I think getting a Race Only car = winner!
-
grrr...the more i look into this the more and more options that pop up. Im starting to think that for about half my perceived initial outlay would get me onto a track with something OK. And as im starting to find out, you dont really need something significant like a GTR to get onto the track. 15K should do the trick i rekon. 10K = Car 5K = Little mods/tyres The Silvia seemed like a cheaper option, but just looking thru that J-Spec site, it seems u can get an R32 (couldnt find any 33's for that price) for about the same which would have to be a better option....yes/no? So what u think about an R32 GTS-T as a thrash box for the track??? It would surely have to be a better option than the S13 yer? Just get it here, throw a cooler/exhaust, and maybe change the turbo if it dies; and just race the damn thing. Not a big fan of upgrading anything major (unless it brakes first), which im not sure if it will. I know their gearbox's arent as good as an RB25, and yes they are a lil old....but it should be ok yer? I suppose just a lil babying on the track would prevent any major boo boo's Here are a few examples from J-Spec: http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=7831 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=5781 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=5602 hehehe...sorry for the inconveinience. I just like to consider and explore ALL possibilities before throwing my money into something which could quite possibly end up in the tyre wall As i said earlier on, i've already got an R33 but its auto, so i dont think that would be sufficient; even if i did put a shift kit, etc...

My mate is on the nova site with all them chicks...Oct 11th i think it was... He's the one with the pitty... /end my useless info today

Phunkey_Monkey, i take you owned one....Why did it make you "dead poor",LoL, are they that riddled with probs? ...surely there's exceptions out there? yes/no?
-
Thanks phunky_monkey, i did see that thread ...cheers. hrrrmmm... ....so far a Silvia is looking pretty good. Looks like you might be seeing a bit of me in a few months time.... :sorcerer: Gonna have to do a bit of research on em first for their most common probs as i havent really payed attention to them cars.... Anyone around here racing Silvia's? ...or would i be the bottom of the barrel?
-
So far im leaning towards a Silvia, due to the fact that generally its cheaper than a 180SX...Approx 7 - 12K. That leaves plenty of room for tyres, trailor, modest mods, etc... Would i still be elegable to join and race with SAU with a Silvia???
-
LoL, yer it is a dificult question! I guess im looking more at the fun factor whilst still being competitive. I've looked in the Motorsport section and browsed through 6 pages of the 15 but didnt find anything as specific....but thanx for the advice so far.... In going for a 32 GTR would it be fair to say that as they're getting old, and the likely hood of them being thrashed on a circuit is higher would it be safer to go with something else????
-
Hello all, You're gonna have to bear with me as this is gonna be a complicated question... I've been eyeing your years calender and would love to join up and get involved in some of the racing action, so i guess this question would apply to Vic members around that scene moreso.... What car to buy to get involved in some track work? -R32 GTR -R33 GTR ...or a cheap thrash box? Maybe one thats already modded -Silvia -180sx? -Any other cheapy im missing out here? I've searched around the forums and noticed that most are GTR's.... Some points to consider... -ABSOLUTE MAX budget is approx 30K <--But prefer if it wasnt! -The possibilty of an accident; hence the cheaper Silvia/180 so i wont cry! -I already have 2 cars (VR + R33 GTS-T)...so having it off the road isnt too much a prob. -Ongoing costs; running costs; modification cost; -Approx insurance costs? -Anything else im missing here? Your advice is greatly appreciated! <--hehe i love that smilie

I dont think anyone is saying a TT is harmfull champ! Sir-D, Im not sure what you want me to elaborate on? ...basically all im saying in my post is to take it easy as u approach ur destination and you wont really need a turbo timer. And my personal opinion is that if you think a TT is gonna save ya then think again. Thrashing your car then coming to a complete stop and leaving it on TT will NOT cool down the rest of your car like transmission etc...

R33 Stock Ecus (auto And Manual Any Difference)
GTR_STEALTH replied to 13thracer's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If you were to put an Auto ecu into a Manual vehicle, yes it will run. But not properly. However it may be different when it comes to Japanese cars, im not sure....so u may be correct. But as 13thracer has found, putting in the correct ecu has solved his problem. -

There is really only two things you need to consider: -Is the amp upside down? ....the way amps are designed and the position of the heat sink, they should be mounted vertically or right side up. -Is there adequate ventilation? ...as long as you have room for air to move around the amp ur fine. A third thing to consider may also be, how accessable is the controls of the amp...as you dont wanna be fiddling around.
