Rb25de (supercharged) Project
XRATED replied to r33_racer's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Hey Michael, Accusumps are definatly the go... I don't know why more people dont run them. Especially with rb oil pump issues. Are you going to play with VCT timing? Do you have a mock up pic or 2? mmmm... twin charged. H ha ha h. -

Fitting Madness - Dash10/12 Unf/m20 ....
XRATED replied to paulR32gtr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
My Greddy Oil filter relocation and cooler runs -10 lines. You will find that -12 fittings will be ALOT more expensive than -10. Also, you really don't need that much flow potential... -12 is quiet a large fitting. I'd look at a greddy oil filter plate with the thermostat if it's a street car. Hope it helps, Justin -

Are you keeping the VCT? -
There's a whole thread on this... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Pl...l&hl=vi+pec Plus after talking to a few industry guys, I believe the r&d and hardware that has been put into this product justifies the cost... Plus it's a plug-in. Alot of ecu choice ends up being influenced by your tuners prefrence. Just wondering what Kutzie thought of it. Cheers Justin

What ever way you go, there are going to be other things to replace while you have the box apart: Bearings Selector forks- or upgraded forks? Syncro parts Shifter mechanism? Upgraded input shaft? The cheapest box to put together in a dog box... Everyday day driving is fine with a dog box, as long as you can drive it properly, it's just the service requirments- dog rings every 2k. Personally I would lean towards a PPG gearset... local product. The service guys are helpfull too.

Decat Dyno Results - With Or Without Cat? Power Gains?
XRATED replied to GTR Grey Ghost's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That's pretty crazy results... especially if they were using a "high flow" cat... Hey Tony, I'm an Aussie working on a super yacht thats docked in Ft Lauderdale Florida... There is actually a mopar club event at Moroso motorsport park this weekend... A buddy of mine here with a big hp 33GTR is going. Show some of the old drag racers how versitile a GTR can be. Cheers Justin -
Cheers mate... J.

We're just about to put an OS 5 gear set to the test... with a 860bhp 33GTR and a full day of abuse- read dragracing/gymkana style of events. I'll let you know how it goes. Personally I went with PPG helical cut dog box... The missus loved driving it down to the shops for milk, then for bread, then for dinner... you get the picture! GL Justin

Thanks marko. Yeah, I'm really trying to stick with cast manifolds. I'd hate to have to change manifolds after a few thousand km's because one cracked... unfun job. I've run 400rwkw with stock-stock manifolds in the past... un ported, honed or coated. I seem to ask Paulie alot of qn's because he's run good numbers with GT-RS's... I'll be running GT-RS's on the new stroker motor. Anywho... thanks for the reply. Cheers Justin

Decat Dyno Results - With Or Without Cat? Power Gains?
XRATED replied to GTR Grey Ghost's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
To answer your enquiry... I doubt you would see a 25rwkw gain by just removing a stock GTR cat on a simple set up. GTR cat's arn't that bad. There are gains to be had though, especially if it's the restriction in a higher flowing exhaust. I'm planning on running 2 high performance cats for my new set up. Aiming for 500 rwkw. PS I'm a (not so) younger fella who dabbles with GTR's and has a healthy appreciation for mopar muscle.... They're everywhere here in florida!!! -
Yo dirty man, do you think it's worth the extra money for a set of aftermarket low mount manifolds- compared to a set of honed and ported N1 manifolds? I'd like to keep the N1's (I have them all done allready) but if there are reasonable gains to be had I'll ditch them... I don't want the ex-mani's to be the restriction. I know you were running aftermarket manifolds with the GT-RS's. 2.8, head, cams, greddy plenum and 50mm tb's, GT-RS's.... Cheers Justin There needs to be a 2.8 section...

You'd be stoopid not to use a metal intake gasket set on a GTR. Any of the big name brands have good gaskets... HKS, Greddy Tomei etc.

Lewis’s R34 Fourdoor Build Thread
XRATED replied to Volk34's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Is that printed cf pattern on the trim pieces? It looks way to neat to be an overlay. Who did the trim work? Your 4 door is comming along quite well. J. -
For the ultimate stealth cooling... just install some 1000cc methanol injectors and pump straight methanol into it ha ha ha.... no coolers required! Not exactily practical.... but stealthy.
-
You might have to use aftermarket cores (like the two above) if you intend to use two coolers.... If you run much more air volume than stock you will probably find a nasty flow restriction using two factory cores.... if your running stock boost (or close to it) with your stock turbo you should be allright. You'll have to vent both coolers (air feed AND exit) well to give them any chance... maybe consider a water spray or thermo fans as well. If you go with a foward facing plenum, it will reduce the overall length of the pipe work quite alot with this style set up. If you do go with two cores, tap a boost guage into the charge pipe just after the turbo and one just before the throttle body... if you have more than 3/4 psi difference, it's to much or a restriction. I'm not saying dont do it, but even if two cores arn't a flow restriction, they won't be as efficient and will heatsoak quicker compared to a larger fmic. More effort, more cost (if you don't do the fabrication yourself) for less result??? Cheers Justin

.... fatz you temporary traitor!

Thanks for the feedback... Andy is a pretty serious kind of guy. I seemed to get along with him great. You do really need to have your car sorted before you take it to him, he's just too busiy to stuff around with the crappy little things. I've spoken to Ray a couple of times now... he's very helpfull and seems really genuine about helping you out. ViPec is at the top of my list, especially as I have a ruzic EM pro II on the way. From what I've seen, the software is very similar to Link ecu's. Cheers Justin

... when you live in Tasmania, for the sole reason it's easier to own a modified GTR and because it's a colder climate= make more HP!!! -
