Well it's always good to have a go yourself Just remember the first rule of painting....... Preperation is crucial !! Always drink immense quantities of beer while preping !!

Why not the Impreza ?? Also, I know that the IS200 & 318is are slow but there's not much out there that won't feel slow after 300rwhp.....
-
OK, I've narrowed it down to the following ( reluctantly ). : In this order... 1. 02 Scubydoo Impressa RX 2.5L sedan 2. 99 Luxo IS200 3. still considering 98 318is So, what would YOU buy and why ??? I'm feeling pretty lost at this point. I've owned a Nissan Skyline ( MR30, HR31 & HCR32 ) for like 12 years now so it's a big leap for me.

Here's some pics of some of the tasty new parts that were very recently fitted.

I've painted a set of wheels myself in the past and they turned out nice but they looked pretty average after about 3 months. You just can't get the same results with a pressure pack can as you can getting a proper job done IMHO. Just got my R32 GT-R wheels done properly by a spray painter and they look like a better job than what I did straight away. Cost was $260 for 4 wheels.

After a LOT of soul searching I've decided to put my baby out there for sale. Going to need something more practical for the future ( something G/F can drive and something more family oriented ). Anyway, here's the car......... It's a 1990 R32 GTS-t Type M "Personal Import" Being a Personal import it retains the original Jap Seatbelts, No Guard mounted indicators are required, No Petrol Filler Neck Restrictor is required, No Side Intrusion Bars are required and No Instrument Light Dimmer is required. So, it is the way it was meant to be ! This car was built up to avoid attention but do everything performance wise very well ( aka Sleeper ). The car is straight and very clean ( anyone from this forum who's seen it will attest to this ). There are NO oil leaks. The paint is good but not perfect and that's kinda how I like it ( car draws very little attention ). Engine; - Complete Engine Rebuild - Complete Strip and Chemical Clean - Balanced Bottom End - AIRIAS Forged Pistons ( 40 thou oversized ) - Head Ported & Polished & Match Ported to Manifolds - All Studs replaced - All Welsh Plugs Replaced - Oil & Water Pumps Replaced - Cam Belt and Idler Bearings Replaced - 9L HIGH ENERGY Sump - New Engine Mounts Engine was built and is tuned for reliability at around 200rwkw all day, every day. Rego; Registered until Dec 06 All modifications are Engineer Approved ( Engineering Certificate will go with car ). Actual kms are 161,XXXkm but shows 193,XXXkm since the NISMO Speedo already had kms on it when I bought it. But it all means nothing anyway since almost everything has been refurbished. This car get's serviced regularly and completely by me ( I'm a Mechanic ) so I know it's been done, and done right. Car owes me WELL OVER $25,000 ( have a 2 inch thick folder full of receipts ) Price: $18,500 ono. Now $17,000 firm ( refer to post #16 for conditions ) NO dreamers / tyres kickers PLEASE. PM me if interested. Interested in trade for R34 GTS ( N/A ) Manual 4 Door. At least this way I can still have a Skyline that I can't modify too much ( G/F has to be able to drive it ) and car can stay on when we become a family. NOTE: If you want to test drive it bring a $500 deposit ( otherwise I'll take you for a drive).

Yeah but you got to go on a cruise, eat and DRINK as much as you wanted and no chance of DUI Just an FYI, when you guys pulled out of the BP on the way home ( just before Winsor ) you were all being watched by the boys in blue !! Back down the road about 50 meters on the other side was a marked car that sat there watching us all at the servo. When you all took off ( I was still talking on the mobile ) I saw him pull out and follow you all into town. He prol would have been upset. All those turbo cars and nobody doing anything wrong So how much fuel did everyone use ? I'm pretty surprised since I got to 415kms before I re-filled ( and the gauge was between 1/4 and empty ). Thought that was pretty good considering all the on / off boost.

Winmax Brake Pads
TokyoTaxi replied to hicas_posse's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I had Winmax Pads in the front of my 32 ( but I don't know which model they were ). After they were bedded in properly they would squeel for about the first 3 brake applications and then go dead quiet. The only time they didn't stop squeeling was when I was in the snow. -
As boring as to look at......but it's mine ( although it'll be for sale soon so maybe not mine for much longer )

Maybe I don't want a BMW if it makes you drive like this...... http://www.break.com/index/crazydriver11.html

The thing I found that works really well is Motorcycle Chain Lube. Get one of those little extention tube things ( that usually are stuck in the lid of the degreaser cans ) to get some reach. It sprays on as a foam, and then quickly liquifies and runs into all the little nooks and crannys. Once it soaks in, give it a bit more and then run the pedal through it's paces. WARNING !! Chain Lube is mega sticky stuff ( has to be to stay on a bike chain at a zillion revs ) so put some old towels all around the footwell area so none gets on your carpet and cover your pedal pads.

Kinda hard to forget !! It was like watching a mouse devour a horse Cheers for the heads up on your mate. That should work out well since I need a bit more time now to do some more research and finish a few things off on the Line.
-
Valid point Ben !! Me thinks a bit more homework is required..........
-
OK, so I need to go test drive a 318 now to see how bad it really is ( since you have all convinced me that the 318 is going to throw me into suicidal depths of depression the first time I plant the throttle ). Then I'll have to do some replacement part investigations to see how bad it really is ( not worrying about servicing costs since I do all my own service work ). Again, a 320 or 325 would be nice but too expensive Senator ( Ford/Holden/Mistu etc )....... I just can't do it !! If it was a company car I'd be OK but it's not something I would buy. One day in the future I may end up being a dad. THEN I will hang my head and buy a 4 door. Sure, you can call it a mid-life crisis if you want Wil, I don't know what to say except BRAVO !! You have a g/f who owns her own Skyline and is willing to drive you around......... My hat's off to you
-
O.M.G. !!! Have you seen how many Skylines are for sale ?!?!?!?!?!? Just checked on carsales.com.au and there's 100's of Skylines for sale !!! Selling my 32 just got a whole lot more painfull !!!
-
Gave this a thought too but the LS400's are getting pretty old now. Getting too close to needing major work. On the Toyota subject though, maybe a non-turbo Supra is worth consideration.............
-
Hi Wil ! Yeah I remember you ( That was fun last year !! ) Unfortunately, I HATE front wheel drive cars ! I'm just not a FWD person Oh and could you imagine the "V-Tech YO" jokes I'd have to put up with............ But Thanks for the thought You coming on the next Putty Rd cruise ?
-
Gave this A LOT of thought but they're still too expensive.
-
I've got to say, the more I talk to people, the more I get talked into moving up one rung and into the 320ci. Just wish I had a bit more money to play with ( sits and thinks about all the money thrown at the Skyline....... ). Thanks for the reminder on the oil issue with BMW's. Yeah that's one I remember from the days when I used to work on them. They need the right amount of clean / correct oil or things get expensive fast ( same as a Skyline I guess )
-
I hear you Ryan, but I'm comparing the BMW to the Skyline as far as repair cost and insurance are concerned. Neither is cheap to insure or repair but the BMW is less likely to need constant attention IMO. I know that if I was smarter, I would have left the 32 95% standard and I would have been a lot better off but that's in the past now.
