  1. yes they do but nothing wrong with the golf. plus the new AUDI TT just won "2006 drive car of the year" Drive
  2. From the lastest WHEELS magazine reckons the perhaps to be called R35 GTR wil have 330kw to possibly 370kw achieved at 6800RPM (there!) 3.7L V6 derived from the V35 series 3.5l V6 over 550nm of torgue at 5000rpm both 6 speed manual and 7 speed DSG will be offered to end all debates regarding its bulk, the source suggests 1690kg!
  3. yep still got them. thanks
  4. This is actually a good time to buy them second hand with the new 987 boxsters been introduced for nearly two years now there are plenty 986s on the market. and they have depreciated to a point that you wont lose much money should you decide to sell the car later. Important point to consider is try to look for a 3.2l boxster S, these are into the low 60k mark nowadays. with 185kw its performance should be similar to a turbo skyline.
  5. yeah these variable geometry turbos use a set of vanes in the exhaust housing to maintain a constant gas speed across the turbine, and the vanes are controlled by a membrane identical to the one on a wastegate so no wastegates needed. this is also the reason for they have minimal lag not because they are small.
  6. Had fungus growing out of side mirror paint.
  7. have to say AUDI B5 S4 twinturbo is on the top of my list, kinda like the german built luxury version of GTR, much potential: tough 2.7l V6 TT, strong 6 six speed, 4wd and at $40k! what more could you ask for.
  8. Interesting how 334k AUD would only buy you a standard 911 turbo in Australia!
  9. In the lastest wheels magazine, it was mentioned that Nissan is bench marking the new GTR against the 997 Turbo. The 911 turbo redlines at 6750rpm, weighs around 1580kg and laps the 'ring in 7minutes, 40 seconds. Nissan is aiming to beat that time.
  10. This right here is my favorite, of all time.
  11. i believe itis compatible with the factory fuel system, with larger throttle body too. best to pm the guy. cheers
  12. A lot of French influence?
  13. I do like this porsche, what are its specs? The body modifications looks more integrated than the TechArt 997, which looks more like add-ons if you know what i mean.
  14. Incorrect, Ruf is actually an independent car maker who builds complete new cars from bare chassis(based on Porsches). Unlike TechArt, speedArt or Hamann, they are aftermarket tunners for Porsche cars. RUF sells complete new cars with warranty, like these:http://www.ruf-automobile.de/content.php?seite=seiten/modelle_neuwagen.php
  15. no, not at the moment, still waiting to get new rims and tyres.
  16. theres a guy on the forum user name: 600hp who makes custom plenums for R34 GTT. very good quality and price, flow more/better than most jap name brands I was told. just send him a pm. cheers
  17. Thought Best Motoring had a similar test in the past (911 turbo vs tuned GTR) Any idea how much a Mines GTR costs? Not 200,000 euros I'm sure!
  18. not really a valid comparison in this case.
  19. headlights are little weird but the whole proportion looks mean, definitely one of the better looking mercedes at the moment.
  20. yes true, a nismo GTR or mines GTR would be a better comparison. but there are much similarities between the 997 Turbo and new GTR. 3.6l flat six versus (rumoured) 3.6-3.8 V six, both rev to about 7000rpm as opposed to previous GTRs higher rew limiter, weight is not dissimilar either at 1600kg give or take, and of course twin turbo and 4wd.
  21. 225mph! outrunning it is not on your list of options
  22. youre right, at the moment 3 series sold worldwide are made in south africa, except 3 series sold in china are made in china, but bmw will eventually shift all 3 series prodution to their chinese plants as business grows.
  23. ugly it is, I agree (the designer obviously had no artistic sense) but no need to ridicule "made in china". Not every cars made in china are ugly or cheap. BMW 3 series and AUDI A6 and A4 's are made in china(sold there too), VW Polos sold in Australia are made in china, and even some Mercedes Benzs are going to be made in china.
  24. if you look at the current german aftermarket tunning scene, every major tuners all seem to have a few white colour based project cars, whereas a couple of year ago black or silver was THE colour.
  25. http://www.worldcarfans.com/tuners.cfm/cou...ore-information Don't know if you are into porsches, but I can't stop drooling over this thing! It was said that Nissan is bench marking the new GTR against the 997 turbo, although this one is a bit more extreme than the standard one, it should give you some ideas of how good the new GTR need to be. Heres some stats:Displacement 3,600 cm³ Bore x stroke 100 x 76.4 mm Max. power 580 hp / 427 kW at 6,000 rpm Max. torque 700 Nm at 4,850 rpm (from 3,200 – 6,000 rpm permanently more than 670 Nm) Max. boost 1.2 bar Max. revs 7,100 rpm Power output per liter 161.11 hp per liter capacity and what do you think of the colour? white is the new black?
