i ran 255/45's on some 17x9.5 +38's for a while, technically speaking they should sit close to where a 245 on a 17x9 +30 should. with a good guard roll you shouldnt have issues with a 245/45 on a +30, but it will depend on how good the roll is and what camber u are running.

buy some better tyres. a good quality thinner tyre will have a lot more traction that a wider lower quality tyre.

How To Change Adelaide's Ways In Modified Cars

so would you say that the drifting events don't attract any more police attention relative to the numbers attending? i can guarentee you that isn't the case, it's actually been pretty good lately, but i remember a time when i couldnt go to a drift practice without expecting massive cop presence. relatively speaking they were tiny sporting events, hell most of your local footy games would draw more numbers. thankfully we have been working with an officer in Mallala who has been extremely helpful, but even he can't stop officers from the nearby larger towns coming in and making a mess of each drift practice and competition there. but as i said, it has certainly seemed to get better lately. this is the issue, there are dickheads thrashing their imports which gives the cars a bad name, and im happy to be kept a close eye on, but when it gets to the point where officers are going to length just to defect my car because of a stereotype driving a car like mine comes with, i think we have all the right to question it. as i'm sure you are aware, most cars on the road are defectable in one way or another, anyone who has been through regency would know exactly how anal they are about road-worthiness. but these cars never get a 2nd look, even if the defects they have are much more of a safety issue than maybe a exhaust at 92db or a atmospheric BOV. a good example of how targeting affects defects is my mum drives around a VT commodore, bright gold paint, body kit, loud exhaust, aftermarket wheels, even had no tail lights for ages, she has never been pulled over in the car, she has been through RBT's and not had a 2nd look. all id say is officers now have hoon laws they can and do enforce, if they see an import driver doing something really stupid then they get pinned for it, those who arnt doing something stupid shouldnt have to cop a defect because they are suspected of being a hoon. what is illegal about intercooler pipes and painting your bonnet black? i have been through regency with polished alloy piping and not had an issue, unfortunately i have also been defected for intercooler piping before, but that was a mistake on the officers behalf, and a damn expensive one for me that's for sure. also keeping a tidy modified car isnt going to stop you from getting defected, i have been defected for legal modifications before, there's nothing fun about having to sit there and keep your mouth shut while an officer sends you off to regency for parts which you have been through regency before with and are 100% legal. -
eh, the only time eagles is half decent is at 3am in the morning, it's too high speed to be doing any earlier as cops are usually all over the joint. what time did u go up there, judging by the post around 1am? wouldnt expect much bs around then

u should have taken the hint from ns, u need to do something besides sit on the internet and whinge for something to happen. -
so the ones u are after are eibach? i know there is a bit of a wait for eibach springs, but really ur probably better off waiting for the eibachs rather than going a cheap local option.
-
haha yeh and thats the thing, too many variables on the street, setting up suspension would be hard enough on the track let a lone on the street.
-
my first spring were king springs but i didnt want to confuse the situation haha, the kingies were basically identical to the whitelines in the group buy, i already had them in so didnt see the point in buying the whitelines when i had the kingies. as i said, u dont need to be rich to own bilsteins, the basic street package is more than enough for most people that drive their cars on the street and a bit of track work, and that only costs $1500 for the damper/coils.
-
haha nah just get the thing out there and get a feel for it and go from there, see u at october prac day? but yeh, if u want ur grip u really need to drop the spring rates a bit and chuck some nice adjustable sway bars on there, then at least not only will u gain some grip, ull be able to balance ur car out much better with the adjustability in the sway bars.
-
wasnt a question exactly (yes i know there were question marks ), but remember u were the one that posted up $2500 figures first in a thread about R32 GTS-t's. i was just trying to defend the idea that bilsteins are very expensive and u can only afford them if ur rich, which just isnt true.
-
i started off with the street setup with bilstein dampers and soft street springs which cost $1500ish, now im running a track setup with eibach springs/adjustable seats with the bilstein dampers which cost $2200ish, 2 different setups which both share bilstein dampers.
-
for drift u could get away with the high spring rates, will make the car easy to snap around the place and very responsive/controllable, but u will sacrafice grip and speed. the high spring rates the japs often run is more to do with their style and the trend over there, their style is more about quick responsive moves, tight transitions, high angle etc. and there is less emphasis on grip and speed. but for grip u really want a much more balanced setup.
-
once again, we are talking about an R32 GTS-t. not 100% how u talking about ur R34 GTR is relevant here. pretty sure the stock springs are around 3kg all round, the whiteline group buy uses springs which are around 3.5kg all round for the street. the main issue with stock suspension is in the dampers, not so much the springs. there is no real need to go very high rates on the street, with decent sway bars u will have more than enough roll control for street conditions. going high rates will only mean a rougher ride and reduced traction. the spring/shocker combo u refer to are no less coilovers than any other suspension u can buy, the only difference between them and what people generally refer to as coilovers are they have thread adjustable lower seats rather than using circlips. if u dont plan on changing the ride height more than once every few months then u will never even know the difference. btw i run the bilstein/eibach combo with the "coilover conversion kit", 6/4kg, that ended up costing around $2200ish. i bought these to suit the track, i wouldnt have bothered with them if my car didnt see a lot of track work.
-
for the street maybe 4.5kg/3.5kg, for track around the 6/4kg mark.
-
sydneykid, dampers = $1200ish, springs = $300ish.
-
marginal, probably less than $50 difference. and besides, the thread starter is after GTS-t suspension.
-
?? i paid under $1500 for mine, i have nfi where ur getting ur figures from.
-
i should be there, just gotta source some decent tyres, stone hard street tyres with 2mm of tread just aint cutting it anymore
-
wonder how it works for me as ive flared my guards, i would expect i have an extra few mm of eyebrow height then stock.
-
the front 10mm lower than the rear? isnt it the other way round?
-
well, i think i ended up racking up around 5000 votes for ya last night

i fell in love with skylines a year or so before that, started doing paper rounds and started saving the $$ from that. parents helped me set up the savings account etc. they didnt come up with idea of saving for a car, but they were obviously supportive of me doing it.
