  1. Yeah as i mentioned above, black crap all over the rear bar was a regular occurance. Surprisingly i've noticed more black smoke since the afr's have been fixed. Either that, or i've just got more time to look at the guy in the rear view mirror since gaining the 30rwkw
  2. I got an Ohlins C Spanner from a motorbike shop for $19.95. Fits my Apexi N1 Coilovers beautifully! Motorbike shop is the way to go, IMO they are less likely to rip you off! ...to answer your question, no they arent all the same, but they are a fairly generic size, and if you buy one a little bit too big or too small it will still work fine..
  3. Yeah it does add up, but i'd kill to have a 225kw turbo that does 10.5l/100k!! BTW Craved, where do you live?
  4. lol.. yeah just about... I would wash my car, and within a week, there was black stuff all over the bumper again... it was very annoying! suprisingly i didnt get THAT bad fuel economy... about 15.5L/100k.. But it should be miles better now!
  5. I'm not sure of the exact amount, as I got a bunch of other maintenance type stuff done as well. Approx $450-500 I think. Ben did mention it was a full tune from scratch because there was some silly stuff in the old tune (originally from Japan). Total time on the dyno was about 4.5 hours i think. I had been running that tune for about 4-5 months..
  6. Well the answer is always gonna be -- For the cred People often spend shitloads on slower cars so that they have something 'different'. It's common sense, that if you want a faster car, you start with a faster platform. This guy obviously wanted a prelude specifically, that goes faster than most others It must have taken him sh*tloads of heart-ache to get where he is, he probably deserves a bit of credit, even if it isnt a tyre frying monster! .... well, it probably IS a front tyre frying monster, but you get what i mean!
  7. Yeah there isnt that many places to really open the car up in the hills (best left for the track anyway!!) Are you buying privately, or through an importer? Other Mods: Apexi GT Spec FMIC Apexi Turbo (380hp) Apexi PowerFC Apexi Boost Control Solenoid Apexi N1 Coil-overs 3" Exhaust (Turbo Back) High flow Cat Bigger injectors (550cc or 700cc, not sure) Aftermarket Fuel Pump Standard Coils (For now...) etc.. etc.. etc..
  8. Yeah definitely. It's a very noticable difference! A lot better response now. The turbo that is in there (Apexi unit) spools really quickly now, whereas before it was really sluggish to get going. It's a lot more fun to drive, as I found dont have to concentrate as hard on keeping the revs up in certain corners etc. But you said it - I'm happy with it "for now"... Give me 6 months and I'll want more. It's the relentless pursuit for more power we all suffer from!
  9. Good work Stan. I think you'll get HEAPS of interest in these. Thanks for taking to time to organise this!!
  10. I just wanted to post this dyno sheet to show what sort of difference a GOOD tune can do for car with a PowerFC. The only difference between the two runs was a minor service, and the PowerFC Tune (done by Ben @ UAS). He did an awesome job as you can see! Free plug for Unique AutoSports! They did a great job!
  11. Ooo now you're talkin! Laser etched carbon fibre look. That's not a bad idea!!
  12. I have an HKS Electronic Idle Stabiliser for sale if you want it? It's used, but in 100% working condition.
  13. you're clueless mate.. get you're facts straight before posting this sort of dribble^ http://www.spectre-rdd.com/stalcar.asp
  14. Currently im not willing to separate. If this changes in the near future, I'll prompt you for an offer. Cheers
  15. Now $950 incl shipping
  16. I think a complete replacement option would be the way to go, providing the cost isnt too crazy. You could also sell them on Ebay or sell them to online car stores, and make some profit if they are replacement items too. Overall I'd prefer replacement items, but if the cost is more than 50% more than using existing items, it's probably not worth it. Just my 2c
  17. Yeah there is a lot of difference. Do a search on google, and find out about the different bands of radar that they use in different countries/states. Eg. Ka Band, K Band, X Band etc etc.. Not all detectors will pick up every band...
  18. Oh ok, yeah you guys are right, it's self levelling suspension. I was getting confused as my Lexus RX330 has self-levelling xenon headlights which move around as you go up a hill or around a corner or whatever.
  19. Yeah you can get some HID kits from group buys for about $220. As wink said, stick to white, and you'll be fine. Legally, cars with xenon have to have self-levelling headlights for obvious reasons. If you put xenons in your standard headlights, it will be illegal, but 90% of the time, you wont get defected for it.
  20. Laser can only be jammed if you have small wide band laser emitters in your front grille, which confuse the the laser gun... And im sure they cost a fair bit more than $6-$800... The prob with laser jamming, is that they KNOW straight away that you are jamming them because they cant get a reading. They will pull you over immediately and check your car for jammers then. and they arent hard to spot if they are two black emitters sitting in your grille... The problem is that laser speed measuring devices are so damn good! It only takes about 1/2 of a second to get a reading once they have focused on your car. and it hardly ever plays up. Jamming this signal would be a dead giveaway. The only way to get around this is to run the jammer, if your detector goes off, SLOW DOWN, and then turn the jammer off, so that they can get a reading from you doing 60km/h i think its all too much time and money... just drive a bit slower and you'll be right!
  21. I second that... MDF is the shizzle

  23. Hehe yeah, you thought shining a laser pointer at a plane is dangerous. Try jamming their radars every time you go past the airport!!
  24. Yikes... I would strongly suggest against using a radar detector -- http://smh.com.au/articles/2004/09/23/1095651474289.html The very last paragraph - "Anyone brazen enough to drive with a radar detector fitted to their car will be in for a shock if they are caught. The fine has dropped from $1202 to $1175, but now attracts nine demerit points"
  25. AFIAK: 1. They are almost useless against laser guns (most of the ones they use from the side of the road are laser), because by the time the detector picks up the laser, they have your speed! Laser doesn't give off much extraeneous light, like radar throws waves everwhere when its turned on. Radar detectors use these extra waves to alert you before you get to the radar unit 2. There are different types of radar bands that they use from state to state. You have to do some reasearch to make sure that you get the right one. 3. There are Radar detector detectors around, so some cop cars (which have detector detectors fitted) WILL KNOW that you have a detector. Ok in heavy traffic, but if they get you on your own, your gone!! If you think about it, you can't usually speed in heavy traffic anyway! 4. There is a huge fine (like $1000) I think for having one. I THINK that you can lose points off your licence too, but dont quote me on that, i could be wrong? 5. There are supposedly 'stealth' undetectable units around, but they always find a way to detect the stealth units, if they cant now, you can almost bet they will be able to in a years time. 6. They obviously wont work for 95% of fixed speed cameras cos they dont use radar or lidar (laser). You can get GPS units which basically warn you when you are approaching one though... But they are separate units to detectors. The GPS units are fully LEGAL. Well worth buying one if you are into gadgets and flashing lights. But it's cheaper and safer to just drove slower -- Edit: Also, give the guy who runs this site a call: http://www.australianradar.com.au When I last spoke to him, he seemed to know what he was on about.
