  6. Hi Guys just a quick one... I was checking my ECU for error codes (R32 RB20DET 5sp) and it is giving me error code 54 (Auto Trans Signal). Is this normal for a manual? If not, would it have something to do with my remap'? If not, would it mean that I have an auto ECU? Thanks for your help! Todd
  7. it is a very big job in my mind (espesially the windows - have you got the window lift module or does it just say it has an output?) I have realisticly done about 30 odd alarms in the last 6 years and generally takes me a FULL day to do it properly - not including additional options such as window lift or microwave sensors... Like most things with cars, you want to be sure it is 100% because you may have the intent to go back and fix it but it won't happen (until it is stolen) espesially things like pin switches ect... My 2c best of luck mate, also in my mind a wiring diagram can be helpful but NEVER as useful as a multimeter!
  8. Cheers Mate!! Yeah I live in Brighton, work in town, must be when cruising home (as early as I can get away with ) What are you driving? Really appreciate you comments! Thanks, Todd
  9. Dr Drift charges $330 for the remap and $180 per hour of dyno time to fine tune! I had it done to mine and gained around 3rwkw BUT it was detonating it's head off! It did however gain 20kw throughout the rev range, I had speed cut removed, rev limiter lifted a little and it was a completly different car to drive. If you live near your tuner, it is good thing to get done, if you don't and plan on doing future mods then you should really consider your options! I live in Tas and had it done during a Dr Drift visit. I am looking at getting it done again after I install my AFM and injectors and luckily he plans to come back down. would be a different story if I had to venture up to melb! Make your own mind up!
  10. or remap your ECU...
  11. Cheers Sam, sounds good to me!! As I mentioned, I will need to get you to program me a chip to suit my GTR injectors and Z32 AFM before that time so I am able to install them and drive out to Nick's place... I am ready whenever you come and am glad to hear that you are so I can plan for that rather than an aftermarket setup (a lot more costly when I have already modded the ECU and don't plan on changing too much after this). Anyway, would be good if you could let me know (or just post it up on here or NS) when you plan on coming down. Thanks again! Todd
  12. I haven't had a chance to check the error codes... just wondering if it was fuel, could it be the AFM? and if that was the cause, could a faulty AFM cause my idle issue - Sits at 1500rpm when I stop at the lights and then after 5secs or so, it goes down... The problem goes away after an ECU reset but comes back after around 200k's. This leads me to think that the ECU is recieving an error (MAYBE THE AFM) and tries to adjust the A/F ratios to a safe level... Resetting the ECU didn't fix the cloud of smoke issue. Just a thought. BTW, I originally thought it could be the O2 sensor (idle issue) so I replaced that and rest the ECU. (obviously fixed it temporaraly) I also resoldered the AFM internals, cleaned it and cleaned out the ACC valve. Seriously guys, I really do appreciate your help and will help others out when I can! Thanks! Todd
  13. My list here says idle switch...
  14. Well... it wasn't the BOV! I am going to have to check the ECU for error codes. Lets see if there is any insight in there... I am still thinking it is oil, it would have to be a SHITE load of fuel, and it seems to be running well! Any other ideas? Once I get the final verdict from the shop, I may look at replacing the engine with a low k jobbie (will only need the engine, no box, loom, puter or manifolds...) and building this one up over time with some more solid internals.
  15. Yeah, but I still have the factory one... Might be the cheapie leaking? Might try putting in a couple of washers and removing the vaccume hose (and block that off of course) Thanks very much for you help! Todd
  16. Will do! Thanks mate! let me know if you think of the name I could give them a buzz.
  17. Hi Guys, my car started puffing smoke the other day and I might be looking at replacing the engine (has done over 220,000kms - RB20DET) It happens when I absolutly gas it (around redline / fullboost) and when I back off or change gear, it puffs a pretty big cloud of dark smoke (don't think it is fuel) I don't think it is my turbo as it is at high RPM not specifically high PSI that it happens. Plus I recently replaced it with a low km R34 turbo. It is still driving perfectly fine, pulls hard but just puffs pretty hardcore when I back off. Started happening on a big highway drive a few weeks back and hasn't gone away. Pretty embarrasing when you drag someone off at the lights and then cover them in smoke! Anyway, long story short, before I take it in to the mechanic for a diagnosis, what could it be? Worn Rings? - I would have thought it would happen all the time not just when backing off Worn / Damaged Valves? - Most likely in my mind... Catch Can? - Maybe it is how I hooked it up? - Did a bit of research on here how others have done it... Would be great to get some ideas. Thanks in advance!! Todd
  18. Yeah, I don't think it has a check valve... has anyone here done it before?
  19. Hi Guys, just quickly... I replaced my stock fuel pump a while ago with a bosch 040 in my R32 GTS-t. Since then, I have had trouble starting it (have to wait for it to fully prime the lines and pump the gas) I believe this is due to the factory pump having a valve in it to stop fuel draining back in the tank. Hence my problem! Can someone give me a couple of pointers? Firstly, where do I purchase a suitable valve and how much should I expect? Also, where is the best place to fit it? Is there enough space just after the pump at the top of the cradle in the fuel line ?(it's pretty tight there from memory, I am guessing as close to the tank the better). Anyway, thankyou in advance for you help!! Todd
  20. I will ask Benny myself if you want the bell housing...
  21. Saw you last night I think Gerard. Looks very nice (Needs a wash but very nice!)
  22. You should have an idle adjustment screw on your ACC valve... Not sure if it is the same on an R33 GTR but on my R32 GTS-t it is at the back of the intake plenum.
  23. as does washing up liquid!
  24. I think toffy has one off an R34 in rebuildable condition...
