Anyone know whether this new Nissan boss is a Ford or Holden guy ? First they boycott the GTRs from competing...then they move in ! SAVAGES !

Un-fn-believeable ! Next thing you know Bill Gates will take over McDonalds to stop selling fast food and move into pumpkins and carrots...there's always carrots... All I can say is cherish your photos and video tapes. But look at the bright side - Soon we will be harnessing water-powered combustion... when they've figured out how they can make a fat profit out of it...

Anyone got an original R33 GTS-T service manual translated ? I know one of you do out there... Probably sitting under a Homes Pictorial or something...

Nissan factory keyless entry remote
PuppaDuck replied to PuppaDuck's topic in General Automotive Discussion
After a bit of surfing (thanks to some guidance), here are the options I found: -> Jaycar. Brand unknown. 4 Buttons. $45. Frequency range 250mHz to 450mHz. -> Tandy. Rhino brand. 4 Buttons. $40 on special (else $50). Frequency range 255MHz to 500MHz -> Dick Smith. Same as the Rhino version above but without the special, so $50. The next step is to sort out the different frequencies. Do I take a punt at the wider frequency of 255-500, or am I the guy who is going to need the 250-255 because the Nissan remote requires this ? If anyone doesn't know any better, I'll go for the 255-500 and let you guys know what happens so you can learn from my mistake. -
Nissan factory keyless entry remote
PuppaDuck replied to PuppaDuck's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Thanks camandcandice - I guess that'll do the trick. Sounds risky and I don't think I'll ever let my remote out of my sight again. But thats what I am going to have to get. Do you have any details for me ? I'd like to chase this up. A shop/contact name and price would be great. -
Is anyone else using the Nissan remote still ? I have the Nissan car key that is held in a black plastic remote casing and has 1 button on it for keyless entry. When I opened it to change the button battery in it, I saw a bit of circuitry and a a lil dial which I assume is to dial in the frequency to what you need. The reason for this thread: My remote casing is physically dying and I want to do something about it. I've heard that you can get some car audio shop to duplicate the functionality of the factory remote and you end up with a standalone remote that you can keep as a spare, etc. Has anyone ever had this done or know where I can get this done ? Like anything in NSW, I assume they send it away to someone in Melbourne. I know this is a bit hard to have done outside the original manufacturer with new cars as they have messages going back and forth from the car to the remote so you can't easily duplicate it for anything under 100 bucks. Would appreciate any feedback from those in the know. Otherwise I fear I may have to one day engineer a wallnut shell and some chewing gum to be a replacement...or worse case scenario involves buying a new central locking kit because its the only feasible option.

Door Window Tint getting scratched
PuppaDuck replied to PuppaDuck's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Finally I have net access again - so I'm back baby! Anyway just wanted to let you guys know that I had the same problem and solution results as JimX. Wiped the black felts as much as I could just to be complete. Got the silicon spray and spent a few minutes each side making sure the tracks and rollers were lubed up. I could be wrong but have noticed the motor noise sounds slightly quieter after that, as well as the window moving slightly faster. I'm assuming its because the motor and glides have less resistance now. As for the white felt bits that were causing the scratches...a bit hard to loosen ! probably what did it. I just loosened them. They angled as JimX said. I tried to take them out to see if I could resurface them. Couldn't get them out of the door cavity, so put them back only I didn't tighten them up as much - still firm, but not tight enough to squash the door metal to oblivion. Difference just have been a mm or two, but seems to have made the difference. Existing scratches are there still, but I'm happy knowing they won't get worse - till I replace them one day. At least the glass is protected. Thanks again guys ! -
I have noticed that vertical lines are developing in my tint - both doors. Had the same tint on my R33 for about 4 years now, and have been noticing these lines for the past 6 months or so. I always try to keep my windows clean, and won't open them when they are dirty. Still, it seems to be getting worse over time. I notice a little nicking noise sometimes, which I assume is when it touches. I reckon its the little white fluffy square things inside the door that hold the window outwards from the inside while it moves. If you wash the car and then open and close the window, the water line will show you where I am talking about. You can see these if you look down the door with the window open. I rang about 20 window tinting places asking them if they service these things to stop tint damage from occuring, and NONE of them said yes. They were just interested in selling me a retint, which I can't blame them, would be better for business. Just wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem, and what you did to overcome this. I would have assumed that if the felt was just getting dirty, that a lot of people would have the same problem. Was thinking of popping off the door trim, looking for loose screws, and seeing how easy it would be to take those felts out to examine for sand or dirt, etc and maybe even resurface it or try buying new ones if they sell them separate. I don't think the window guides are the issue, but what do I know. Would prefer to seek out an option to take it to a pro first, else it'll become a DIY with guidance from the SAU crowd.

I have some sound deadening stuff. Not sure what brand it is. Looks charcoal grey/black and about 3-5 mm thick. Sticky tar looking on one side. I think it got heated up and applied whilst hot. Not sure how good it is, cause my rear spoiler still vibrates. That might be because the spoiler pads hadn't been reinstalled after repainting. (looking for some replacements if anyone has any - I've got the higher squarish stock spoiler - M-Spec ?) A definite problem is when I see it peeling off inside the rear quarters. I reckon its probably from the sun. I just push it back on and it stays for a while, till I check it again in a few months.

If anyone has ideas or tips for getting the job done, we'd be highly appreciative... Even if others are willing to share how they keep their window system clean to avoid the scratches in the first place...

Is the water in an enclosed system which is recycled like a radiator, or spray jets that feed a limited supply of water from a reservior ?
-
What exactly is it ?
-
I would have thought you could have buffed it similarly to how I've see them do stainless exhausts on the wheel... A whole engine bay full of shine ? Damn that'd be impressive... Still waiting for someone to do the exterior of the car too...society is still stuck on paint...and other non-blinding surfaces...

Intercooler able to cool intake air to ambient temp?
PuppaDuck replied to lambo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Is it possible for the ambient air temp to be recorded as a stationary air speed (or perhaps inside a pipe where the air properties have changed), whereas the intercooler would be receiving air temps with some sort of wind-chill factor associated to it ? (Don't grill me - I am just asking out of a learning interest) -
Perhaps you know someone who polishes the shoes ? Put some Autosol on the buffer and work some automated magic perhaps ?

Personally - I just want one !

Summoner - All of what you replied with may be true, but you have not said anything that disproves anything of what I said... Except you threw in an insult which shows you are a little emotional about the subject...and to that I will yield because I can't recall any links to shove in your face that details the threats of boycotting that occurred during the whole saga... ps. I never mentioned comparing apples and oranges, of which you sound like you are, speaking of bodge stock LS-1s...and GTS-Ts... Me thinks because you have paid a pretty penny for your obviously superior later-model car (yes in its stock form), you'd like to be hailed the better man when comparing yourself to GTS-T owners... So to put you in your place, I am TELLING YOU that your APPLE is mightier than my ORANGE... The reason why you will hear a lot of people try to put you in your place by mentioning Bathurst, is because it is one instance where Commodores and Skylines were able to be put in THE SAME CLASS...hence to compare an APPLE and an APPLE... So no need to get personal... No need to compare your car vs my car... No need to put anyone down... And the moral of the story - EVERYONE should be able to enjoy fruit !

Didn't Skylines beat Commodores in all the big races to the extent that Holden cried till they got rid of the Skyline and changed the name to V8 Supercars ?? Gives them a better chance of having Commodores win when there are barely no other cars racing in the league... Get rid of the competition and makes some sales... Also, pity about the depreciation...everyone I know who got a loan to pay for their new Commodores actually have more debt than value left in their car loan... First year - buy the car for 50K...owe 50K... Second year - you owe 44K...car is worth 42K...burns oil Third year - you owe 38K...car is worth 34K...burns more oil and rattles

If I was a cop, I'd be a lot more excited and proud about being tactical and strategically catching actual criminals - especially these obvious repeat offenders who would be making absolute fools out of the local police in each of those areas. Otherwise I would have to consider myself nothing but a lowly traffic cop issuing infringements to nobodies. Whats better ?? Scenario 1: "Honey I'm home - yeap fined 3 more hoons for having pod filters tonight......nah nah pod filter.....P-O-D F-I-L-T-E-R ??.....Oh its a different type of air cleaner that......Honey - where are you goin ? You're goin to watch Big Brother ? Oh ok I'll wait till commercial to explain what that is and why its a big deal to me that I have to remain excited to come home and tell you about......Oh look...they evicted Vincent......Didn't you like him babe ??.....Honey ??? ...Hello ??" OR "Honey I'm home - yeap me and the boyz finally cracked that skyline thieving ring......yeah the ones with the cool round tail lights.......we got em babe.......what ?? you wanna have an early night AGAIN ?? oh ok honey......you're right...I did earn it....but take it easy with me - I've gotta get up at 6am and do it all over again.....yeap a good cop knows he can't rest while there's more out there..."
