Early Or Late R32? How To Tell?
The Baron replied to Full-Race Geoff's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Isn't there a little cloth tag on the seatbelt which tells you the year ?? -
R32 Gtr Compliance?
The Baron replied to Meiji's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I'd be interested in hearing about your experience when it's done as I'm looking at importing an R-32 GT-R as well. PM if you'd like Cheers -
Not sure how up to date everyone is, but there is a big article in today's edition of 'John Mellor's Auto News' - a car industry periodical - which states that Nissan has confirmed that the new GT-R will be coming to Australia in early 2008. It's the first official statement I've come across on the subject and seems very definite - Now all I have to do is find the $150,000+ to afford it

The Best Advertise On Billboard I've Ever Seen!
The Baron replied to West's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Myeeh Got more points then Ford, Nissan, Holden, Mazda or Mitsubishi have scored in Formula 1 recently and those are the only competitors in the Australian market place ;-) Also makes sense if you are advertising a 6 cylinder to differentiate yourself from the others (and it's a lot better then the 'Camry Chicken' or 'Dame Edna' - what were they on ??) Sure the Aurion won't be my first choice (that'll be the Skyline ;-) but heck I really enjoyed my Corolla Sportivo and will be sad when it goes next week to be replaced by a Yaris (Fear my 1.3 litres of FURY !!!! ;-) -
The Best Advertise On Billboard I've Ever Seen!
The Baron replied to West's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I work for the 'Big T' and I didn't know that they were apparently only up in Melbourne.... must have been for the 'Grand Prix' As for the comment that they haven't won anything yet - the 'tag line' cleverly avoids that by saying "We Race, We Learn - You Win" I agree though - excellent ad - to quote another Victorian "Stuck it right up'em" -
what's the story with the bonnet ?? Just not closed properly in the pictures ??

Ah the joy of dealing with banks and home loans...... The good news is - once you're in you generally stay in and anything subsequent comes a lot easier Have fun with the move and - no doubt - the renovations ;-)

Another neat feature mentioned previously is the removable Steering Wheel - an almost immediate a visble deterrent. But yeah, immobiliser, alarm and kill switch as a minimum. Oh and sticker that says "This car protected by Smith & Wesson" ;-)

Thought I'd post here if someone is interested and does not already know. I've been looking at Mark Hocking sourcing an R32 GT-R for me in Japan in the near future (once my house is finished) Unfortunately there is still a lot of work on the house so I can't follow up on this email I've received this morning but I thought someone may want to follow it up It sounds good and Mark has an excellent reputation. I am sure he wouldn't mind me publicising this here so the car can find a good home ;-) Hi Andreas, Hope the house is coming along OK. Let me know when you are ready to start looking or if you need more information. A dealer I know very well rang me yesterday offering me a 1 owner white 94 R32 Skyline GTR with a gen. 35,000 kms for around 1.8 million yen. Let me know if you would like me to find out more. Spacesavers For The Sake Of Saving Money?
The Baron replied to Decepticon's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The reason for the space saver is that you had to have a spare wheel to get the design certified for road compliance - hence they went for the smallest one they could find. It took years for Mercedes to get the 'no spare wheel; thing through as they have on their SLK - which comes with one of those 'repair in a can' things I believe. Just another example of regulations not keeping up with technology. -
Well a Mach 5 ' Auroroa' probably has a fair run-out

Ever since the 'Oils' signed off there hasn't been good Aussie music worth talking about and unfortunately German Punk music has never really taken off in this country (Gott knows why) Thankfully we have the internet to supply all required music

I still have to build my GT-R 32 with the Gibson Racing Team colours from their first Bathurst.....

Stolen/recovered: R33 Nissan Skyline R33 Gtr
The Baron replied to MRMADAZ's topic in General Automotive Discussion
This is the third time in recent months that I've read such a tragic story. While I really feel for anyone who loses their loved car I cannot but reemphasise: GET F#$#%^G INSURANCE !!!! If you can't afford the insurance - you shouldn't have the car !!!! Sorry to be blunt - but really..... how many more times will we hear this story. Anyhow - Good luck with the recovery (I really mean that) -
Bit different to the 1962 Morris Minor I had as my Wedding car Well done, looks awesome and welcoime to the "ball and chain" club

The Baron replied to gexenon's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Ha I've actually sat in your car then- I saw it at JSA and was asking whether it was For Sale or Not. I didn't realise they were doing the compliance work. Nice ride -
Finally Getting My Gtr Next Thursday!
The Baron replied to gexenon's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Congratulations ;-) I see you are from Melbourne - may I ask where you got compliancing done as I'm thinking of bringing an R-32 to Melbourne myself. Also what was the compliance cost for the V-Spec (as this is also the model I am looking at) You can PM me if you'd like -
Not so much the SR-71 but the YF-12A (?) - the nuclear armed interceptor version of the Blackbird. Interior weapons bay with 4 unguided nuclear tipped Air to Air missiles (to break up Russian bomber packs over Alaska) You just have to love a plane that leaks fuel all over the runway because it's surface is not expanded enough by friction heat to seal them until it hits Mach 3 :-)

I remember a Mig 25 defected to Japan. They had to return it to Russia but not after a rigorous 'Customs Inspection' undertaken by the remarkably American looking Japanese Customs Service You must all be too young to remember the old F4 - Phantom. Nothing like seeing a pair of those coming up the River Valley to take out the local bridge across the Weser - trailing an enormous amount of smoke and sounding like a Banshee. That was growing up in Germany in the late 70's - early 80's. Heck I even remember the the F104 - Starfighter

My monthly check of the DOTARS page for R-32 RAW's in victoria has finally responded with an entry. Imported Vehicle Compliance Centre - Roxburgh Park Has anyone heard of them before ?? Any feedback appreciated Cheers
