  5. Enjoying your car is what a lot of people miss while worrying about them! just maintain it well. I dont know the state of your car but even if it is dead stock it wouldnt cost much to make it fun on a track (being a r23 gts-t?) stop worrying and start thrashing! since u lost so much to start with the longer u keep it the better value it will be since it probably wouldnt depriciate as much as it initially did in the near future...
  6. i have done (in order) sometimes irresponsible street 'learning', defensive driving course, drag strip, skidpan and last of all circuit. i didnt find the defensive driving course very helpful as i had given what they taught us a go already on the road, mostly braking, and also avoiding manouveres etc. drag races were just fun really, nothing new there.. skidpan is a good experience, as although im sure everyone has a go at second gear corners, on the skidpan you can see how the car reacts at much higher speeds, so i learnt a lot about control in third gear. wet skidpan was also very useful as you have a large area to try and push the limits on a wet surface. I recently went to my first circuit day at wakefield park, there was not many people there which was handy! i have to say i learned the most at the circuit day, and only because i had a friend with me who knew the lines etc and showed me how to drive around the track. at the start of the day i was pretty hopeless, wrong lines etc, and i would overheat the tyres quickly and just overall be slow! after my friend came in the car and taught me what i should be doing, the tyres were lasting heaps longer, driving was a lot smoother and i was massively faster than at the start (4-5 secs faster!) one mistake was going there on crap tyres, seems like a good idea if you are being tight, but in the end it becomes a big limitation as you just want to go faster but there is no grip and with the tyres i had on they overheated quickly and car was overall a deathtrap to drive (i dont have much power, and could get it sideways easy at 130km/h in third..) so put good tyres on, go to the racetrack, and get someone to show u how to drive
  7. i dont understand the point of your post... you got them to fit a fuel pump, then run it on the dyno, so power has nothing to do with them as they didnt tune it... anyway i must be missing something or maybe you meant to say that you experienced good customer service whilst getting you fuel pump fitted.
  8. Randomly tightening the manifold bolts is definetly not something you should do, this will mean the manifold is torqued down unevenly and will lead to warping/more leaks and probably a cracked manifold. even when u do it up for the first time u must use even torque and do them in order from the centre to the outside ones. u could get to all(4) the turbo-manifold ones easily so you could check them for looseness (they probably are due to heat age etc) but ticking noise indicates manifold to head more likely than manifold to turbo anyway.
  9. you wouldnt want to feel for it, you should be able to see it..its not hard to spot. it will get worse with time and eventually blow out and sound really bad but usually after a while. it ticked louder correspondingly to load, so light throttle was usually ok but then as soon as you load it up a bit (ie a hill or speeding up quicker) it would tick louder. the load point at which it ticked got lower and lower as time went by if you know what i mean. to give you an idea, i first heard mine leaking (ticking) and by the time i replaced it i had driven probably another 4000kms, and it had been very slowly but steadily getting louder with more use. i knew what it was from the start because i saw the leak, plus i could see there was two studs snapped off which would have caused it to leak in the first place due to not being screwed down. in the pic i attached if u look where the arrow points u can sort of see what it looks like where there is a leak.
  10. when the exhaust man gasket goes it is also a ticking, sounds like a metal ticking against metal so you could call it a mechanical noise too. Just have a check anyway, usually the way that the turbo fails is that the exhaust wheel comes off and thats pretty obvious, hard to say without hearing it in person like you can.
  11. since it is a ticking noise i would suspect that it is not the turbo, and more likely the exhaust manifold gasket. check the gasket for leaks (carbon around where the manifold joins the head) as a leaking exh man gasket will cause a ticking noise. Its not hard to see even with the heat shield still on.
  12. Mine goes the same as before, i was not actually fitting the 2530 i was fixing my exhaust manifold gasket and at the time a friend had his 2530 off the car so we were comparing
  13. cant tell for sure but here are pics of a stock r33 turbo (by itself) and an hks 2350 (attached to manifold)
  14. Yeah a knew that already i have a good friend who has an s15 and i love the way his diff works. I have seen one for sale cheap recently, and my original question was can i fit it on my r33 gts-t???? if i can for cheap it would be a good handling upgrade.
  15. Thanks for the info. I dont want a noisy tyre (much noisier than the average performance tyre) so i think ill give them a miss from what you have said Ill probably have time in about 2 weeks to get out and get some tyres and at this stage i will most likely get some dunlop sp-sport maxx's. they are the new top of the range dunlop street tyre (replaced sp9000) and come oem on a few very high powered stock cars so should be good.
  16. are those federal semi slicks noisy? do they only work well when they are really warmed up? i need new front tyres and i want good grip, was going to go for a top of the range road tyre but if those semis are not too expensive and ok to live with then maybe ill get them....
  17. a bit off topic but i was wondering about if was able to get an s15 helical diff is it possible to fit the centre in and r33 diff? or change the whole diff?
  18. its the master cylinder, a trader on this forum sells them http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=106949 or else u can get them from any nissan parts dealer.
  19. They are mild steel, on r34 gtr's i believe they are stainless steel. the price that was quoted would probably include helicoiling a few holes from broken studs, not just pulling them out and screwing new ones in there are always annoying broken ones, i had 4!!!
  20. Duncan, i think you mean if you snap an ezi out, (not a helicoil) in the hole then u are properly screwed the helicoil is just a new thread they screw into thread they make in the drilled out hole, an ezi out is the stud removal tool which is reverse threaded and u screw into a hole in the broken stud and turn anti clockwise to grab the stud and unscrew it. using the ezi out is worrying and i wasnt prepared to use on on my head alone either
  21. they are slow compared to any turbo car, but comparable to similar cars to themselves like mx5s etc. i had a short squirt with one the other week up to the speed limit and my second gear was faster than his first.
  22. Monzas are super crappy tyres in any conditions!!! the only thing they are good for is burnouts since they last forever! i wouldnt trust any falken tyre with 'ziex' in the name, ie 326's (crappiest deathtrap tyre ever) cant u just put normal car tyres on there assuming u wont go off road anyway?
  23. yep i recommend marty as well, definetly no dodgy installs from him! (unlike 99% of other places!)
  24. good to hear u are ok, and good tyres are definetly worth the money for the rain, with crap tyres if anything goes wrong u have no chance. Xinhua thats bad to hear too, what exactly was the damage? and was the damage from the kangaroo or the trees?
  25. The thread man did what i needed (two studs helicoiled) for very cheap compared to others i called, and i needed him for one last bastard bolt and he came around and did it at late notice for cheap too, so whatever he charges would be about right he isnt the type to rip off thats for sure tell him u found him from guy with the red skyline (me)
