  1. E creek is still a great track, and still lots in driving, set up, aero and yes hp. Check out the Slot Car on car vid. Slot Car overtaking GTR.
  2. I like Merli's ideas, although not sure how viable it would be with big screen but sounds great. Driver interviews could be easier and a good thing. Johnny Boz is as good a talker as he is a driver. Also Oran Park food is average and big line waiting. Also the lower pit food shed was not open this day. I spoke to Hi Cctane re this and no surprise they tell me they CANNOT sell food or drinks there, as the food shop have a contract with Oran Park. Eastern Creek will be great when we get there.
  3. The Slot Car was strong all day, again, but what might have been, as we found the boost button was not connected to the dash in first session, being the best time fo the day to get a time when we did 15.3, also had front undertray and air dam ripple strip smashed, so less downforce and more drag, so should have hit the 1 min 14 sec bracket, front tyres were old and lacked grip to and understeering, front diff was lacking too, he he. Bla bla bla. Hey fatz I couldn't see you out their ya big skirt, but soon to be and it will be tops. Pics
  4. Duncan guessed it right. fatz you must log off when using my computer. Far to sensible for fats I know. You big legend you.
  5. Big well done and big WELL earned. 205 ks yeah right. Behind every successful man is agod women and no doubt big help from Kel, and Neil to, no doubt over the years. Benm there again to, you get the record fure sure. Sorry Lofty re engine, rigning it's neck playing with the big boys. Although there is enough time to get it going again for next Sunday? If we can help at all just let me know.
  6. fats you big poof, Go Kart with a body, what chance have you got. Benm you cracked me up. Now all we need is Beer Bitch to get his two bob on things.
  7. Hey Duncan small world, and fancy seeing you and Neil at Eastern Creek today. Also great to see the Branster GTR out mxing it with some awesome sports sedans. Tried 305 rear actually. Hey Bris I have been flat out running the biz and getting final things done of the Slot Car. No secrets here, the boat has hat afull respray, now tough looking satin black, Carbon fibre targa roofs, saving 10kg, carbon Kevlar front spiltter, PPG straight cut dog box, modified rear wing, Bilstine PSS9's with Eibach springs, major surgery on geometry to raise roll centre and all pivot points raised, 997 GT3 Cup callipers, hard annodised with 380mm 72 vane BREMBO, lowered the motor 12mm with custom motorsport mounts, removed more weight and more. Going to Oran on Monday for testing. For the Lotus crew, well uncalled for and plenty of amo the other way in my opinion. I guess I should say thanks for stirring the pot and getting discussion going. As for hangrenade engines, well my motor has not left the engine bay and had no problems in over 3 and half years, and lots of track days. Not a mega dollar motor either. It has mostly stock parts, including crank, oil and water pumps, throttle bodies and manifolds, fuel rail, block, cams even, just reground, modified stock cam gears, and up until now stock gearbox, even a cheap but strong single plate clutch has lasted years as air cooled. No Panteck with pit crew with headsets and lap tops, tyres scrapers, Motecs, remote battery jump starts, and logging and didn't start with a road registered race car either.
  8. fatz here using johns computer his car looks so fast i heard he is painting it bright pink to go with his mardi gra hat!
  9. We are tidying up body and painting The Slot Car Satin Black. Putting big Chrome White and red Unique Auto Sports logo on. We also flared front guards and made some big vents behind front wheels, to suck hot air out from engine bay and brakes. Should look tough. Lots of mods and improvemtns since last Superlap to go faster also.
  10. Yep I've had my arse handed to me plenty by Mark and Russ. Although we have done lots of improvements to the boat to catch up to their R32 times, possibly, then they sold it and went into hyperdrive with this R34 beast, and moved the goal post again. Go Russ and Mark, no good standing still, your hair gets swept forward from everyone passing you, or maybe catching up is my goal.
  11. Snazzy looking car, good luck beating my Slot Car!
  12. $250 tight ....rse and Sat, as in day before the big one, is practice and only $140, bargain.
  13. Dam Natsoft get's in the way of a good story.
  14. I spoke with Ian from Hi Octane who set up this great event about this topic, and he asked me to post his email to me to help explain things. John, Thank you for your interest in Superlap and questions regarding the rules. As you know prior to running the first Superlap I did an awful lot of research internationally regarding Time attack racing and then took on the arduous task of making it work in Australia. The reason we made the rule regarding six cylinder rear engine cars is simple. Our obligation to our sponsors. We designed this event from start to finish as a JDM style tuner event, along the lines of what is run by Revspeed at Tsukuba circuit in Japan. This was the big attraction from a majority of our sponsors including our naming rights sponsor Yokohama. I am aware that overseas events do not have this rule but I feel that in Australia there are plenty of events that Porsches and Ferraris can mix it with the GTRs and Evos but in this case we feel that most of our sponsors and also a majority of our spectators would rather see the highest level Japanese cars battling it out together with a sprinkling of other interesting vehicles. The reason the Lotus are not excluded is they are viewed internationally as a tuner vehicle and the two that entered last year were in fact powered by Honda engines retrofitted with superchargers. To run an event of this magnitude requires a serious capital outlay and I can assure that if the classes are dominated by Porsches and Ferrari's then companies like Hi Octane,Turbosmart,Greddy and Haltech and possibly even Yokohama are certainly going to be wondering if it is worth being involved at the level they are, if in fact at all. And without the level of sponsorship these companies give us the event could not proceed certainly not at the level it will be at in 2009 anyway. After all if I was paying to go into Superlap I am paying to go and see the best Japanese TUNER vehicles in the country because that is what this event is all about. Hope to see you there on the 29th Ian Baker DIRECTOR SUPERLAP AUSTRALIA PTY LTD 36 MARY PARADE, RYDALMERE NSW 2116 TEL: [02] 9638 4643 FAX: [02] 9638 4651 WWW.SUPERLAP.COM.AU
  15. GO Duncan you know GTR's and good driver. When did it do 1 min 17's though has it been out to Oran GP since Superlap? As to Lotus and Porsche etc I think this is to fit in with the Worldwide theme or rules isn't it? Plus it originated in Japan and biggest there, and most of the workshops that support this event deal in Japanese cars. It would be a bit less than ideal if virtually road registered race cars to start with, including GT3 Cup cars and Lotus won the event each time. The other thing to keep in mind as this gets bigger there may be an issue with too many entries, and a shame if Japanese cars were indirectly muscled out if open to exotic magi dollar Euro cars. Some may not even bother to enter as is happening. As Roy mentioned to compete one would need to spend lots of money.
  16. Sounds good Dirt man and need time in the car and sorting more than anything. All in the right direction though, and bound to be faster. Russ and Mark with their R34 if finished and sorted in time will be awesome. Troy no probs mate, will be great to have you out there, it has been awhile especially SYdney Nov three years ago wasn't it? I have Bozman driving who has given up F1 for Superlap, more fun he says. We should be doing 14's maybe 13's with improvements we have done and still doing to the The Slot Car.
  17. fatz what did you do the thread stalled? Who is doing what improvements to their cars for this Superlap?
  18. Actual times from last year below. Most should be faster this next one pending weather and track conditions? Superlap 2008
  19. Far out Bozman 3 to 4 cars in the same event, you adrenalin junky you. Entry list so far. Superlap entries
  20. Soon and not much actually, but rather not commit to either yet as third party involved. As for weight at the time I was half joking but then Bozman would probably only be 65kg maybe 70kg and you guys would be over a cosy 100 kg's. Bozman is Mr Energy and good stuff. Hey Roy good to here lost some beer storage. Is there a VIC team gearing up for this one?
  21. I went up to machine shop this morning to give them a hurry up. They just started back at work after the break. They are close to pivoting centre arms and will have in time and yes. Reason they break is they are loaded as you know they want to go through an arch, and all the arms and bushes on the market only allow to go though one plane and hence they break. They also restrict suspension and act like a stiff shock indirectly, and when they don’t they are starting to work lose and then have play in front end. The more camber and caster of a race car accentuates the problem. Odd thing is some cars get away with it with little or no prbos, whilst others have on going problems. All are binding though and restricting travel or free movement of suspesnion.
  22. Yes Beer Bitch but Bozman is heaps lighter than you wide arse lot, so he has a advantage straight off. I tell you what, if any of you three get down to within 40kg of Bozmans weight you can drive it. PS Yehaaaa I received my Pro Class invitation and entry form today Nathan.
