up to them to allow for that car, as F1 mirrors are little more than ornamentation. Also, Webber LOST the position from the move. It's like cutting a corner and losing a position because of it, it's pretty much it's own penalty. So, yeah, they could have penalised it, or considered it a racing incident where Mark already served a penalty by dropping a place. When Lewis came through, Webber had no where to go, and did well to only just clip him. In the past, it would have been lewis who zoomed off unscathed, while webbers nose cone disintegrated, filling up his air vents and puncturing three tyres. He might have used ll his luck up there. Fortunately, it's not another "If only" for Mark. After 8 years driving in cars with major issues he's done it. No first gear, a helmet full of vomit, cars doing back flips, cars hitting him while behind a safety car, down force issues..... all can be put behind him now as he looks for F1 win number 2, 3 or 4 this season.
  4. Love Webbers reaction over the radio "<holler, scream, whoop, yell>.YES!... FKN BEAUTY... <Holler, cough, voice catches in throat>" Well deserved, validation for years of bad luck. He'll be there again before the year is out. Oh, and boss, if you read this, I won't be in tomorrow. Going to the casino with the other lads who watched the GP at my place. Then probably to a strip club. I'll dedicate the first lap dance to Webber!
  5. Uhm, why would you say that the three major networks wouldn't work? My voda N82 works fine. The only problem might be tel$tra's phones, as they run off the 850mHz band for NextG, rather than 1900 or 2100 that everyone else in the world uses. What your saying was right, about five years ago. Newer 3g phones should have no problems at all, provided you have international roaming on. Most countries though, it'd be better to just get a new sim.
  6. is that a boot lid the doors are resting on? May be interested in that.
  7. Can I get a price for the water pump and the boot lid? thanks
  8. Torque gauge = GTS-4. Unless they did a cluster swap at some stage, and the gauge is disconnected. Still the only reason to do this would be to rip you off with lower KM's, or because of major accident damage. With a gts-4, you'll struggle to beat a gts-t off the line (unless it's wet) but you'll stick in corners like nobodies business (provided you spend the $ on tyres. Number 1 priority)
  9. Went to Buller last year and they had massive snowfall. Falls this year, when are you going? Like they have all said, get an apartment if possible, makes it easier if numbers are not firm too. Considering Buller is already running lifts, should be a bumper season.
  10. Good point Kinks, though Brawn was out qualified by the RBR's and Alonso as well, and that was in the dry. Bahrain will sort things out. The Red Bulls might have troubles with the heat. Hope not though. I really like Vettel at the moment. He's looking great, but I admit I was kind of hoping for a little spin in the last few laps to get Webber his maiden win.
  11. Now, Hamilton can drive, I'll give him that, but he's only been a pro for a little while now. When he started, they called him "The next Senna". When he overtook someone last year, they called it a "Senna-esqe" move. Now with the "lie-gate" He's been called a "fierce competitor" who did what he could to win. Senna WAS extremely competitive, also he was a bit of a prick, but he WAS honest. After crashing out with Prost, he came out and said he did it intentionally, giving the excuse of being put on the dirty side of the track. Crappy or not, he spoke his mind. He didn't make crap up only to recant later and blame someone else when caught out. I'll admit I don't watch every second of Hamilton's racing, but I can't remember him passing anyone in the wet, on the same tyres, but Senna did that all the time, many times multiple passes in a single lap. True, the cars were much more varied, and some would say the MP4/4 and subsequent models were very dominant, but any more so than the MP4/22 ? Hamilton had a great season in a great car. Senna had many great seasons in average and excellent cars. Lewis may grow and become a great driver, though personally he wouldn't make my top ten at the moment, but he's still five solid years of results away from being fit to change Senna's tyres in my book. Opinions?
  12. Just to be straight..... Those ARE decals right? Not the results of return fire from a gang land drive-by.
  13. OK, so one of my group couldn't get time off, and the replacement fell through. SO, I've got an extra ticket. It's a platinum ticket for a gate 28 row B seat it's the second elevation, left side, nearly to the corner, second row. My mate and I'll be in seats . I'm not after scalpers rates, the ticket cost $129 (with booking fees) so that's all I would like. It's only one ticket, to the sold out show, so if you're keen, call me on 0404446174. I'll be flying into Sydney at about 2pm, and going to the venue at 5:30 to see the showroom cars, so if my phone is off, leave a message and I'll get back to you. -Josh
  14. Gah, I think I'm an idiot. I replaced the fuel pump aand the fuel filter in one go, so a lot of air got in the fuel lines. I just took the fuel line off the engine. No fuel spilled out. I then let the pump prime itself on ACC, and reconnected the fuel line, then started it up. After an initial burble it seems to have come good. A couple zips up and down the road look promising. Seems the problem was initially a fuel pump issue, but all the air in the lines stuffed me up even after fixing. A few quick laps around the block, including a steep hill climb and idling for 20 mins, and it hasn't skipped a beat. Should have thought of the obvious first. Thanks for the help though guys.
  15. 1. Ayrton Senna. Watching him race was as exciting as all hell. Never gave up. RIP. 2. R32s racing in Australia. 3. Watching Jordan play and having to do a (fuzzy) rewind and slow-mo it just to understand what happened, then spending days wondering how the hell he did it. 4. Cheap housing. 5. North Melbourne had a footy team that could win.
  16. OK, had a look around the tank and no debris to be found. The fuel pump primes ok, so it's wired up right (Bosch 040 in tank) and the idle is OK, but revving above 2.5K and it bounces for a while (like a rev limiter) then power dies off. I disconnected the battery and pushed the brakes to reset the ECU, and it's still doing the same. Figured it could be air in the fuel lines, but it should have primed itself by now surely. (idled for about 15 min, drove a bit for about 5 min). It does smell rich though. I know it'll need a tune, but is that all? Could anything else be messing me up?
  17. Quick query: Heatshrink. will it react with petrol. I only ask as I soldered the connectors on to the wire, but it looked messy, so I used heatshrink around it, then on the terminals too (figure that avoiding a spark in the tank isn't a bad idea) Anyone know if it'll perish or even worse, heat up? I did a quick test with some fuel and a strip of heatshrink, and nothing seemed to happen, but just thought to ask.

N96: over rated and over priced (about $1300 RRP) Luna: 2g phone with steel casing, 2mp camera, and radio. I would not pay over $300 fr this as it's old tech. E66: better option than the luna. 3g, aluminium casing slider with push email, RRP is about $650 unlocked or free on plans about $60 and above. It's a keypad version of the E71 really, with the screen flipped 90 degrees. N85: a slimmer, newer version of the N96 with less memory (but expandable to 16gb) no dvb-h (not supported in Au anyway) but does include an FM transmitter (liten to music or take calls through car stereo via FM) Still has GPS, Bluetooth and push email, but in a much less chunky package plus the screen is an organic LED, and much better to view than the N96. Plus it's only about $1k RRP, and available on plans unlocked. I work for a phone company, so if you want more info, feel free to message me. for all the stats, check out gsmarena.com though don't pay attention to the battery life figures, they're full of crap. Luck
  19. i got one for my R32 through nengun.com, but it's direct from Japan, so you'll need to sort out a courier from the nearest port. Cheap though. Don't know if they carry RX-8 stuff, but you can ask them and they'd probably be able to source it.
  20. I know this may be a dumb question, but does the GTR boot lid fit the GTS-4/ GTS-T boot? The guards don't seem to widen until below the boot line, so I gotta ask. My boot is looking rusty (literally) so it may be time to swap it out.
  21. True, when I replaced the fuel pump I didn't really look around the tank. I'll have a crack at that then and see if there is anything floating about, though if I find out that someone put a plastic bag in my tank, I'm gonna be pissed.
  22. Yes, I have searched (SAU, google, justskylines, even ns.com) OK, so, my R32 GTS-4 has a bit of an issue. After driving to work for half an hour, with the tank at 3/4 full, the engine loses all power, then comes on only in burps, I pump the gas a couple of times, but this has no effect whatsoever (not even a bunny hop, it's as if the gas isn't connected) it clears up for a while, then ten minutes later, it happens again. I limp it in to work. On the way home though, same problem occurs, still after about 30 mins of driving. This time, the engine cuts out (thankfully infront of a maccas on warrigal rd, and I coast into the car park) I get a tow back to my place. now, I've had a chat to a few people, and have heard it could be the following: Fuel filter: (now replaced. No improvement) Fuel pump: (ditto) O2 sensor: (I thought that would make it run rich or lean though, so pumping the gas would have SOMe effect on the revs) Timing belt: (I thought having it that badly off would have bent a valve or something by now.) Spark plugs: (Not really sure how this opinion came about. I think it's pretty unlikely that all 6 would fail at once, but hey, changed them anyway) Coil packs: (ditto) Anyone have any solid ideas? I've got a timing belt ready to go on, but I don't have the time to do it right now if I don't need to. Thanks
  23. PS3 graphics are far superior if you have a decent LCD/ Plasma. My 46" bravia shows a definite difference when the 360 is plugged in compared to the PS3. I played GTA on both, and the textures, the panning and the shadows were all much more detailed on the PS3. Games wise, most decent games are dual released. Exceptions being Halo and MGS 4, GT5 and Forza. For my money, they deciding factor was blu-ray. Anyone who says they cannot see the difference between blu-ray and regular DVD is either blind from watching too much downloaded porn or using RCA plugs on a CRT television. HDMI connection, in 1080p with blu-ray is noticably better. Watching movies like Transformers, Underworld, Iron man or even Speed Racer show this abundantly. And you haven't seen the movie "300" until you've seen it in high def. Second only to seeing it at IMAX. For me, the 360 controller is a little cumbersome, but then again, I only noticed that after picking up the PS3 controller. Region free gaming is good too. PS3 games from the US, Hong Kong, UK, whatever, all just slot straight in, though be aware that the online content is often only for the AU games. Oh, and no matter what you decide to get, the must have games are: Elder scrolls: Oblivion. (This may result in many hours lost in front of a screen though) Grid (best drift Sim I've played so far) Call Of Duty 4 (possibly 5 too, haven't added that yet) Games to get to prove to the missus that she can play too: (important! if you want to have sex ever again, get a karaoke game, or a cutesy game, like "Little big world" sure, it might cost you a bit of game time, but I'm sure you'll agree the occasional BJ off-sets this completely To avoid: Quantum of solace: It's COD4 on rails with less weapons, more predictability and repetitive motion. Ebay it if you must, but don't spend more than $50 Need for Speed series (except Most wanted, or Underground 2. Undercover is pending review, though not hopeful.) Juiced 2. Crap. The Force Unleashed: Lucas arts cashing in. A predictable, banal RPG/ FPS. It hurts that such a great sci-fi is made into cheap shit like this.
  24. I actually had a chat to a lawyer friend and he said the mechanic was liable. He said something about it being a "bail-let" or "Bailent" or some other legal term. It boils down to the fact that they took possession of the item, whilst doing services you were paying for. They were hired to do a service, and return the car in the same condition as it was when you deposited it (with whatever work done as you'd expect) How the damage happened is largely irrelevant, it could be that when moving the car, they hit a pole, or that they had a portion of the roof collapse, it's all the same, or, as in this case, someone busted into it. seek proper legal advice if they do not come to the party. I expect that they'd not want to go to court, as damages to the car is covered by insurance, your court costs (which you can recover in your suit) are not covered by most insurances. Be cool though, don't go in expecting a pay day. Have a value on items to be replaced, and have that as your goal.
