  1. Haha yep, definitely spotted ya! Arm out the window Spotted a Silver R32 GTR on Castle Hill Rd on Saturday near the middle of the day... He flashed me but my g/f was driving so I couldnt flash back (I asked her to flash but she said I needed to get a few drinks into her first!)
  2. There's often stuff listed in the weekend newspapers which gets excellent exposure.. I think its fairly expensive to list there in comparison to anything online, but if you're selling the plates for $10k....
  3. Woah thats freaky.. how did you guess!?
  4. Buh? Did you even read my post fully??... I never said that an 89 magna cant be used for street racing I said (and I'll quote myself again so you read it properly this time): I was talking about how having a loud and modified car ISNT criteria for having your car crushed, but generally cars that are street racing are modified and loud...
  5. It should be, but you dont really need a licence to drive a car. Sure its illegal, but so is racing i dont see whats wrong with impounding cars and/or selling them. Why do they have to be crushed? Confiscation should be enough to teach people!
  6. Everyone speeds... agreed! What people dont seem to understand is that these are PUBLIC forums, which means that police, newspaper/current affair/media, RTA, the guy across the road, or your mother can log in an read this... Admitting stuff on public forums is just stupid.. Sure, the cops arent going to track you down and prosecute you for something you wrote on a forum (though it has happened before!), but its a stupid idea to pronounce to everyone that you are breaking the law. It doesnt serve any purpose except to massage ego's, and give a false impression to newbies to the club that its ok!! Not to mention confirming the police and media's fears that we are all a bunch of psychotic street racing hoons who must be stopped at all cost!!! We're just lucky that they havent started quoting car forums in newspaper articles and stuff yet. I promise you, its coming! Here's an example.. Unrelated topic, but media are quoting forum users on inthemix.com.au about the GHB toys: http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=318494 If anyone is going to speed on the streets, race, do burnouts, thats their choice! Just dont post it up on here for EVERYONE to read!!!
  7. Thats my main concern too. Although I would hope you would need to be caught at least three times before they crushed your car. Kinda like going to jail for driving without a licence. They arent just gonna give you jail time after a first offence... You have to be a serious repeat offender. I hope they take the same approach with this thing too!
  8. No... thats not what it says at all. Its pretty rare that a stock '89 magna is going to be used for street racing. They are just saying that in most cases the cars are modified and loud because stereotypically they are. They're not saying that its a criteria for having your car crushed.
  9. FFS man.. you are exactly who these laws are designed for. Racing your mates for fun in the streets is stupid and dangerous. Personally I am glad this has been suggested. Maybe it will get a whole lot more import driving P platers off the streets so they wont be able to give us a bad name any more!! By us i mean those of us who take it to the track instead. Enthusiasts get dragged down with the 'hoon' label created by f**kwits who race on the streets. Quite obviously, it pisses me right off!
  10. Screw sprinkle-head... Johnny glaze-face all the way!
  11. I've heard you can get a good rimjob from a place in Kings Cross too! I had a crack that went all the way through the outer part of the rim. It released air very quickly, so it was a fairly large crack. They welded it up, and filed it back. It wasnt a particularly flashy finish on the rim - just a matte aluminium, so they just polished it up and it came out looking good as new. There was weld marks on the inside of the rim where they didnt clean it up as nicely, but it was obviously like that because it isnt visible.. I cant comment on their finishes as mine wasnt really all that difficult.. but from the quality of the work that i saw I would recommend them.
  12. Pushing my memory, but i think in the vicinity of $60-80...
  13. The only one I know about and can recommend (because I've used them) is Wheel Repair Centre, 8 Pioneer ave Thornleigh, 02 99801125. Did a good job of repairing my cracked rim.. Done a few track days on it since and it's held up perfectly.
  14. Many of us have an alarm AND follow the precautions you just listed (eg. taking another car instead). Not having an alarm is asking for trouble man.. I hope for your sake the next stolen thread isnt yours! Edit: Oops - beat me to it Doof.. haha
  15. FFS if all these cars being stolen are uninsured, why does my insurance cost so much!!?? So sorry to hear about your car mate.. Hope they find it soon
  16. There's no such thing as a workshop/parts supplier with an impeccable record. Your best bet is to use the search functionality to review the many many other threads that cover the same topic.
