a couple more tips.... for plastic kits, I'd recommend a decent primer... otherwise the paint will eat the plastic straight up... I use pva glue for clear plastics, it doesn't leave white burn marks/hazing on the plastic like the modelling cement can do. (i don't know how pva glue feels about this!) I also use the pva when attaching bits which require paint to paint contact, but can't be "roughed up" a little first. eg: tail lights which get painted on the side you need to glue. a few other things that i couldn't do without in my kit.... (ladies, go hide your manicure sets...) an emery board nail clippers (i find them less awkward than side cutters for some things) tweezers Blue tac 7 gazillion different 00, 000, 0000 paintbrushes a block of wood that all paints get tested on before use (always test consistency of paint if you haven't opened them for a while!) a tiny dish (sushi dipping bowl) for decal soaking (i lost one in a big bowl once)

Sovereign Hill is awesome... if you're into that type of thing. You can check out the old beam pump, take a guided tour of a mine, pan for gold..... and one of my personal faves... watch the dudes making stuff in the lolly shop! It really is a step back in time, so be sure to wear boots or crappy shoes, last time I went it had been raining, and they didn't have concrete footpaths in the 1850's = very muddy Make sure you go visit the gold museum.. it has all sorts of groovy stuff... I was fascinated by the display of stuff relating to the foot binding of the Chinese women whose husbands worked in the goldfields. Not sure if it was a permanent display, museums change their displays all the time so that you can go there more than once and not get bored. For more info/opening times visit: http://www.sovereignhill.com.au/ Another thing you should do, is go take a photo of your car sitting in front of Kryal Castle. I love the mags on the Celica!

Just to clear this one up..... If you had taken a few seconds to read the text in the (my) image (thanks for not crediting me) that you posted, you would have found that Nissan had nothing to do with anything but the base production of these 3 vehicles. The Peter Jackson Nissan Racing Team, under the direction of Fred Gibson have prepared 3 unique Nissan road cars. These cars were not "factory turbo". The pace cars in question were also not "factory turbo". If you wish to carry on the rather pointless debate of whether Nissan Australia produced any factory turbo R31's, please start a thread in the "classic skylines" section. This thread is now locked, at thread starters request.

wow pva..... your meat is HUGE! and what's with the 20+ choc mousse? is that what you fed to the cow before you killed it?

Back to the original topic, I believe it's because they wait for the film to be "full" before they pull it.... meaning that the more people who speed in that particular area, the faster you'll get the ticket.

Just to show everyone how bad it can get.... This is just a part of the collection..... : If anyone knows of any self help groups that can help people wean themselves from this addiction, now would be a good time to come forward... this addiction is starting to spiral out of control.

OK... thought I might as well get in on it and post up some of mine.... A couple of them are missing some minor finishing touches, but they'll get there one day. Pics are rather crappy, not enough natural light, and if the flash was used, it made the paint look yuck, but that's enough excuses for now.... This is my 31 coupe.. I also have a metallic purple 4 door and a black "drift spec" 31 with GT-R mags which have been in the build process for a while now, I'll get around to finishing them one day. I had to raise the brightness in this photo, only because the grey blended in with the black. This is my 32 GT-R My 33 GT-R... I discovered that the LHS rear view mirror had fallen off when I went to take it out of it's display case, so you're not allowed to look at the other side. The paint on this one is a funky metallic blue, but the metallic flecks in it flared when the flash went off, and it looks ultra strange... no, that isn't dust under/near the spoiler, it's flash flare My 34 GT-R Yellow. I love yellow 34s, I didn't have to take time to think about what colour this one was going to be. A word of advice to anyone thinking of taking this up as a hobby, DON'T DO IT! It becomes an obsession. The collection of Skylines has now passed 100. First we were going to stop at 50.... then 70... then 80.... then it got to the stage where we were so close, that we might as well see if we could hit the 100 mark. We hit the 100 mark, then I found another new range which had been released, and I couldn't just walk away and leave them in the shop... It's a good thing our boarder moved out, at least we have somewhere to put them all now

Yes, yes I am. Thank you for noticing.

Again, if you don't park where you shouldn't, it won't happen. Is Steve Bracks is to blame when you drive too fast and get dicked by a camera? Is Mick Bourke to blame when you get a letter from the EPA? Is Christine Nixon or David Anderson to blame when you get a canary? It's your car, and your responsibility. No point trying to pass the buck when you stuff up and get caught.

Right click, save as... JINX!

Start the engine, pull the fuse to the fuel pump When the car stalls, switch ignition off and go for it.

Either that's a really low bar, or a really tall cat. Sure it wasn't a dog? I don't think I've ever seen a cat pee upwards!

A major consideration when buying a car cover, is where you park the car. If you park in a garage as siddr20 does, then it should be fine, provided that the car is perfectly clean every time the cover is put on. If the car isn't clean, you're dragging dust and grit across the car while trying to fit the cover. If your car lives out in the open, take pressure points into consideration... Unless it's a custom made cover, it won't fit like a glove. Generic car covers are floppy, and will flap around in the wind. This flapping eventually wears at the paintwork. Dust and bird poo are temporary mess which can be washed off. ....unlike the damage which can be caused by a poorly fitting car cover flapping on the paintwork for 16 hours a day. Some of the high-end generic covers will have fluffy stuff inside them, this does bugger all apart from cause bits of leaves, small sticks and other debris which get blown up off the ground to get stuck in the fluffy stuff, which damages the paintwork faster with each "FLAP FLAP FLAP!" Take a look at some of the portable car ports. They may cost more than a car cover, but they cost less than a respray.

Was this a bump test? If so, the mods in this section of the board are generally on the ball. If this wasn't a bump test, allow me to be the first to say... "way to bump a thread which had run its course and wrapped itself up 8 months ago!"

How many attended? Doesn't look like a very big turn out

I was trying to choose my words carefully.

Did anyone see that interview with So & Bracks after the games? Bracks did the "John So is my Bro" line, then put his arm around So's shoulder, Bracks then removed his arm from around So's shoulder, and leaned very casually with his elbow on So's shoulder, then when the press started to address Bracks directly, he proceeded to use his elbow to shove So off to one side. I'm not a fan of So, but I'm even less of a Bracks fan. In the spirit of Ted Bullpit, and at risk of being named as a terrorist, SOMEONE SHOULD BLOW ALL THE BLOODY POLITICIANS UP!

Some Personal Advice Regarding My Next Car
SKY031 replied to gts-4 dreamer's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Any car you purchase second hand will need work.... even if you have a full service history, cars are cars, and anything can break at any time. Regardless of how well maintained the vehicle is (or is said to be), or how regularly it gets serviced, there are many costly things which will break/need replacing with little to no warning. -
This didn't make a lot of sense to me...... From the above comment, it seems like you didn't benefit much from the driver training. If you had, you wouldn't have been taking a corner in the wet at such a speed that your back end would "completely swing out". I don't see a lot of point in spending money on something which isn't roadworthy related. If you fork out the money for the course, the person who ends up buying the car may not be interested in doing it.

I was flipping channels last night, and stopped when I heard a familiar voice... I ended up taping it from about 1/4 way through because i didn't think anyone would believe me Glad I wasn't tripping.
