Yep Getting a resonable amount of blow by through my atmo BOV. Am starting to do a bit of track work. My engine has done around 250,000kms. Bandaid fixing before it get too bad and I need to replace the engine.

This one look ok?

Hmmm, might have been an issue with my Catch Can (I am buying one with bigger inlets) or I could have a rooted PCV... how do you check it? pull it out and try to breath in and out through it?
-
Top marks! Well done mate. I am looking at doing similar soon, just finishing my amps / boot install then will be looking at building a glovebox mounted PC to run the touchscreen.

Can anyone tell me why the car would have been blowing smoke when plumbed us as per Nath's second post? Thanks for your help!! Todd

Hi Guys, well this is my car. I am thinking about either painting my rims white, black, gunmetal or bronze OR putting them on the family magna wagon and getting myself some new rims... I am interested in seeing what others have on their 32's and how big you can go. CAN I FIT 20's under there?? My current rims are 18x8's (not sure of the offset but I believe correct - maybe 35) and I have had to trim the rear guards right back to 'minimise' scrubbing. Can I get a wider tyre on if I get a different offset (taking them in further) or will that just cause more problems? Anyway, this is as much for me as for every other R32/Skyline lover out there... Post your pics up and give your opinions! Thanks guys!! Todd

Sorry, I meant Nath's first post...

Thanks for your help guys! I think I will be doing it as I described and as NathR32 posted. I had it setup as WAZR32GTST suggested and it seemed fine for a little while then my car started blowing masses of smoke at high RPM. I removed the can after checking a lot of other things and it is now fine however I am getting a reasonable amount of oil through my atmo BOV after a flogging so I would like to connect it up properly. I am not sure if it has damaged anything to cause this excess blowby or not. I might look at also getting a different can as the one I have at the moment is VERY cheap, has tiny inlets (I have to use reducers) and cannot be opened to baffle with S/Steel Wool. Anything further would be great, thanks again! Todd

Anyone, surely someone has put this style can on an RB20 before... Thanks in advance.
-
I can't help you with your question sorry but I am looking at an alternative to Nissan to get my belts, where have you purchased yours?
-
I am guessing you are not running an RB20 if you had 206kw on a stock turbo... What are we talking? Also, don't even bother with Ebay... you will most likely throw your money away and have to buy another turbo meaning you could have purchased something that would out perform and out last what you end up with.

Hi Guys, I know there are heaps of catch can threads but after reading pages and pages I thought I might be best just posting this to get a quick answer so people do have to go through page upon page as I wan't to sort this out today. I only have 2 questions. 1. My catch can only has 2 connections, is there a specific inlet and outlet or are they both just holes into the can (that I what I expect...) 2. This picture of my RB20 shows how I think it should be setup from my research. (thanks again SK). Does anyone have any differences of opinion? Thanks for your help and sorry for starting yet another thread. Todd

Nice Damo, Love the tail lights too and I like what you have done with the boost gauge. Is that a different wing? Still love the 4 doors, that is what I originally purchased but a long story! Now get that manual box in! You won't know what to do with yourself!

yeah, a combination between the thin and thick stuff... I found using a heap of small pieces around the middle helped to get the right circle line. Took a while but paid off!

Sorry mate, not in VIC. Wouldn't do it for a slab, BIG job when done properly!! 30 mins to jack car and put on 4 stands 30 mins each corner to clean 30 mins each corner to mask 20 mins each corner to paint 10 mins each corner to sand Total excluding drinking time = 5hrs but probably more like 6-7hrs
-
Hope this helps. I did mine this weekend. Pretty happy with the result, I painted the hubs as well. Looks much better I think! First, Jack up the car, put onto stands and pull the wheels off. Clean the calipers and hubs. I used a medium flat wire wheel on the drill, a wire brush and sandpaper. Then cleaned it all up with turps. (probably could have found something a little better but turps cleand off the dust and preped it ready for painting. Masking! This is quite simple but very fiddly! If you don't wany paint there, mask it up!! Took me about 30 mins per corner. Painting. Do this from a ruler didstance (30-40cm) and in short bursts. Start with the hard to reach places so you don't get a big build up and it all works out even! Do a light coat of each and come back and keep going on each of them until you are happy. Less is more, once you can't see the original colour, put a little more on and leave it at that! Sand the top of the nissan logo AFTER you have let it dry overnight! Work slowly, I found a block to be a bit much so just used a smalle piece in my fingers and was VERY careful. You don't want to scratch them after all that hard work!! Mmmmmmm, Nice! Anyway, it is a lot bigger job than you think, even when you have done it before!! DO NOT CUT CORNERS, if it is worth doing, it is worth doing properly! Plus this way it will last! I will add a full car pic when I wash it, hopefully tomorrow! Hope that helps someone! Todd

Fitting a short shifter. (R33 GTR) - lots of pictures.
CATKICKER replied to PranK's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Ah cool, well worst case $4 isn't too much to have to fork out but the time involved in ordering, paying, waiting for and then collecting it is a pain. Better than a useless shifter in the bottom of the draw! Todd -

Hey mate, if you are talking about the lower bush (cap) on the very bottom then I would try and get it from the seller... I attempted to reuse the one from the factory shifter and it busted off! Are you talking about the seller 'nottieboy'? That is where I got mine, good quality kit (for the price) but had the upper ring on the shifter missing so I cut the factory shifter in half and used that one. The instructions provided with the kit were COMPLETELY WRONG and basically had the setup upside down. Didn't work correctly and I was very unhappy. I took it up with the seller and was provided with a link to this thread so that was helpful!! When removing the shifter to reinstall it as per these instructions, the lower bush (the cap) poped off the end of the shifter and got stuck in the box. I had to purchase one from Nissan which cost $4, it was a little smaller inside so I had to LIGHTLY file the end of the shifter (basically remove the chrome plating). I also purchased a new lower boot as mine had splt and had leaked oil everywhere, that cost about $14. Now that it is installed correctly, it works beautifully! I love it! I do however have to knock it over to 5th a little but that is probably a combination of the short throw and a worn syncro... I do have a couple of questions however... How are you meant to fix/seal the bottom of the lower boot to the square plate? The little lip on it isn't enough and it is way to big to strech the boot over it... Is it normal that if you screw it all the way up it is too tight/stiff? Or is that just a result of the cheaper 'universal' kit? I may have to do what Pal suggested and make a spacer for the top of the box. Thanks and hope it helps. Todd -
Nice work dude! Can't wait to get my little RB20 up near that!! Must be having a ball with the power increase.

Wheel Alignment Done!
CATKICKER replied to CATKICKER's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
So it seems like they have done alright? Other than the uneven caster on the front? Will the uneven tyre wear be a lot or minimal? Also, could it be setup better for street use or is this a good all-round setup? -
Hi Guys, I have just had my wheel alignment done after installing the following suspension gear myself. Bilstein Height Adjustable Shocks Super Low King Springs Tomei HICAS Lock Kit Whiteline Adjustable Front Camber Kit Whiteline Adjustable Front Sway Bar Whiteline Adjustable Front Caster Kit Whiteline Adjustable Rear Camber Kit Whiteline Adjustable Rear Sway Bar Whiteline Rear Sub Frame Alignment Kit Cusco Front Strut Brace Cusco Rear Strut Brace I requested that the car was setup to SydneyKid's reccomended settings: Front Camber: -1.00 Front Caster: 7.00 SAI: 9.00 Front Toe: 0.00 Rear Camber: -0.5 Rear Toe: 2.00mm in on each side This is what I have driven away with: FRONT CAMBER Left: -1.29' Right: -1.31' CASTER Left: +7.02' Right: +6.37' TOE Left: -0.0 Right: +0.1 REAR CAMBER Left: -1.33' Right: -1.25' TOE Left: +1.9 Right: +2.2 Would you say this was a good job or could they have done better? Should I just settle or get someone else to do it? I got them to grease up my front upper arms too as I don't have grease gun but they checked everything I had done and said it was all installed correctly and very well... Basically I just don't want to have spent all this money and time buying and installing the gear for it to be setup incorrectly so any help suggestions would be great!! Thanks in advance for your help guys!! Todd
