Short day for me as tow car Commy did alternator in the morning and then battery change at servo along the way, long story, delayed getting there until after 2pm. Huge bunch of Skylines though and great to see. Not ideal conditions being so cold, not so good for grip plus dirt on the track from everyone gong off including me which is rare. Best time I did was 1 5.49 which was PB by 3 tenths. Well done to Neil and Duncan and everyone for your efforts.

Yep I did and that was squirming the full track and a handful, and obviously quick. Got bumper bars if goes all wrong though. Still nothing compared to looking at the Tasman sea at Phillip Island 7,500 rpm in 5th and no parachute.

Dirtgarage anyone can go in a straight line. Hey Jason I could drive your car if you want or Roy but I think he is taken??
-
I just spoke to GT Jason re his entry, I think he is weighing up the competition before he swoops in and takes the prize. Bit of posture I think. Dirtgarge we know the motor is strong in that GTR, lots more in it though to get it sorted in such a short time and I will buy you a bottle of Jack D stuff if it beats my zeds time, as long as it runs ok.

Dirtgarage put your boxing gloves away and you must have thin skin if you think I was both serious or attacking you when you where here the other day. Your kidding right? I was holding back I thought. Your argument is funnny and black is white or grey or.... Go Kart racing is vastly different to circuit racing and I would bet my zed that Luke would be faster by a second or so than Dave. Nothing against Dave as I know he is a very good driver and surfer too, but experience at the track in cars and expereince at Oran Gp can't be learnt in one day. Dirt garage funny you should mention that next time you are at a police station at night see what is in their coffee cups, if you can. Stressfull job pulling over try hard test pilots with dirt garage shirts on, testing gtr's at night. I guess.. waiting.... Hey where is GTR Jason when you need some reving about speed boat racing or something. GO Russ rev it up too whilst at it with the laughing stock that is gold. It was a smacking for sure.

Hey yeah plenty of yappin, luv it Dirtgarage and, "The dogs bark and the carvans move on." I will be driving it also on the day but not in timed session. FYI I drive it heaps and enjoy it yes. I am not sure why I or my car has been singled out as dirtgarage or Red Racing and Bell and others have V8 Supercar and other drivers. Keep it up though. Bozman covered this perfectly anyway. Dirtgarage as mentioned you have Luke Searl driving who's car business partner. What business? Kettle black as Duncan mentioned but worth a try at least.

Weather is looking good, at least for Southern Highlands min 2 c max 14c no rain clearing cloud. Zed is looking good to make it. Doing lots of little things to it this week still.

Engine Monitor Version 2
Boosted Zed replied to MountainRunner's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Very flash and I can't wait to get one. -
Unless it is raining I will be in for this day and do some Superlap testing.
-
FLop this is golden opportunity, better put me down for the remaining 19 places.

They have alloy Honda block and whole car weighs about as much as a big motorbike? No not really but silly light, as in 700kg or less I believe and supercharged not turbo. I might think different about supercharged engines now.

At least these things are not aloud to race and big balls or what??? Sorry coud be female drivers??? NOT>........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bf3cJRkeEqE

I was out there on Sunday afternoon and it was perfect conditions, 19C sunny day no wind. Far out these things are fast and here is the official times? Natsoft I did not get to see these cars and one is Elise Bozman and how do they go so fast? There was a yellow Camano Sports sedan which was the toughest looking thing I have seen at the track and he only did a 1 34. Tube frame fibreglass front end, massive aero and super low roof height and massive slicks with big chev in middle of the car. Take off the slicks and giants car is much lighter and better suspension etc than when it was there last and ran 1 min 40 last year, and mine is much faster too. I last ran there nearly two years ago and did a 1 43.5. It will still be a big challenge though, as times under 1 min 40 for example even a second is heaps, and THANKS Bozzo.

GO Russ this is exactly what I was thinking of doing to my zed. If having exhaust out the side is not recessed like this it is too noisy having exhaust out the side and not big enough muffler. Us zed owners don't like noise. If I do this I might go a bit higher into the cabin to fit a bigger muffler and still be flush underneath for less drag. Your passion and enthusiasm for motorsport is infectious.

With out my front diff this is a good guess but wrong. Not quite that light yet. Did someone mention something about being secrets. I will say it is getting lighter every day.

Boost button is the go, although I might raise the low boost a bit and see how goes for traction and drivability. DiRTgarage are you going it for sure or just beer talkin? You will have some stiff experienced well set up cars to compete with, but at least getting out there. As giant will know and might explain there is heaps of time to be gained in years of experience with testing and set up and what parts work and what doesn't etc. How much faster have you gone Russ compared to were you were at 2 years ago??? HEEEEAPS. Two ways to accelerate this advantage is lots of testing, hook up with a workshop with track experience that supply parts, use other people experience with the score on the board and get advice, and use motorsports engineers, and money helps. Lots more to it than going in a straight line. Yep Sydney kid is helping me with suspension set up and rear sway bar now etc, and some fine tuning, so I can at least get closer to giant and lofty and maybe others.
-
I am impressed Rus and you guys are living the dream.
-
Hey giant I have not seen the article, but Ian told me about it and follows the theme I have been telling Ian about this event having similarities of vision and challenges like that great movie, Field Of Dreams. Now the sign, Build It And They WILL come, which is what the heading is in Fast Fours. Ian said he still has not seen the movie or mentioned it to Fast Fours???
-
Hey blitzxtr Dave have a go, I think I will be strong contender for RWD and 4WD I predict will be between Lofty and Mark and Russ in their R32's. I bet my house with all my toys that I have the fastest zed on the day, he he. Maybe next year with limited budget of time and money, I have my alloy block 100kg lighter and .8 of a litre bigger VQ motor installed, with a bus load more power, I might be in their ear a lot more then. Btu then Giant brings out his R34 GTR and on it goes. PS I know how hard and expensive it is mainly in time to convert a road car to race car, and how hard it is to remove Sikaflex and Wurth rubber under car spray, which I pumped it's arse with in the doors and quarter panels etc, trying make a quieter road car out of my zed years ago.
-
OK Russ what are you up to??? Can't you guys stand still for a while at least? Beer Baron I have always been the best customer here. Also as Toyota say, "We race we learn you win."

I will be INNNN for the 5th and a Thursday. I need some help. There is your In Jason....... I went to Wakey yesterday with new Bilstien and 1 5.79 and felt good although I messed up with toe settings in rear as unstable unloaded under brakes at end of the straight and the car was walking around a bit in the rear, and not good. Got to try stuff though. Have been lightening the car today a bit more so I can get closer to those pesky QLD boys.
