  1. dude, you will never sell an R32 gts-t for over 20g's!! You have to be realistic... i know you've probably spent a lot of money on it but I don't think it will happen.. I spent 40g's on a car about 5 years ago and got $15g's for it... I wish you luck and good luck with the bubs mate... i hope you do get what you are after.... I just don't like your chances...
  2. Cool, i'm glad you understood what I was trying to say... :-) Um.... to be honest, I don't know much about the NA R33's but if you like the car then go for it! I'm sure the RB25DE will still go alright and I'd personnaly get the manual.... Honestly, you don't really wanna get a turbs right now, I know you'd love one because we all do but it depends on how confident you are... they are fun to drive but like we have already said, keep in mind, you insurance! You will pay through the nose for insurance at your age and to be honest, I can only think of 2 places that MIGHT insure you... Shannons and Just cars... Even then, they might not... I may be wrong so if anybody else knows anyone else then speak now... You could be paying thousands per year for insurance mate... It gets very expensive and your excess if you have an accident, would probably be over $1000!! i'm not trying to scare you away from turbos mate, I actually recommend getting one eventually but just keep what I have said in mind.. I hope I have been of some help.. it sucks being young sometimes but we all go through it unfortunately... Has that helped at all?
  3. thanks for your input mate but i think I'm about to blow your possible theory out the window because my exhaust isn't standard and doesn't actually touch or bolt to the tranny at all. is that what your talking about? Just trying to clarify because what you say about the clutch makes sense but if that isn't balanced properly, then where else could the vibration be coming from? Thanks again, if you have any other ideas, let me know.. I want to solve this problem but if I'm going to drop the gearbox, then I want to make sure I'm not wasting my time... I know it's guess work... sucks... I actually had my clutch balanced after I brought it from the same place that balanced my other parts.... I hope I've put it all back together properly and there isn't a bolt shaking loose!!! I tourqued the bolts up to spec so they should be fine....
  4. Hi mate, I would probably say that because of your lack of driving experience, it would be a better idea to get a non turbo car as you did suggest... I mean no dis-respect here but you probably don't have a lot of experience and if you're at an age where your parents still have an input on what you get (ie, must have airbag, etc) then i think you had better go down the safer track for now and get a NA car. You can always get a turbo car as a next car. i know I sound like an old fuddy duddy (well I am 28) but I have been there and done that and you are talking about wanting to learn how to drift etc when you should be getting some road experience with you first. I mean, you'd have to drive and get used to a turbo car before you even start learning how to drift...... I get out there and drift sometimes and it is heaps of fun but you need to know your car. Have you driven a turbo car before? You could quite easily kill yourself, I'm sure the guys on here will back me up when I say that you should never underestimate the power of a turbo when coming on boost... Mate, I love the R33 turbos as I also have one and I know what your going through because i went through exactly the same thing... My advise, get something that looks good and still goes alright, keep your insurance costs down by getting a non turbo car and save your pennies for a year or two down the track when you have the experience and money to get yourself something nice like an R34 turbs.... or whatever you like... Up to you at the end of the day but there's my 2 cents worth... Goodluck with your decision!! :-)
  5. I'll better that. I've got a full set of lifters for you that have only done about 10,000 since been bled. I took them out and replaced them because I thought they were causing my tapping problem but it turns out it was a worn spring so the lifters are fine and I now have two sets! $200 + delivery!! Let me know..... Mb: 0411021673
  6. Mate, i'm no expert here but it sounds like you got a little ripped off! They reckon $4000 for a rebuild?? What the hell are they putting in it??
  7. I hate people that slow right down on a freeway to have a look at a small car accident on the emergency lane!! All the lanes are open and free but they insist on slowing right down to have a sticky beak and then traffic banks up for kms!! What gets my goat is why traffic comes to a stand stilll on a 3-4 lane freeway!! There are no FU*C%KING traffic lights!!! Why does it come to a complete stop?!?!?!! There is no excuse!! Ohh yeah, I also hate try hards in their TR Magnas and lancers with there budget $300 exhuasts who think that they have a sports car!! I mean, come on.... get a life!! and get a real car!
  8. Actually, I just had a thought, you mentioned the tail shaft IN RELATION to the diff?? I didn't actually take the tail shaft out at all.. I just slid it out when I took the tranny out... does it matter how the tail shaft goes into the tranny??
  9. Hi All, I also have an Exedy clutch and i'm experiencing the same problem!! Such a pain... I think i will try taking the tail shaft out and rotating it 180 degrees and see what happens... Has anybody else tried this? come on guys, let put our heads together and try different things and see if we can get rid of this vibration.... If anybody happens to have any success, please let us know....
  10. Hi again, thanks, I'll check it out.... just quickly, you mentioned that you have that cricket noise? I also have that but I did replace my thrust bearing... it's freakin weird... would you believe that I couldn't get the input bearing out!! That's probably what it is... dunno.... if you have any luck finding out what your vibration noise is, lemme know... I'll do that same... I'm starting to think it's a balancing or timing issue.... Cheers....
  11. I have to agree with the others, you don't want to strip the engine down (which you'll have to do to change the rings), and only do the rings.. ! That'd be a waste.... I would NEVER replace just the rings, how are you going to know that your bores are ok... When the bores are bored and honed, I believe they put this crosss hatch type pattern into the bore so it files the new rings down a bit to help them bed in. This to me is a critical part of bedding in new rings. This is just my opinion but I have just rebuilt my own engine myself, I got the block professionally done and while they were doing there thing, they found 4 cracks in the block. They fixed the problem but this is a prime example as to why you should never just strip a block down to change rings.. Get it checked while it's apart. Keeping in mind that if you get your block bored, you'll need to buy oversized pistons... then you need to know if it's been bored before. Get them to measure your bores because you'll need to know what size pistons to get.. I'm guessing it hasn't been rebuilt before so probably go for 20 thou oversize... Anyway, that is just the tip of the iceberg mate. You really need to do your homework, it's not just a matter of saying, "I want to change my rings". I've learnt so much rebuilding my engine so if you want to ask me for anything, I will do my best to answer them and help you out... I don't pretend to know everything but please take into consideration what I have said.. GOOD LUCK!! :-)
  12. hhmmm..... very interesting. I can't see why our Exedy clutch's would caus this. I had everything balanced and I tourqued everything up to spec... very weird... This is killing me here... It has to be the drivetrain, surely... Another question for you, do you get any other weird noises that seem to be clutch or tranny related?? Like a bit of a low pitch whining noise on idle? My car runs like a dream but these noises really bug me... If there is anybody out there who had the same problem, expecially if you have an Exedy clutch, please let me know... this is an issue and it needs to be sorted..
  13. Hi all, Got an R33 Turbs... I've rebuilt the engine and put in an Exedy clutch, etc... forgies and all the rest of it... the problem I'm having is at between 1500rpm and about 1800rpm under a bit of load, I get this nasty vibration that shakes through my car. I can feel it on my foot but not so much through the gear stick. It the same noise that you would get if you had 2-3 heat shields all loose!! I've been told things like, timing, drive shaft needs balancing, etc.. I've checked every freakin nut and bolt and can't see anything loose! Any ideas????
  14. Thanks for the info... I will top it up but I suspect it will need some major attention sometime soon... Cheerrs
  15. Yeah, that's what I was thinking but I know I only have about 3 litres of fluid in there atm...
  16. Got a manual RB25DET... Can having a LACK of trans fluid in the box caus the gears to grind???
  17. Hi all, I've got an R33 RB25DET manual.. My 2nd gear grinds and in high speeds, my other gears grind also... I'm guessing that the syncro's have almost gone.. 1) Does anybody know if this is what's wrong with it (the syncro's) 2) does anybody know anybody good in VIC that will recon my trans?? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks,
  18. Thanks but I want to do the complete front... I want the bonnet and I have a feeling that other parts have to be replaced to do this...

  20. Hi all, I have an R33 S1 that I absolutely love... I have rebuilt the engine, etc so I don't want to get rid of it but I really love the look of the R333 S2 front! My question is... How hard or easy is it to convert the fron part of my body to the S2 front? I just love the S2 front, it's shaper and more defined.. I'd love the bonnet, front bar, etc... Anybody know any info about doing this?
  21. Hi all, I've recently rebuilt my engine and replaced the hydraulic lifters because I thought they were causing the tapping on cold start but it turns out one of my springs was stuffed so I've got a good set of lifters for someone with an RB25DET engine! They may fit other engines but not sure I have had them sitting in oil since they were out of the engine so they have been looked after. Anybody interested let me know, Sale price: $200 Lifters have done 109,000kms... Mb: 0411 021 673 Email: [email protected]
  22. Hi mate... Is this still for sale and if so, will it slide up into an R33 BR25DET?
  23. Guys, I've got an R33. I've just rebuilt the engine and it drives great but I had the same problem with my oil pressure guage all over the place but it wasn't the gauge, it's the oil pressure sender under the bonnet near your oil filter.. get that changed... it only cost me 50 for the replacement part from another car... cheap fix.
  24. I understand what you're getting at but I've been using the same oil as soon as I caqme off of the running in oil.... It's the Motul 4100 Turbo light.... good stuff, I don't think it's the oil.... When I'm warming up the car and the needle is pretty much at operating temp (2/3 of the way up), the idle knock goes away but it will still do it right on 2 grand, but won't tap either side of it.. I do have forgies, could it be piston slap? I've never experienced piston slap so I'm not sure what it's supposed to sound like....
  25. Just getting tapping when cold but engine is only 13,000kms old... Same springs and recond hyd lifters so I'm thinking I've got a suspect lifter or 2... Maybe a spring... only does is when cold though.... on idle and when the needle passes the 2grand mark, anything above 2grand, and no tapping.... What do you think?
