Sorry I sent my reply before you edited your post so I missed the second bit. That is an average figure for the whole tank of highway driving. Calculated the old fashioned way, not based on the average fuel consumption figure on the computer. Though as was said before if you reset it right before a trip it's only .2-.3L out at most. As I mentioned earlier my average per tank of mixed driving is 8.4-8.8L In comparison to 4 bangers we've done long trips in the Falcon does use more fuel. Our other car (2010 Mazda3) does mid 6's on the highway with the two of us and luggage but it's doing plenty more revs at those speeds and is only a 4spd Auto, the seats are also far less comfy. Turbo Diesel Focus at work is mid 5's in the same conditions and has a crap load more torque to work with (6spd Man). we also have a Prius here which is not much better than the focus, and worse to drive. I get the impression that you won't be convinced unless you see it first hand and I can respect that as I'm exactly the same.

You make me laugh Harry I reckon you'd be good to have a few beers with. I'll let you know when I next drive up to QLD getting 16L per hundred, you can shout me the first round because I'll obviously be broke. Have a good weekend guys

lol and it starts again... I think you have misread or misunderstood what I was saying. That and the fact that upon re-reading it, I wasn't as clear as I could have been. "That is what I'm saying though, highway driving climate control on, 2 passenger, weekend luggage etc, it easily gets those figures on the highway. Add a person or two and it gets up to high 7s low 8s" And by that I mean add a person or two and their luggage for a weekend trip and trundle off down the hume with climate on and it'll then do high 7's to low 8's at worst. So if the very best it ever sees is a between 7.0 and 7.5 (average of about 7.25 for the whole trip) then averaging closer to 8L per hundred after adding a couple of people and luggage is still quite good. We're talking close to 2T at that point. I'm not sure how much the luggage would weigh but with 4 of us in the car we fill the 510 litre boot easily enough. I'd have thought the comments about the hire cars and regularly seeing numbers on par with those would have convinced you. Let the laughs continue!

OK I can't stay quiet anymore God I'd have some good laughs from this thread. I've just filled the tank and am heading to and from Melbourne tomorrow to collect a car for the missus and was going to do what Matt did but he's beaten me too the punch! The question remains, have the people who were looking for tow cars actually done anything about it or have we all wasted considerable amounts of time?

Best Place To Get Tyres?
No Crust Racing replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
As it wasn't a tech or performance question or even Nissan related I didn't want to clog up the specific thread with it. I'm waiting on Wheeltech to come back to me with a price (the guy who supplied my Silvia tyres). Local prices are generally pretty crap unless you want a Bob Jane all rounder. Ahh thanks for that he was the other cheaper guy I was thinking of. -

Tempe will do the 225s for 155 delivered. How does that sound? -
Best Place To Get Tyres?
No Crust Racing posted a topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi Guys, The daily needs new tyres, it's an 07 BF Falcon and currently has Kumho LX Platinium KU27s on it (came on the car), they are bloody fantastic compared to anything I have driven on in my Falcons (for normal driving not sporty driving, though the outright grip is amazing given the tread wear and tyre life). I'm going to get another set but wondering where is the cheapest place you guys have found for tyres? I'll be after 4x 235 50 R17s (though 225s would be fine also as that's what it has on it though 235s tend to be cheaper) and would need shipping to Albury most likely. I'm contacting a couple places through ebay at the moment and Tempe tyres as well. -
Update to this. Car is much angrier with the fuel pump in. I wound in some more boost ~16psi, wound in some more timing (as it was retarded) and took fuel OUT of the transition point as it was too rich, seems to hold 12.5 all the way through and wants to light up second coming onto boost just from rolling along and nailing throttle. Spool time seems the same, 15-16psi approx 4000rpm but it came on much harder tonight (might just be the cold air). Was also thinking...what do people think I might make on this car with a Dr Drift Remap? It made 164rwkw on a dyno dynamics at approx 13-14psi on a T25G using just the SAFC II and some retarded base timing. The differences would be: - Base Timing at 10 degrees and proper timing throughout due to remap - Walbro fuel pump - installed - T28BB at 15psi I was under the impression that the T28 at 15psi would actually be flowing a lot more air than the 25G at roughly the same psi but I'm looking around dyno threads and seeing some people making 160rwkw with the above modes, some making 190rwkw. I'd be annoyed if a bigger turbo with a touch more boost, better timing, and better fuel pump only got me 5-10rwkw. I was kind of hoping it would make 180-190rwkw (if I went ahead and got it remapped) or is that too ambitious on 15psi? I could push the turbo harder but not before adding injectors.

Very easy guy to deal with, brought a Walbro from him and it was delivered in good time exactly as described.
Cheers

Balancing My Home Gym Routine

Your arms must have been skinnier than mine and given your starting weight I'd think that's probably understandable. If the elbow is happy to continue they will stay. Mind you, when I get a rack (had a look last night, might have to go outside yet...) then chin ups might replace them as I used to LOVE chin ups. -

Yeah watched a few clips that said longer legged or less flexible guys can/mayneed to bend knees to clear shins which I need to do. Feel surprisingly good today, elbow isn't too sore and back feels alright so that's good news. Gotta at least have some arm work in their Kez otherwise I'll end up looking like I just have tits. -

Update to this. If I'm ever going to do a big change up I do it Fridays as I have the weekend to recover so tonight I just had a bit of a little mix up on the normal routine. Started playing with 3x 10 reps tonight and weighed everything properly also - Ezy bar is only 5kg it seems and all weights include bar weight. Dropped bench to 3x 10 reps and chucked on a few extra KGs as I was confident I would be OK with that, completed @ 65kg, feel I could add another 5 pretty easily and then I'd be in "building" territory for my current strength. Did crunches as per usual Dropped Ezy Bar curls to 3x 10 reps at 30kg and completed this, Elbow wasn't stoked but held up OK, wouldn't be able to add a huge amount to this before not making the full 3 sets so not far from building territory on that one. Dropped Ezy bar squat to 3x 10 reps and added a few kgs, completed at 42kg and again feel that the legs can take more but cleaning it up and over the shoulders is the harder part. Did scissors as per usual Did cheater spa dips as per usual Had a go at straight leg dead lift, did 3x 10 reps at a just 25kg and completed that. Felt VERY awkward doing this motion an am reasonably confident the form is probably not crash hot as I'm trying to work out where to put my legs, shoulders, hips etc Anything that involves bending over like that I find a little awkward as my legs aren't very flexible. Had a shoulder press with the same 25kg, did 3x 10 and noticed that this is difficult exercise. Not sure the Ezy Bar is suitable for that one yet, still working out grip position etc. when I watched the YouTube clip they seem to be able to touch the backs of there hands to their shoulders, in a much narrower grip than IK could manage, I had to go wider or else my left elbow screamed at me. Had a go at pendlay/barbell rows with the same 25kg ezy bar, completed but again very awkward. Could definitely feel the different loads on my back/shoulders in those movements. -

That's OK with me, technically I don't need to do 'anything' really so all of it is by choice and I'm happy to keep some leg and back work in there with a thought to balance as I mentioned. -

I'd have thought they'd both be good for my back and as I don't do any back work, and sit all day, that's not a bad thing. The only other leg work I'd be getting would be the running/walking I do which is low intensity. I'm happy to keep some leg/back stuff in there for balance. -
Balancing My Home Gym Routine

From the admittedly long winded first post. I will point out I am only interested in making sure I have a balanced routine and am pretty happy at the current weight/size - though I expect I'll gain another kg or 2 in the next few months as my leg work comes up to scratch (and that's OK) and I will add a little weight to my curls when I can manage it Just general fitness and a little strength work as I sit all day and don't have a physical job, if I did nothing I'd be even skinnier and almost useless working on the car. Admittedly I don't mind having a little bit of shape to me to look half decent. I'm also almot 30 so some of it is just keeping older age at bay. -

Not sure it would make a huge difference as I dont have much issue with the shoulder press part of the motion to get it over my head but worth a shot anyway. -

Balancing My Home Gym Routine
No Crust Racing replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Health & Wellbeing
Based on cost it looks like a rack will have to wait a little but I can do everything else on that list without one for now and just keep squat weights low as I have been. I'll be getting enough grief with the rows and the shoulder press to keep me occupied anyway as it takes me a bit of time to adapt to new exercises form wise. Will check the clip. -

Cheers guys, I might just make a big switch then and go to that routine if everyone is in agreement that it's pretty well balanced. I'll get a rack sorted than go from there. There's no chance any rack I get will go outside, I can't see why it wouldn't fit in my gym room or the aversion there seems to be to doing this so I'll move my exercise bike out and put a rack in its place. -

lol I care mate, happy wife happy life. When I met Kate I was over 90kg and she didn't really dig that, much prefers me with a more athletic build. Ultimately I would be happy around 83-85kg I think. We also have an agreement, I don't get too big, she doesn't get too skinny as she loves to run. That said, If I was 55kg, I would almost be dead so I'm sure she'd b encouraging me to bulk up a bit too! Sidebar: fking love that avatar, Jett wasn't it? -

I'm not putting it outside on my nice stenciled pergola concrete, I have a gym room, so that's what I'll work with I get what you mean about the exaggerated effect and all I really want is just to balance out the routine and be reasonably fit, strong enough to lift some heavy servers as required and work on my car without pulling up sore. Oh and burn enough calories to eat and drink what I like for the most part Yeah I get you about the 1rm thing, I never tried a 1rm when I was benching 100kg 3x10 reps but I imagine it would have been a few kg more than 100. I'm happy to drop the reps to sets of 10 but no lower as I didn't like when I got down into low low reps and you get the puffy bulk look but no definition and I'm not about to switch back and forth between building/cutting routines, I am treating this like a general fitness super circuit. I had a read about that guy on your other link, what a unit. -

Have only just started considered getting a rack Kez so I'll see what options are around for the space I have. As for your advice, you're just as entitled as anyone else to give an opinion mate You've been working hard in an environment with people who can guide you so you're bound to have some opinions and they are always welcome. That's all I'm after really, a broad range of views on what I should adjust to balance out the routine, I already had a feeling I knew what it might entail and so far it looks like I'm right. Had a quick look at that routine - what do others think of that? I'll paste it for comment. Squat 3 x 10 Bench press 3 x 8 Bent row 3 x 8 Military press 3 x 8 SLDL 3 x 8 BB curl 3 x 8 I''m comfortable saying that I've trained for long enough and have good enough muscle memory that I should be able to adapt to that program pretty easily if I wanted to, plus I'm already doing some of it. As for the numbers he quotes (bench 100kg, squat 140kg and deadlift 180kg) I wouldn't be aiming that high as I've seen myself benching 100kgs and my chest is a lot bigger than I or the missus want anymore, that said, I also know that without eating accordingly won't get huge again so it's easy enough to control. What are others thoughts on dropping reps as I'm currently doing sets of 15 as it forces me to keep the weight a bit lower (better for my aging/injured previously joints) and gives a bit more tone and muscle endurance I have found. No point in a build thread Kez, not trying to build Sidenote: top work on the gains mate, you should be looking a lot healthier now I wont have to save you from drunken girls at in Shep hey You'll be able to fend them off yourself!
