  1. Ok.. ill rephrase my initial question.. I just didnt want this to end up another series vs series thread! How much difference does X amount of weight make in the REAL WORLD. People talk about the R33 as a 'boat' etc. But how much actual performance difference/benefit is there as a result - NOT including other factors of course. Im not talking specific numbers, just your opinion of whether a small amount of weight makes a difference in the performance of a car
  2. Yep you're right.. kerb weight not dry weight!
  3. A lot of people mention the extra weight of the R34 and R33 over the R32. How much real world difference does extra kilos make to the performance of a car? Obviously less weight means more speed and better handling. So considering the R33 GTS-T is 3.7% heavier than the R32 GTS-T, would this mean that the R32 is exactly 3.7% faster than an R33? (obviously comparing cars with exactly the same tyres, suspension etc etc). If this is the case, then 3.7% isn't much difference IMO - I think driver skill would 'outweigh' this small percentage when it comes to any type of competition, be it track or drag events! Here are the KERBweights I've found for each model: R32 GTS-T - 1320kg R33 GTS-T - 1370kg R34 GT-T - 1410kg R32 GTR - 1480kg R33 GTR - 1530kg R34 GTR - 1540kg What do you think?
  4. Holy crap! I always worry about mowers etc when driving past! You gotta be seriously unlucky to actually get hit with something, let alone a piece of sheet metal!! They would have to compensate you for this, surely!
  5. Still available... Price dropped to $950 inc shipping!!
  6. I agree.. nine times is definitely not random unless you are parking your car on a main road (like George St!!) every night of the week That sux though... random acts of cowardly jelousy attacks are lower than raping your own grandmother.. well.. almost.
  7. I think that the simple reason that they dont have cameras in the whole carpark is that it would be an IMMENSELY expensive excercise to cover every space in the carpark. Think about the vast expanse and the number of levels in any shopping centre. It's just not feasible to install CCTV in carparks considering that if a car is stolen, it is going to have to go past the camera at the exit of the carpark, at which time, the person who is stealing the car smiles into the camera on the way out! This obviously doesnt help the break/enter side of things, but you can sort of understand where they are coming from by not installing cameras everywhere...
  8. Ditto.. I was so sketchy even leaving my car at Epping Hotel the other night, I even walked out to check it every 30 mins! Its such a shame that we have to go to these extremes because of a heartless bastards who cant earn their own buck doing something legitimate
  9. Hmmm... Sorry to hear about your loss Stan. I hope the bastards are caught (BY THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES)and dealt with severely. That better Blitz?
  10. Not necessarily true.. If you think about how a wastegate works, it could just be adding more to compensate for the leaking boost. I had a leak, and showed no change in boost pressure at all...
  11. Ohhh of course.. Thats what I was going to say next! Awesome description. I see exactly what you mean. Thanks for the answer mate!
  12. Ah ok, yeah I see exactly what you mean. So this means that an engine has to flow exactly X amount of air to make X amount of horsepower, so therefore a turbo that flows 38LBS/Min = approximately the amount of air required to create 380HP of power?
  13. I was wondering if someone could explain the HP rating on some turbos? I dont really understand how this number could be derived? Eg. I have an Apexi AX53B70-P25 which is rated at 380HP.
  14. Yeah I would say boost leak, or a gasket on the turbo. I had a gasket on the turbo go just last week.. It didnt sound exactly like that, but it was another high sitched squealing sound (similar to turbo induction noise but louder)... it was only $45 for the part, but it was a turbo-out job...
  15. Oh ok.. a worthwhile upgrade by the sound of it. A skyline would still be better
  16. was there much different about them? not just some stickers and a re-vamped front bar or something was it?
  17. How light are they? does anyone know a ballpark figure? like 1150kg or something?
  18. Sweet.. Well you'd probably have more luck finding a 33 than a 180sx. There is millions around now... Have you thought about buying through a Melb or Syd importer and shipping the car to you? You may save a bit of money, and they would also have more eyes at the auctions to find the car thats right for you.. Just a thought.
  19. If you read the thread, it shows that we dont yet know if they are the same, but people are checking to see if they are...
  20. I havent got sound on this PC to hear the sound, but is it like a squealing belt of some sort?
  21. lol... i saw this guy on Monday (GTR badge-boy)... waved, nothing in return.. I'm sure if he was on SAU he would have been completely shut down with his "Should I put a GTR badge on my GTT" thread... So he's obviously not on here!
  22. Nah that wasnt me, but there are a couple of others in the area.. If it had a black bonnet it was Wilch.. There is also a guy that lives around here that privately imports and sells skylines, so it could have been one of his. I'm surprised I havent seen you around anywhere though.. do you usually have the skyline around this area?
  23. Yep, ill let you know. Ahh yeah thats a decent distance! I live right near Pennant Hills actually. Small world, or over population of skyline owners?
