  1. I'd get mine reconditioned. Award here in Sydney advertise around $600 for a major overhaul on most cars. If you get a used one, it'll probably need an overhaul anyway. I just had my oil changed, and made a massive difference. It was too heavy. These gearboxes need a light weight oil. Good luck mate.
  2. I bought a Nismo Pro GT TT from Hi Octane Racing for $1620. They were cheaper by $300 then everyone else I enquired.
  3. Don't forget SK's basic guide for 6 cylinder engines. 480cc = 480 bhp or 363 kw based on 80 %
  4. If you're still having trouble and need expert help, and if you're in Sydney.. TweakiT at Mona Vale are Haltech specialists.
  5. Considering how old these Sterns are, I think they still look pretty damn good on the R33.
  6. NSW car owners. Keep this bookmarked : http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/veh...ards/index.html Search for the regulation you need.
  7. How would 17's be better for track ? I would have thought less wall movement would be better...
  8. that's interesting... I thought it was simply moisture on the inside surface of the plastic. So the clouding must be caused by UV exposure. Also,my car is garaged and has only been in rain twice in 6 months, and the fogginess is getting worse. Thanks for the tips, I'll give it a go.
  9. Lookin at a set of 17' XD-9's for my black R33. I've never seen any on an R33 before, would like to see how they suit. Anyone ?
  10. Do you have to pull the whole light out, or can you crack off the lense cover ? cheers
  11. Well I got the usual foggy headlights that most series 1 R33's get and it now looks very noticable. Pulling the headlamps out looks like a big job, I have washer bottle, cold airbox etc all in the way. Whats the best way to clean them and stop it from happening again ? Cheers.
  12. Read through the clutch threads and you'll find dozens of very satisfied customers whom bought from Jim Berry. He's a clutch fanatic and won't sell you anything you don't need. Put aside about an hour for a phone call and ring him. Jim Berry Clutches. 26 Gladys St Stones Corner QLD 07 38479999
  13. They are viscous 4.11 ratio. Remember once you get over 260 rwkw, they'll become unpredictable. Mine is worn though, never tried new oils. I thought the S15 had cool helical diff anyway..
  14. Hey I just had a quick look inside my Nismo kit and noticed I have two right side flanges as marked on the sticker. Part numbers are the same on both boxes. Can anyone confirm left and right are the same before I head out to Award and get stuck. I know on some model Skylines left and right are different lengths. I have ECR33 GTS-T with ABS. Cheers.
  15. I'm a builder and need heaps of tools. I did actually take it to work for a while as my work vehicle died. Nail guns behind the seats, saws, planers etc in a crate in the boot between the subs. All the other tradesmaen thought it was hilarious watching me pull out all the gear from the boot, the back and front seats every day, then changing clothes before I get in. Not very practical but comuting was the best part of the day ! My R33 is not my daily, occasional afternoon drives and say 4 track days a year. I'll go for a cane evey so on in the national parks. No cops., just cyclists. They love me.
  16. That's what I thought. How could a car stay straight with all the power on one wheel. Doesn't make sense. Thanks for clearing it up. Last track day I felt very unstable around corners. Anyway problem will be solved soon.. I've got a Nismo PRO GT 1.5 TT sitting in my boot, thanks to Nathan at High Octane Racing. Great price.
  17. Previously with my high flow and around 280 rwkw I found the stock diff single spinning HEAPS, especially in 1st and 2nd. I mean floor it and I'm facing the foot path in a second. Third was just damn dangerous if I was in a hurry. Strangley now, with 335 rwkw, no one's touched the diff and I can launch the car from stand still with high rpm and she'll just smoke up and stay straight. Traction is noticely much better than ever and the car won't kick out anymore at all in any gear. If anyone has an explanation for this I'd like to hear it. Cheers.
  18. I think it's disappointing that EVERYONE is cashing in on the R35 wave. Tuners, dealers, body kit manufacturers, performance parts suppliers, ECU suppliers, the Government and so on. Why is everything SO expensive related to the R35. I'll tell you why, it's called profiteering. Cobbs access port R35 $995 - Infiniti $695 Cobbs downloadable maps - buy only Haltech Platinum ECU R35 $4495 Any other $2195 - hey it's the same unit, only looms different ! Insurance 30% more. Sorry guys I reckon right now if you want an R35 and say 650 hp, it's gonna cost you $220k Not to mention all the warranty issues and breakage possibilities. Haltech blew up their R35 ! I'd wait until all this crap blows over.
  19. yeah ok. But my intentions are: Have award change the diff, Hopefully return to their workshop around 3pm , do the break in somewhere, return to them immediately to change the oil, then go home. I'm a fair way from Seven Hills.
  20. Let us know where you did the break in. Cheers.
  21. I didn't know we had salt flats here in Oz. Will look into it. Phillip Island is definately on the agenda one day. Long way home for me though. Bathurst isn't available as and open track day is it ? Only Cams holders and special events I thought. Cheers.
  22. True. I remember now the Cannonball run that Alan Moffat organised in NT. After the F40 crashed and 4 people died, they canned it forever. It was a slightly risky event though with the roads still open to the public. I mate of mine navigating in a Maserati Barchetta said they overtook a caravan at 240 km. Yet the Targa Tasmania will carry on. Hey it's MOTORSPORT - everyone knows the risks. As for insurance, how does that work say on a track day. Everyone signs a full disclaimer, so if something happens, then what ? What will any insurance cover for a driver whose just waived all their rights anyway ? The event organiser isn't liable for anything, the disclaimer is very concise. Just BS to me.
  23. Certainly is. Anyway, I'll be having Award do the install for me. For anyone whose been to them... Where the hell in Seven Hills can you do the break in without getting arrested ?
  24. Had a look on youtube. Only saw 1/4 mile passes. Trouble is also, it's only 1 mile long. Need one 2 miles !
  25. I was watching on Fifth Gear, a segment on V-max, the largest car club in Europe. All sorts of cars. Anyway, the club hires a 2 mile long runway, and sets up a radar. Then everyone one by one or two at a time, has a go at their top speed. How cool is that ! Is this done in Australia anywhere legally ? Sure would like to know how 300 feels.
