Performance Filtration System For R33
XRATED replied to nightfighter_r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just put a good pannell filter in the stock box, the run a 2" hose from outside the engine bay to the inlet on the stock box. That is unless you want the fully hecktic tuner look for your NA! ! ! ! slow liner... -
What do you mean by "the rb26 is missing the top end"??? Have you actually taken the rb26 out? Or is this 16yo theory??? (Is it school holidays again...?) If you do want to do this, you need to get an rb25 from a stagea or 33 gts4. Both cars are AWD and will bolt in the same as a 26. If you do get the swap done, wired up and running a few things will happen: 1. You will go through fuel like crazy 2. You will breed a whole new group of lancer/corolla drivers who firmly believe they can beat a GTR 3. You will still be paying huge insurance 4. You will de-value your car 5. You will be laughed at from the wider skyline community Why don't you grab $10k and burn it.... it's alot quicker. Or... buy a really nice r32 gts with an NA rb25 and have some fun with that? Then keep saving for the costs of owning a GTR. J.

Ummm yeah DUDE... strapon=snap on (Daaa) I guess if your not comfortable trusting your life (feet) with your own craftsmanship then I'd suggest you dont.... come to think of it if you dont trust your own ability to modify things... maybe you shouldn't be working on your own cars. J.

Rb26- Where To Install Map Sensor For Ecu On A Gtr
XRATED replied to jeffworld2's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
do you want the quick nasty way or the right way? Quick-nasty: thread the map sensor into the top joining manifold where the VCT valve is normally. Right way: tap two threads into the center throttle plate after each throttle blade, then T them together into your map sensor. -
Nissan Gtr High Idle And Throttle Body Fix
XRATED replied to GTRPSI's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
For peoples information- The shaft seals in most 32 and 33 rb26 ITB's push out and leak under higher than stock boost too... Most of the seals I've seen are dry and cracked. They don't usually cause vacume leaks at idle, but it dose happen. Here's the kicker- Nissan don't sell the shaft seals seperately... J. -
Steelbraided Water And Oil Lines On Rb26dett
XRATED replied to rb26sedan's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just so you all know: Braided lines, either nylon lined or rubber lined- will not last as long as people might think... I do alot of work with hydralic/fuel/water lines in and around hot areas. 3-5 years is the max service life. You can crimp braided lines easier than seel ones You have many more potential areas for leaks or blockages... sepecially if they are cheap fittings. The actual alluminium fittings will corrode together if subject to water The rubber and nylon inserts will break down quite quickly if exposed to heat cycles... Also, the orange "fire sleeve" you can buy is designed to be a direct flame retanrdant-- not a heat shield. If you really need to change the solid lines, Trust and HKS both make them aftermarket- I'm fairly shure they are stainless steel too. Or bend your own set up from ally and use the aerquip flare tube nut and sleeve. Use braided line with caution. J. -
The trust T618Z 10cm kit seems to squeeze a little more power than the GTRS's... There is also rumors of a T620Z kit on it's way. Should be intersting. You'd be mad to choose a top mount set up for anything less than 400awkw. J.

Pic's damn it!

Hmmm I'd love to see somone have a good crack at an NA rb20. Good lightweight bottomend, short skirt high comp pistons etc... try and minimalise weight and friction. Well developed head that all works together.... right shape ports for the valves and tb's, correctly tuned ram tubes/cams/exhaust. If you want to get serious with CR, look at methanol- The key to a good engine like this is the builder... Good NA builders are getting hard to find, especially anyone who will play with an import 6 cyl eg. non V8.

Giggidy Giggidy.... Aaaawl rigggght!!!

Here's the link to one of the first PT set up's on a buddies r33 gtr... the details listed about the motor are incorrect. http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php/topic,24641.0.html It has: No Port work. Tomei cams not HKS. Greddy intake manifold, not stock. Stock gearbox and twin plate. It's a fairly basic engine build. Rods- pistons and a good oil pump. It's also sitting on a china- no name ebay manifold- ha ha ha! There was also a small problem with the coil packs breaking down above 30psi and a CAS timing problem. The car has also run a 6865 and currently had 72mm on it.... rebroad minded persons soon. The new 72mm seems to spool a little quicker than the 70mm. With out a re-tune, the 72 runs alot leaner off boost and under full boost... alot smoother too. We're expecting to see 900 to the tire. Hope that helps Justin

New Standing Mile Speed Record... Ford Gt40
XRATED replied to XRATED's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Well sports fans, the record was re-set at 266mph by the Hoffman GT40 last week... Unfortunatly I didn't attend (work... blahh). I'm shure Performance power/ Johnny are keen to get it back. Exiting times for standing mile!!! Cheers Justin -
Hey Damo, I've seen a few rb'd 240sx's getting around with cherry bomb turbo mufflers, single in twin out with straight pipes... They sound quite unique, I like them. http://www.cherrybomb.com/products/ Either that or have a look at some of the XR6 exhuaust products... there are some great 4" high flow/low sound-drone center mufflers out there.

Rb25de (supercharged) Project
XRATED replied to r33_racer's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
sweet, I'll check them out.... everyone seems to forget about egt's and egp. you basically live by it on large diesels. very handy and accurate tuning tool. J. -
Rb25de (supercharged) Project
XRATED replied to r33_racer's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Nice one Mitch! "They are far from equal length and abit messy".... bahahahahahah yeeer messy. What egt set up did you go with?? Cheers Justin -
Please have a part number if you PM me... I'm not a PT dealer or workshop/professional... So please don't ask me for advice.. Contact PT direct for product info. And I urge you to do your own reaserch. I can comment on they're build quality and for a coupe of set ups using PT turbo's. Just so you know, PT have a 38mm and 46mm ex wastegate too. Cheers J.
-
If people are interested, I can organise the purchase of PT turbo's if you wish from my Florida supplier (I'm in florida at the moment). And make shure they get shipped correctly etc. My supplier is a fellow enthusiast (it's a large marine diesel workshop) and only sells this stuff on the side... Awsome guys! He also tests PT combo's on his awsome 33 GTR. Just PM me. Cheers Justin

yeah, that's my back up plan...

x2 + Have a look at twin NA 300zx throttle bodies adapted to your origional plenum- Extrude hone and port matched manifold. Re-grind cams, good exhaust and a re-tune. Even still it's alot of work for a small gain. J.
-
run an rpm window switch to turn the vct on and off. J.
-
Add an internal sump/surge tank with an internal fuel pump and filter. I basically need to weld in an open box inside the tank.
-
Love it... tube frame+big top mounts= serious fun!
-
The car should go on the dyno in the next month or two. I wont have a full power sheet, but atleast you can see the off-boost/ramp up. J.
-
Start with a re-freshed rb26 head with custom NA cams. Keep the ITB's and throw some ram tubes on the induction side- You'll need to run a MAP sensor based ecu. Custom exhuast manifold/headers and exhaust. Bottom end will need alot of work, machined up crank, really good rods and lightweight high comp pistons... not to mention a super oil pump/collar, ballancer, light weight pullies, lightweight flywheel and clutch and a wholle lot of ballancing. Expect to spend 10k and still produce less power than a lightly boosted rb25. If you want anymore than 9000rpm then start looking at a custom billet counter weighted cranks, alluminium rods and a dry sump oiling system.... so double your budget.
