  1. RB25DET motor..... Are there specific clearences between the hyd lifters and the cam lobes when installing?? If so, how do you adjust?? I don't think there are any clearences for these but I could be wrong..

  3. Hi all, I've rebuilt my engine and it has been running like a dream. I've done about 13,000kms and it goes hard but over the last 2,000kms, it has started to tap when I start up cold. The tapping eventually goes away but the engine has to be right up to temp before it completely goes away.. Once the intial tap goes away when cold.. once it starts to warm up, it only does it as the rev needle passes the 2grand mark on the tacho!! When I rebuilt the engine, I didn't have the money to replace the hyd lifters, so I got a pro to pull them apart and bleed them, etc... basically a recon.. I'm thinking that the lifters are the caus but I had to replace the exhuast cam about 10,000kms ago due to a siezed CAS which inturn snapped the end of the cam tip off.. anyway, could it be a worn cam lobe?? Any help would be great.. Thanks guys

Brand new HYBRID intercooler kit to suit R33 Skyline. $650 HYBRID GT Spec Super Intercooler (600X300X80) All chrome piping All the fittings, bolts, collers, brackets, etc are still in bags. Instruction manual on how to bolt on intercooler kit This is a bolt on kit. The intercooler is huge and all parts are of top quality. Anyone who knows their intercoolers would know that HYBRID sells a great product. I brought this kit a few months ago with all intensions of fitting it to my car but have recently struck some finacial difficulties and I've been forced to sell the kit. I really don't want to but these things happpen. Everything still has the boxes they came in so shipping isn't a problem. Check out the pictures, everything is brand new, untouched.
  5. Mate.. It is a possibility that you have cracked one of your spark plugs when putting them in. This can happen when you use the socket over the spark plug and tilt it on an angle, therefore putting pressure on the top of the spark plug and cracking it.. check them all for small cracks... look carefully, it doesn't take much. I had the same problem with my car and I had 3 cracked plugs... Mine was missing up higher in the rev range but just thought I'd let you know anyway, might be worth checking. Goodluck!
  6. just a recon head with a slight shave to bring the comp up a bit... new lifters... Wanted to port the head but didn't have the extra cash at the time.... I am getting an after market ECU, fuel injectors, and fuel pump soon and then want to bump up the booost a bit.. Would like a reliable 250rwkws AT LEAST.... I would eventually like 300rwkws but just creepin up there slowely.. will probably have to change the cams before that happens.... maybe the turbo as well...

  8. Hi all... could anybody help me out... I need an aftermarket front bar to suit my Hybrid fron mount intercooler... Does anybody know where I can go to get one in Victortia? Any help would be appriciated.... Thanks....
  9. That's all good mate but how big was your intercooler? mines huge and I've looked at it and can't see how I can fit this thing!!!! Is it possible to cut the steel part where the front bar goes....? across the front? Or is that a load bearing part of the car...?

  12. Hi all.. I'm currently trying to fit a front mount intercooler to my R33 with the standard series 1 front bar. I'm getting there but I think I'm going to have to take the thermo fan out to fit it in... Does anybody know how much these things kick in and will my engine run cool enough without it? I think it should be ok but just want to see if anybody has taken theirs off??
  13. Hi mate... in answer to your question.. I built the engine myself but got the machining done by pro's.. All up I spent about $7,000 and I did put heavy duty parts in because I'm aiming to get 300 at the wheels. After I had run the engine in.. I had it dynoed and running about 9PSI with stock intercooler, I got 176kw at wheels... not bad I thought.. I've now brought a Hybrid front mount and will soon buy an aftermarket ECU, then I will probably run 15 - 20 PSI through it and see how much power I get then... I did post up a thread here a few months back on my entire rebuild.. I can't remember what I called it but search and you might have soome luck...
  14. Hi mate.. Please don't take offence to my comments but you are shoooting yourself in the foot doing what you are doing! I see too many people like yourself who bolt on all this great stuff but they expect the standard engine to deal with it all... it just won't happen... It makes much more sense to concentrate on building up the engine first to handle the power, then bolt on all the good stuff to finish it off.. 300kw at the wheels with stock internals.... I think you'll be walking around with your car in the garage with a blown motor before long... Sorry if I'm being a bit blunt here but I'm just giving you a heads up because I've seen it happen all too often before... My advice... keep it mild until you can afford to build up your engine... Up to you though... goodluck!!!
  15. Hi mate.. I've just finished rebuilding my RB25DET engine. I've now done 7,000kms and haven't had any major problems (touch wood!) While the engine is apart, I would change your water pump (about $40-$50), def change the thermostat (under $50)... you could do the oil pump if you wanted to, I didn't though... You gonna change your clutch while it's all apart? I think it was called the 'thrust bearing'.... replace that... aparently the 'piolt bush' should be replaced as well... Are you going to build the engine yourself? If you've got any questions... just ask me.. I'd be more then happy to help.. I've been there and done that so fire away with any questions you have and I'll do my best to guide you in the right direction.
  16. Hi all, This might sound like a stupid question to some but how can you tell the difference between a series 1 motor and a series 2 motor (R33 - RB25DET)???? I was told by someone that the air intake pipes take a different path... Ya?? PS.... just by looking at it??
  17. Hi mate... I've just rebuilt my RB25DET with some forgies, etc.. basically strengthened the motor for max boost... I high flowed the turbo but everything else (Ecu) is standard. Depending on how I drive.. I will get anywhere from 380 - 430 km out of a full tank.... It runs fine but I reckon if I got it tuned, I'd prob get about 450kms out of a full tank..
  18. Very nice... They are in VIC yeah? What sort of power are you getting?? I haven't done a dyno run yet.. gonna wait until I change the ECU.... Do you know how much a set of injectors will cost me?? What do you have?
  19. All I know is that it consists of 5% ethanol and has a 100 RON rating. I paid 140.9 p/ltr the other day!! What you mean it comes down to tuning mate? If I can use bp ultimate 98 and get a better run out of it, why would I use the extreme and tune my car to it? Is that what your getting at?
  20. Mate, I know a place called "Nissbits" in Ringwood. He has an R33, whole car.... with an RB25DE motor in it... it's a 4 door.... the motor has only done 29,000kms.... What exactly are you after???? motor?
  21. Nice one... What did you have done though?? Forgies?? Did you have the block square decked, bored and honed... all the parts balanced.. shot peened rods, crack tested, etc... I spent 1400 just on that and about another 700 on the head.. I'm curious as to what you had done on yours..... sounds like a good price, I was told to get what I wanted done, was going to cost me at least 10G.... Where did you go?
  22. Thats interesting mate... I'm not going to use it again, I'm quite happy using the BP ultimate and the Mobil synergy fuel... Those fuels are great and I seem to have a smoother engine with those fuels! Good to know.... So, anyone else experienced this?? It's so damn expensive as well! I wonder if the ethanol is bad for our engines???

What do you think about that price? Good? Bad? I think it would have cost me a lot more to get a pro to do it for me......
  24. Hi all... I was wondering how many of you have tried using the Shell Optimax Extreme fuel?? I put it in the other day and I have to say I don't like it at all... My car seems a bit slugish in the higher rev range. I've been told that this fuel is a denser fuel and one of my friends had the same problem with his problem.... What are your thoughts?? Yay or Nay?
