  1. Some observations about the SS1-PU installation: (I was hoping it would be direct fit apart from the oil feed which is supplied but.....) -Housings need to be clocked around a little to fit -The oil drain doesnt reach, we need to run a longer rubber line to join the turbo end the motor end -One of the stock water lines needs to be bent to fit - not a tiny bend but its doable -The other water line (from the back of the head) is no where near fitting This hard line meets a rubber hose around the back of the head which then joins a feed at the intake manifold. To work around this problem we will run a longer rubber hose from the intake manifold and join it to the hard pipe further along, enough so that we can fit the line.
  2. Thanks guys I picked one up tonight.
  3. Looking for a stock RB25DET exhaust manifold in Sydney - must not be warped or cracked PM or sms on 0402465128. Thank you!
  4. Thanks mate - dyno would be awesome, esp with the boost. Does it hold 19psi all the way or run more/less in the midrange/top end? Whats it like to drive?
  5. One of my stock manifolds has warped before as well (rb25) Makes it very difficult to remove from the head since it catches on the studs.
  6. Thanks Pete! Looking forward to your final result. Are you running higher boost in the midrange or 17psi all the way through?
  7. So has anyone got their SS1PU fully tuned with dyno results yet? I got mine in the mail yesterday, should be fitting it this week.
  8. If the ones you saw were metal then they were not from a late model r33 or R34. In fact I think very late model R34s switched back to metal again (cant remember for sure)
  9. Mafia - they are really Nylon - i know it doesnt seem likely but I have swapped my stock turbo with another one plus seen a whole bunch of others at the wrecker first hand and in this case the internet is correct - take a look at one if you can and you will see that it is really some sort of black plastic. I will have my turbo off in around 1 week and will happily post a photo of the compressor.
  10. The whole compressor wheel is made of some type of plastic/nylon in late r33/r34 gtt turbos.
  11. If you are happy to pay the $650 then performance box is awesome, dont know why you would bother with a unit that requires a transponder. -Logs on SD card -Can do performance testing and lap timing -Logs g-force -Overlay laps/driving on google maps -Overlay data over video -Runs off 12v car power -Can fit external GPS antenna or even run off batteries if needed Ive noticed performance box (or driftbox) is used by all the big magazines and press for timing nowdays all around the world, I dont question its accuracy. I dont believe anything comes close apart from logging integrated into the ECU or race dash.
  12. Thanks Sarge, this was the answer I was looking for - someone who has tried it already Stao was not completely confident there would be no issues when I asked him on the phone and I have seen first hand problems with the stock item on SR20s (looks similar, not sure if its the same as rb25). I will get my tuner's opinion as well.
  13. Who is using the stock R33 blow off valve? Has anyone had a problem with them after their turbo upgrade? Im looking to install my SS1PU next week and im not sure if I need to buy an aftermarket one. Would prefer not to in any case to keep it stock as possible.
  14. I will run mine once I have the turbo fitted and tuned. I dont promise a good time but im more interested in the mph.
  15. I have heat issues with my stock turbo, this is the main reason I am upgrading. I ordered an SS1PU and Stao mentioned that this model runs cool, will deliver consistent power and is one of the best models in terms of not overheating. I will definitely be testing this out once fitted since I use the car for track/twisties use where its important that the intake temps stay safe and the turbo doesnt get too hot.
  16. Thanks mate, Was this with the latest SS1PU or another model?
  17. So the SS1PU makes 260-280kw depending on boost on the status dyno but I cant find any results on any other dynos or from actual customer cars. I have ordered an SS1PU and im a little worried that it will not perform as reported. The only result I see in Sydney is from Sarge and thats for an SS2 with some setup related complications. Can anyone share their SS1PU results on a dyno other than from status?
  18. Hey mate, -How old is the turbo? Does it come with any parts apart from the lines to help fit it? (since the bolt on kit comes with all the other parts in the kit, see picture)
  19. I know there is no problem with pushing a turbo at the edge of its efficiency for normal street driving where you might give it full throttle through a couple of gears at a time and back off but im more talking about when things heat up ie. sustained heavy load/full boost, track use etc.
  20. Hi Stao, Do they PU models use a highflowed standard housing or a custom one which you supply? You mentioned cooking intercoolers being an issue with the previous generation PU models - im worried that pushing a smallish (high flow) turbo such as these is risky for the motor due to the intake temps and therefore pinging during hard use, what is your opinion?
  21. What suburb are you in? (or if you dont want to mention, how far are you from Sydney?)
  22. Hey mate - are those injectors definitely top feed? (since r33 gts-t injectors are side feed) Thanks!
