My friend is looking for a DC2 Type-R, I wanted to hop onto some forums and have a look around to see what's available outside of the usual carpoint/drive/carsales/tp websites... Anyone know of a DC2 Type-R in good condition going for low 20's?

Can I be AnthonyK1??? My brother has abandoned his V8 R34 GTR project, and now he's going to drop a VTEC-powah 1.6L twin cam screaming engine of fury into a '67 Pony Fastback :woofy: -
I know, I did read it, but it didn't support my post, so I conveniently censored it

Dude, if we implemented an open speed limit rule here, people would be killing themselves and other drivers left, right and centre. Our licencing system is so pathetic compared to Germany. They can afford to have autobahns because their drivers are well trained and use the speed with a modicum of responsibly (with the odd exception of course). We wouldn't be able to handle an autobahn. We don't have the driver training for it.

Ummmm... I'd rather not live in a totalitarian and junta-based society, but if that's what turns you on, Mother Russia is awaiting your visa application. This is what I mean by it's hard to come up with a solution. Everyone is throwing around solutions that simply wont work. Full stop. Setting laws isn't as easy as it seems. Perhaps the easiest was to slow this behaviour is jail time. Nice and simple.

True, they don't have the resources to keep a crackdown like that sustained over a long period of time.......... But I never said that they did, nor do they need to. That defect blitz put the fear of God in us, and we were afraid to go cruising for a few months following that massacre. My point is that they have the resources to do what they deem is important. Unfortunately stopping street racing isn't high on their list, because as NXTIME said, they have a whole lot of other, more serious problems to focus on. But until a solution is found, and even we can't come up with a workable solution, I'm afraid that the finger pointing at skyline owners is going to continue, especially is kids keep splitting their GTRs in two around telegraph poles
-
There was a period of time of about a month or two early last year where the Police went completely nuts with those defect stations. Have you all forgotten that? We even stopped organising any cruises at all for that period, because any drive to Brighton, Sans Souci, Wollongong, Terrigal, Harry's Pies in Woolloomooloo, Kings Cross.... ANYWHERE would result in driving face first into a mobile defect station. I stopped driving my Skyline COMPLETELY as we were inundated with stories and reports of Defect Stations in every possible suburb, some that even had us scratching our heads. Don't tell me they don't have the resources. That's bullsh1t. edit: NXTIME, I agreed with everything in your last post

Okay, this isn't getting anywhere. I'm saying the confiscation law is good, but the ratio of confiscated cars to cars partaking in street drags is negligible, and doesn't wage any kind of fear into street racers because Police aren't enforcing the law enough. You're saying that "plenty of cars" have been confiscated... What? 10? 20? Out of how many? 400? 600? 1000? That doesn't seem like "plenty" to me. Doesn't sound like the police are enforcing the law to me! How are street racers able to attend these same spots for "years and years"? Doesn't sound like the police are enforcing the law to me! "Therefore, further action is required by the government." Agreed, but no-one has come up with any REAL suggestions on any methods that will reap IMMEDIATE results like the government wants. The $10,000 fine is not a viable suggestion, whether you believe me or not
-
Of course it won't happen. Same way the $10,000 fine won't happen, but I was just saying that it's what *I'D* propose. It will never see the light of day though
-
Firstly, how many cars do you think have been confiscated? Secondly, how many people do you think, since that law was introduced, have successfully attended and participated in street drags without ANY intervention from the polics? Answer truthfully, and you'll see that the law is NOT being enforced. Not to a scale that will actually prove to be a real threat to these street racers anyway. You're saying $10,000 fine... I'm saying confiscate and sell the car and don't give them their money back. Which one do you think is more likely to get results? Take their asset on the spot and sell it or ask them nicely for $10,000?
-
This is true. Not only young drivers are participating in these street drags... There are many stupid older people as well. Unfortunately stupidity doesn't always lessen with maturity. Did you read my first post in this thread? If you did, you'll see my solutions for this problem. Unfortunately, I'm long sighted and my suggestions are aimed at fixing this problem FOR GOOD.... and not knee-jerk reactions to try and bring all illegal street drags to an immediate halt, like everyone seems to think they can do. I'm sorry, but that's just not going to happen. I'd be willing to bet any amount of money on that. It's got to be a progressive thing, done through driver education and changing the youth's attitude about 1.5 tonne blocks of metal they're in charge of. So that will hopefully effect in future generations, but for an immediate solution, I think that the confiscation of cars, selling them and putting the money towards driver education is the way to go. That way, they have a LOT to lose. They will lose their transport to work, lose a large chunk of their assets (if not their ONLY tangible asset), or put them into debt to repay a car that they no longer have. That's a pretty big fear that the government can put into these guys, but ONLY IF THEY ACTUALLY HAVE THE BALLS TO GO THROUGH WITH IT AND CONFISCATE AND SELL THE CARS. No point in setting those laws if they're not going to carry them out, reduce punishments and go all soft.
-
They don't pay the $2000 now, they're not going to pay the $10,000 either. Confiscating their vehicles is a better idea than slapping them with a fine they'll just ignore.
-
Mate, these P-platers driving clapped out Datsun 1200s don't have $10,000 to pay the government. It just won't work. Legislation like that would never get passed anyway, I can assure you of that 100%. It just won't happen.
-
........... and do you think legislation like that would EVER pass through our parliament? Lets be realistic here.

:thankyou:

I know that R&R Manly is a right PAIN to park for, but it's sooooooooo much nicer than the restaurant in Gordon... So it's got my vote Richard, I'm all up for going to different restaurants, but you have to admit that the steaks at R&R are quite excellent (without having to resort to city parking to goto Prime or Kingsleys) and Thai Orchid's Volcanic Chicken is right up there in the Thai food championships Next month, you should start a new thread suggesting somewhere else, before I get the picture of me lifting the chunky, professional steak knife up in the air and bring it down in a sweeping motion into the perfectly cooked, medium rare cut of Ribeye King Island Angus Beef on a wooden cutting board. As I savour the taste and dripping blood of that MEAT, I stab wildly into the pile of well done fries on the side of the wooden board and lift heftily towards my mouth as my other hand grabs at an ice cold beer to wash down the spoils of war.... Ahem. I'm hungry now.
