Really bad news for you I hope they find the S O B's who did this and recover your car. As advice I would suggest to others, that apart from an alarm and immobiliser (done by two independent companies) consider also putting in a 'kill switch' Any competent auto electrician can do this. Maybe we can even put a 'sticky' somewhere on the forums that explains the basic process -without detailing locations

I have it on some authority that many of these "4 Sale" stickers are just coded invites for street racing..... Any truth to this ??

R33's First Day At School
The Baron replied to Michael_1882's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Back in '88 when I was finishing VCE I was the only kid with a licence (I was half a year older then most kids due to a dicrepancy between german and australian school years ;-) So for one brief half year I was the coolest kid in class with the aid of my Dad's Landcruiser (wipes nostalgic tear from corner of eye) The young ones - they grow up so fast now -
Bnr32 Gt-r, Highly Modified

I hope this means it has found a good new home However, in the event it has not, I may send you a PM in a couple of months and see whether it might be back -

Hey - who knew the pictures had a zoom function ;-) Changing my vote to Volvo - horizontal grille, sweden number plate, weird headrests..... -
Bnr32 Gt-r, Highly Modified

A magnificent example - why couldn't you have waited another couple of months before making your decision to sell. Good luck with it nonetheless - it's what I'll want later in the year ;-) -
Took Some Spyshots Of A New Car!

Could be the new Aussie Camry - it has a 'bangle butt' and will be built as LHD for export -
Doesn't cover much. I get choice of doctor in emergencies and small rebates for most doctors stuff (though not much dental) I still use a 'bulk billing' doctor for most of my general medical things (Cold and flu, get a medical certificate for work etc) So realistically I don't get very much back from them at the end of the day As I said I mainly do it for 'future proofing' and because I'd just have to pay extra tax
-
Okay, I have Private Medical Insurance but basically have gone for the cheapest cover I could find (Medibank Private) Why ??? -well I would have to pay extra tax if I didn't have it and personally I want to make sure I'm in the 'system' when I need to upgrade my cover in later life. Basically the way it works now is that you will have to pay extra premiums if you join Private Health Insurance later in life - think of it as a 'no claims' discount. Anyhow I reckon we are more then likely heading down the road to an American style Healthcare system so I am just making sure ;-) Cost for a 36 year old non-smoker is about $80 per month. Hope this helps....

Get Insurance !!!!! Seriously - if you have a GT-R you should have insurance, for your sake and for everyone else's You'll sleep easier too If you can't afford it - then ask yourself why you are owning a GT-R in the first place.

Having attended last year, entry is available on the day at the gate. If you haven't been before it should be noted that access to "Horrible Haggis's" farm is via dirt road and parking is on the cow paddock (cow pads included ;-) so be aware of any ride height issues. Also remeber your 'Aerogard' and a large bottle of milk (best for soothing the chilli feeling ;-)

What Five Cars Would You Want In Your Garage?
The Baron replied to geno8r's topic in General Automotive Discussion
1.) R32-GT-R - it's the one I like the most ;-) 2.) M5 - Daily driver 3.) Veyron - the ultimate 4.) BMW 3.0CSL - the classic 5.) 1962 Morris Minor - we are not allowed to get rid of it - it's the Missus' car ;-) -
How To Afford Your Skyline?
The Baron replied to Boostkid's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Environmental engineer - totally incompatible with wanting to own a GT-R (I'll put it on 'Greenfleet' ;-) Has taken many years of overtime and this year will be the year :-) -
Think Your Car Is Fast? This Is Faster!
The Baron replied to Big Rizza's topic in General Automotive Discussion
So what's the top speed of the thing ?? After all, air resistance builds exponentially so I'd be interested whether this thing could beat a Veyron (My guess - No - after all it's just a series produced Hot-Rod ;-) And if you want 'power and torque' you can always chuck a Rolls Royce Merlin into a 55Chev to get the world's most powerful road registered car http://www.the-rumbler.com/sydney2k3-1.html http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/Tig/Minisit...pointau&id=6792 -
"Your ego is writing cheques your body can't cash" Seriously - driving requires a lot of practice and yeah it depends on how you approach it but from your comments on here I suggest you get a 'Trabant' as your first car
-
Oh to be young again.... My first car was a brand new Lancer coupe GLXi - After driving it for two weeks I had accumulated 6 points !!! My advice - get yourself a nice reliable and cheap manual car - like the Corolla. It will teach you much about driving and won't get you into a lot of trouble, nor be too expensive to run. Then save Then in 2 or 3 years - when you are more comfortable at handling a car you can consider upgrading. You'll have an easier time getting insurance and finance etc etc. If you go high hp now you will in all likelihood smash the car anyway as driver education in this country teaches you f#ck all (I learned that after rolling my second car - a Bimmer - into a ditch on a shitty country road in the middle of the night ;-) So - as hard as it seems - and in line with previous comments - hasten slowly :-) PS Am now 36 and only now consider myself worthy of buying a GT-R ;-)
-
Whoa - huge flamage over something that's completely voluntary ;-) As a side note - as quoted earlier - I'd have no hesitation in using e5 blended fuel such as Optimax 100 (though I probably wouldn't pay extra ;-)
-
I noticed on the DOTARS website that there are no RAW's for R-32 compliance in Victoria. Does anybody know whether we are likely to get someone down here (I heard that J-Spec were dealing with a workshop on the subject....) and if so - who and when they would be operational ??

Why So Hard To Sell A Skyline?
The Baron replied to Spiderman's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" To me that means an R-32 - to others an R-33 - whatever floats your boat. Just don't slag somebody else for their tastes (sounds utopian doesn't it ;-) -
Take the 12 months - it'll teach you to be a better driver. I had to hold my load for 12 moths once (couldn't lose the licence - would have meant the job) and it really teaches you to be very aware of the road and road rules. Consequently I have accrued very very few points since that time. Definitely a learning experience :-)

Would not be caught dead in a Falcon - any Falcon. In Germany we say: "Ford fahren - nach Hause laufen" Roughly translates as: "Drive forth (Ford) - walk home" Sums up my experiences of the blue oval :-)

Shannons Insurance Just Keeps On Getting Better!
The Baron replied to Merli's topic in General Automotive Discussion
"Shannon's" get's my vote for the best out there. Okay so I have only gotten a quote so far for the GT-R but the '62' Morris has been with them for over a decade and we've never had any complaints. Heck - they even offer a discount for multiple cars (knew the Morris was good for something) Oh and it does help if you are an enthusiast and member of a car club
