  1. A few interesting tips mate that could be quite useful. That the accident wasn't the fault of any of us guys on the cruise is irrelevant, the overtaking lane was clearly for the use of cars heading in the direction we were, but it is never the less possible it could have been prevented. For this to have been avoided I believe we needed to be running more like a 5 second gap between each car rather than the 2 that is supposedly sufficient. This may have been the difference between the head on occurring & not, but then we never will know for sure. This accident is never the less not the fault of the guys on the cruise like I said before, but I have a phase I coin from time to time: If you don't take care of yourself (or in this case 'yourselves') no one will. I think it's an important lesson for all of us, myself included.
  2. Hey mate, yeah I'll get some Pics of it on the weekend & post it up on here. The pipes aren't really all that big on the outlet, maybe 2 and half inch, but it looks neat. I did use BATMBL's pipe & cat. Mark & the guys at Exhaust technology loved the CAT, but they were notably quiet about the dump pipe, which was a bit odd. Biggest criticism that it got was that it sat too close to the underbody of the car & he had to try hard to keep it away to that it didn't hit. When I looked at the pics of the old type dump BATMBL was selling I noticed that it dropped down a bit further before curving back up to where it bolts on to the cat, so I'm kinda wishing I'd gotten one earlier & had the older type. 1 of the guys also said that the add on pipe which slots into the turbo looked a bit small, but from the pics BATMBL sent me of 1 stuck in an R33 turbo body, as long as the piping is the same as the 1 he sent photo's of, you can't fit bigger anyway. I was probably a little dissapointed with the quality of the job done too on the dump. It looked a bit rough in some places & there was some weld spatter that was never cleaned off from the inside of the pipe properly & a tonne of fine metal shavings inside. From the outside though it looked fairly good. I'm probably being fussy but that's me, details details. Anyway will get those pics on by the end of the week
  3. Hmm I've tested a lot of these injector rails in the past from various models & they've all been at about 3.75 bar with no vacuum. These injectors run under much higher pressure than most other types I've seen, usually 2.5 to 3 bar is normal with other types of injectors. I would think normally with vacuum it would be somewhere down around 3 bar of pressure.
  4. Yeah it was a good time, thanks again mate
  5. Yeah well the Fujitsubo's were an option, but as they were only single pipe I wasn't interested. I did find out they did make a twin pipe version, but only in limited numbers. Had they still sold one, that's what I would have gotten. Still with a custom system my car is more individual than it would have been, & I like that very much. As far as the note is the loudness is concerned I'm starting to get used to it now. It is just a bit louder than standard from inside, enough that when you are listening to music at a moderate level & you give the throttle a squeeze that you can hear it clear enough to hear the note & know what kind of revs you are doing, but nothing more, which is just nice. The car also seems to have more power than when it was first put on too. A few good drives I think have flushed a lot of the crap out of it (there was a lot of metal shavings in the dump & cat when I got it) & allowed the air to flow more cleanly. 2nd gear power slides out of corners are also easily at hand now, even with the 265's on the rear (though the rubber is almost due for replacement). Very happy with the increase in torque & power.
  6. Check that you don't have any air leaks too make, if your engine is sucking in air that isn't going through the afm it'll be running lean as hell & will cause your hunting with the revs too. I've got a problem with mine leaking on the vacuum line to the boost gauge sensor. I fixed it once but the hose I got wasn't good enough. Need to get some fibre reinforced hose the right size. Bloody hard to find. I May need to try Nissan themselves, I know local delivered 200SX's use the right stuff.
  7. Well I finally got the centre muffler fitted today. A nice big 3 inch Magnaflow centre muffler. It did cost me an extra $320 though (ouch!), wasn't charged for the labour though. The car is a hell of a lot quieter now, prehaps just a tad too quiet now, but from what I'm told the more mods you do, the louder it gets again anyway, so I can live with that. I've got to get used to having a quiet car again. It still sounds good when you rev it, but doesn't quite have the gutsy growl it had before. It is a compromise so I guess you can't have everything. Once I'm used to it, it should be better anyway. Hopefully with a few mods the high end will become a bit stronger. Will post some Pics of it up soon now that it's finished properly. I can say this much though, if it seems too good to be true it probably is. Ended up spending about $1465 for the cat back, though that includes fitment of the entire system. Probably about the same price as a Kakimoto system only with a different look to it with the twin, so it was probably worth the effort that way in the end. I can't say the system is EXACTLY what I wanted, but it's a hell of a lot closer than I would have been if I'd just got a bolt on system. That's me though, fussy as hell. Maybe I'll have to learn how to use a welder for next time so I can do it myself
  8. Hey Madaz, saw your post on the Accident thread & I think hostiles suggestion is a good 1, bad date to do it mate. My car's going to be in the Show & Shine & I have to be there early, so I can't make it either. Personally I think it would be better if there was a bit more time for us to mentally recover & get organised anyway. It was only just last weekend. Drew will be out by then too & if he wants to, he'll then have the option of coming along (Drew if you read this later I'd be happy to come pick you up if you wanted a lift). I know you must realise how lucky you were too mate since you did have jump out his way too & that must've been really scary. I think we should try & pay our respects no question, but we also need to be thankful that we are all still alive too, take the life we still have & make the most of it. Don't push yourself too hard visiting Drew & stuff too mate, they're are other people looking out for him too.
  9. Will consider making it since it's not too late, though I start work at 6 on saturday.
  10. After reading Madaz's post about Jasmine having had to accidents, I couldn't help but get a little teary eyed about it. I think it would be good of us to maybe try & make a contribution in some way, whether it be moral support & or reaching into our pockets in a bid to improve her health & well being. I'm sure it'd help make it that bit easier to get her life back on track with our support. Just a suggestion
  11. Hey Tangles, I didn't say anything about people wishing they were there. I just thought it was wrong for people to feel 'relieved' that they didn't go. Having said that I hadn't noticed in you post that it was your family that was relieved & I can see your point there. No offence intended mate. Hope to meet you when you're ready to roll again.
  12. Hmm been a few interesting comments about the accident as far as the road & driving is concerned. I think it comes down to a combination of both things really. I found out some other stuff about that spot today too. While I didn't notice at the time, I had a chat with a fellow work collegue about it today as it turns out he was one of the on duty SES guys that turned up after the crash. He spoke to Drew while he was still in the car, initially still a bit dazed & confused but he found out that Drew actually pulled his legs back when he saw the festiva coming, so his own quick thinking was probably a major contributor to his own survival. Well done mate. I also found out that only a couple hundred meters up the road from where the accident happend, there had been another fatal crash not that long ago. Only thing was when this 1 happend some lunatic decided to try & illegally overtake 6 cars in that middle lane & was doing 160+ (so I'm told anyway) & they had a head on with a car coming up the opposite way. Needless to say that was disasterous also. Just also one other comment, some guys are saying they're glad they didn't come, but I don't necessarily agree that that's the right attitude to have. The cruise had been great & we all had fun, I don't regret coming for a second. Any one event like an extra person coming or whatever would probably mean that we would not have been there at that exact time anyway due to other goings on. This kind of thing can happen to anyone at any time, that it has happend is tragic, but you can't regret something that you didn't know was going to happen. If anything all we can do is push harder for things to change as far as driver education & road design is concerned as these are the biggest contributors to this accident.
  13. Hey My33 your's is actually a 95 model which is dubbed series 1.5 is it not? I know that most series 1's don't have a drivers airbag as it was only optional, & you could get both too. Very rare on a series 1. The 1.5's they made the Drivers airbag standard & then all Series 2's have both. Something along those lines anyway. I know it's a bit off subject but thought I'd point it out
  14. Well I am very relieved to know that Drew is doing ok, it has played on my mind all day. Very good to hear that Jasmine is doing well too, but I would like to comment that we have all missed someone out here. The older woman driving the other Festiva was also a victim of this accident & she should be given just as much attention. I did notice earlier that it was stated she had surgery last nite. Does anyone know anything more about what's happening with her? I'm sure she'd appreciate a few of us visiting her also.
  15. I was a pretty shocking accident from where I saw it. If Drew pulls out of it 100% ok he's a very lucky man, which is more than can be said for the driver of the Green festiva (my deepest sympathies to his friends & family). I wish him & all others involved well, & will visit him in hospital as soon as I get details of his whereabouts. Can you help us out with that stuff & PM some details Nightcrawler? Hopefully next time we can do this without any such dramas.
  16. Yep Japanese fuel is heaps better than ours. They use 100 RON on all their cars over there, none of this paying extra for Premium BS (Unless you want to run racing fuel). Fuel Prices in Adelaide for 98 waver between $1.40 and $1.50+ now. Brisbane is meant to be cheaper (less tax in Queensland)
  17. Hmmm 30 cars hey. Gonna need somewhere with some pretty deacent parking space to hold that many. Not really sure that there's anywhere in town we can get that many parks. A good meeting spot would be just at the start of Glen Osmond road in the parklands. I don't think there'd be too many cars normally parked there on a Sunday, but anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
  18. Yeah I haven't got it dyno'd or anything yet, will have to wait for a while to do that. First gear wheel spins are just a matter of feeding it enough a reasonable amount juice now just about no matter what the revs. You had to give it a fairly good push on the throttle before from lower speed for it to spin (I've got 265's on the rear). I got BATMBL's split dump & CATCO 3" cat (Mark at ET liked it more than the dump pipe). Boost comes on a couple hundred RPM earlier, nothing drastic, the main gain is up the top end. Where it just seemed like reving it for the sake of it before it now seems a lot more willing to hit the limiter. Mid range has definantely improved too, low end not much different, but from comments I've seen of others when they've fitted a larger exhaust on this seems to be the norm. Will post some photo's up here once I've got it all sorted out.
  19. Well there are a few more that are cracking the 10:1 barrier with standard unleaded now. I know the new BF Falcon 6's (not the turbo's though) are running higher than 10:1 not sure about others, but it shows that it's possible with the right engine & tuning.
  20. You just about hit the nail on the head for how this system sounds at the moment, droney & bassy all the way up to about 3&1/2 grand. From there it's starts to get what would probably be best described as a mild mechanical howl, which is really nice. Went back & dropped in on them again after work today, & guess what the first thing was he said we could do? Yep a dirty great big oval muffler . He was a bit surprised it was that bassy, but I get the impression he hadn't done a 33 system with this twin pipe muffler, since most go for cannons. So I'm booked in again this coming Friday which means I'll have to put up with it for about a week. If a centre muffler kills the bass but keeps the top end note I'll be really happy. Will keep you posted.
  21. Well I've just driven home from the exhaust shop & I'm not so happy right now. The system is on, but it's got wayyy too much bass for my taste, so much so that it seems to kill the top end tune. I'm definantely going to have to go back to them to get it soughted out. I'm thinking that the resonator they fitted wasn't big enough, (only a hot dog type job). So now I've got a 33 that's friggen not only bassy but much louder than I wanted. I think I'll be asking them to fit a really big one if that'll shut up the bass, if that works I'll be happy, but right now not so impressed. Any other comments on what can be done would be appreciated.
  22. Yeah cheers for that little bit of advice mate, it's kinda what I've been thinking could happen & yeah the JUN B.L mufflers that he uses are meant to be top notch Japanese mufflers, so we will see. Going to have a good chat to him when I get there to figure out exactly what I want, but a hot dog type resonator is an option too.
  23. Yep count me in, will be doing a service the day b4 probably. So will be ready to roll.
  24. Yeah didn't mean to put that second post up, got no idea how it happend. Will be interested to find out what you think of your system when you get it RaseR. One thing about getting custom, you only have to wait as long as the cue to get in Still up in the air on 1 part of the system, whether or not I'm going to get a resonator/second muffler fitted in the system. I've actually heard a few skylines with systems that don't have 1 & they're not real loud, others though............. The main muffler being fitted is meant to be a really good one. I'll have to chat more to Mark about exactly what I want when I get there, but if I don't need the resonator I may go without it.
  25. No worries guys, think I'll have to take the camera with me when it's fitted. Only 4 days to go now
